Material Mart Uses EQ8 to Share Fabric Inventory with Customers

Posted 04-14-2021 by Jenny | Posted in: EQ Retailers EQ8

EQ8 teacher Marguerite Shrader recently shared with us how Material Mart in Midland, Michigan uses EQ8 in their store. It’s quite innovative and we wanted to share it with you! Marguerite writes: “We want to let you know how we, as a local quilt store that also sells EQ8, are making it easier for our customers to design quilts with the fabrics we carry. About 2 years ago, we started selling EQ8 after one of our customers agreed to teach classes and support the product. We have a series of 7 classes developed so far, and they have been a big hit with the EQ8 user community in the area.” “Our latest endeavor has been to develop an EQ8 Fabric Library of the fabric inventory we have in the store, so that when our users design a quilt in EQ8, they can design with fabrics they know we have in

EQ8 Block Spotlight: Tulip from North Carolina

Posted 04-10-2021 by Jenny | Posted in: EQ8 Block Spotlight

Welcome to the EQ8 Block Spotlight! Each month we highlight a block from the EQ8 Block Library with a few design ideas. Then we want you to show us what you can do with the block. Whether you’re a brand new EQ8 user or a seasoned pro, come join in the fun! This month’s block: Tulip from North Carolina Where to find it: 04 Classic Applique > Flowers Design ideas to get you started For my first quilt, I set the Tulip block in an on-point layout and alternated it with a block from the Cross Variations section of the Block Library (under the 02 Contemporary Pieced category). For my second quilt I edited the block drawing a bit. On the Block Worktable, I split the background patch down the center so I could color one side of the background dark, and the other side light. I also needed to

BlockBase+ Sew Along: Block 1 Link Up

Is everyone ready to show off their first block for the sew along? I’m so excited to see everyone’s fabric choices! Here’s mine: My block finishes at 6″ and I used both the rotary cutting chart and the foundation pattern printouts to make my block. I use the dimensions from the rotary cutting chart to cut my patches, then I piece them together using the foundation pattern. I’m a *bit* of a perfectionist and using the foundation pattern is how I keep myself from ripping apart the block multiple times until I’m happy with my piecing! When you post your photo below, please tell us what size you made the block, which printout you used from BlockBase+, and anything else you’d like to share about the block!
