It’s the first EQ8 Block Spotlight post of 2019! I look forward to a fun and inspiring year of designing with you all! It’s a simple 4 x4 horizontal layout, but I drew a “blocky” version of the wheel to pair with the original. This month’s block: Crossing Branches Where to find it: 04 Classic Applique > Crossing Designs A few design ideas to get you started I was inspired by the greens and teals in the original block–they feel so calming to me. I used those colors as my jumping off point and paired the applique block with a star block from the 01 Classic Pieced > Stars section. For this tablerunner design I added a flower motif to the center of the Crossing Branches block. I love a good pop of color in a black and white quilt! This month’s block: Pyramid Kite Where to find it: 03 Foundation Pieced > Balloons & Kites A few design ideas to get you started For my first quilt, I created two different blocks from the Pyramid Kite block using Create Serendipity > Shrink & Flip. Here’s what the two Shrink & Flip blocks look like. I could have set each Pyramid Kite block in the quilt and rotated them each individually to achieve the same look, but creating these two blocks in Serendipity first made it much faster when I set them in the quilt! It may be a little harder to spot the individual block

I’ve paired the Arrowheads block with another block from the Maltese Cross section called Kaleidoscope Variation. I like the little secondary design in the corners!
