This month’s block: Hearts & Sunflowers Where to find it: 04 Classic Applique > Eight Elements Design ideas to get you started My first quilt uses a simple on-point layout. I made a wider sashing and used a block from the 10 Sashing > Star Sashing section of the library to create the stars at the cornerstones. I also copied one of the hearts from the Hearts & Sunflowers block to make a single-heart block to set in the cornerstones. This month’s block: Flower Basket Where to find it: 01 Classic Pieced > Baskets (Traditional) Design ideas to get you started I used the Frame Block feature available in Create Serendipity to rotate and frame the block. Then I could set it in a horizontal layout and the basket would be pointing “up,” instead of angled to the side. If you’d like to simply add setting triangles to the four sides of a block (rather than a fancy frame), you could use the Tilt Block feature to rotate the block 45 degrees. I used the Serendipity-Merge Blocks feature to put the Turnstile block in the center square of the Sixteen Points block.
