Parisian Snowflakes – by Michele Scott

Posted 12-02-2008 by Sarah | Posted in: Uncategorized

Michele Scott is a long time EQ user and multi-published quilt designer. She sent us a heads up about her EQ6 designed quilt called Parisian Snowflake pattern to be featured in McCall’s Quilting January 2009 issue and we just loved the quilt! It’s so pretty isn’t it? The kit for this pattern is also available from The Peaceful Quilter website. It’s such a fun design to get started on for the cold season ahead! Thanks for the heads up Michele and we hope you continue sharing your EQ6 designs with us. Beautiful Fabric Cards

Carmi Cimicata of, Carmi’s Art/Life World, has a blog that caught our eye! Her fun, vintage fabric cards are so pretty. She prints her images onto our printable inkjet fabric sheets and then sews her fabric to a card. The series that caught our attention was one of woman wearing vintage style hats. So gorgeous. “I print much of my vintage imagery on cotton. This way I can add some batting if I want to create some dimension when I sew it to a card. Printing on cotton is almost as good as printing on paper now. They add something to the fabric which creates a nice surface for the ink to sit on. My ink jet fabric sheets are from The Electric Quilt Company. I have tried them all…and this is the best.” ~Carmi Thank you for the kind words Carmi! Beautiful projects.

Virtual Quilter

Judy Butcher, of Virtual Quilter has a really cool blog where she designs and posts a new EQ quilt everyday! Her designs are all so different and fun but the best part is that she makes the EQ6 projects available for you to download and edit yourself! Check out her blog and read up on how she designs in EQ6. This post is my favorite, it’s called, Electric Quilt Dozen Sampler Quilt. Judy challenged herself to make some limitations on a quilt design but still produce a beautiful quilt. Here’s a little bit of what she did but check out the full post on her blog. “But what if I limit myself to designing quilts with blocks from the Electric Quilt library. What if I set some limits, because I can not spend all day every day for the rest of my life doing this. Remember, I have all of

Miniatures in Minutes by Terrie Sandelin

Posted 11-18-2008 by Sarah | Posted in: Uncategorized

We just heard about a new book from C&T publishing written by quilt designer Terrie Sandelin. As a long time EQ6 user, she’s no stranger to the program. She uses EQ6 for all her designs and even teaches the program to others. All the quilts in her book were designed in EQ6 and we’re so proud of her accomplishment! Read what Terrie has to say about her new book: “First off, THANK YOU so much for the wonderful program!  I’ve been an EQ user since version 3 and, of course, like everyone else, I just think it’s gotten better and better.  I have loved playing with it for years.  About two years ago, I was playing with Anita Grossman Soloman’s Fold and Sew technique and used EQ to apply it to miniature quilts.  It worked beautifully.  I had so much fun as I was able to explore lots of design possibilities using EQ. From Texas to Alaska

Probably my favorite part of Houston Market and Festival was meeting all the EQ users and learning about how they benefit from the program. We met several talented EQ6 quilt designers who were excited to tell us their stories about how they’ve been able to mesh their artistic abilities and the technology of EQ6 to create a thriving business. So we want to now share their accomplishments with you! First up, Lisa Moore of Sitka, Alaska! Quilts with a Twist by designer Lisa Moore Lisa Moore is a proud Alaskan who gets her quilt design inspiration from Alaskan landscape. Her quilts are often pictorial in some way and beautifully depict the land and creatures that live there. We were so proud and honored to hear that she designs nearly all of her quilts in EQ6! She can then easily create patterns that she sells on her website http://www.quiltswithatwist.com Lisa also

EQ6 on The Quilt Show with Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims!

Several months ago, we got a phone call from Bunny Henningsen about putting EQ6 on The Quilt Show with Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims! Have you ever watched their web shows on their site www.thequiltshow.com? Well they are always really fun and full of neat techniques so of course we jumped at the opportunity! On their shows, Alex and Ricky bring guests quilters, designers, and authors on for interviews, teach you really cool sewing techniques, and introduce you to must-have tools and gadgets for your sewing room. Bunny Henningsen appears on the show from time to time to host a segment called the TQS Treasure Chest – a segment devoted to special gadgets and tools for sewers. Bunny called us about using EQ6 in the TQS Treasure Chest and demoing the program during her segment for the live audience. We are so thankful to Bunny because she not only learned
