This is a Horizontal Strip layout. I alternated Pieced Blocks strips of varying sizes with narrow Plain strips. The featured Stocking block is in one of the center strips. I also made a few variations of the stocking block by deleting the polka dots and adding some different motifs on the Block Worktable. For my second design, I thought

Let’s get creative! This month’s block: Log Cabin 2 Where to find it: 02 Contemporary Pieced > Houses Design ideas to get you started I used this house block in the border of my first quilt. My initial thought was to keep it a two-color design, but I couldn’t help but throw the navy blue in there for a little extra pop! I wanted to try something more modern for my second quilt. All the fabrics in this one are from Tula Pink collections. Even though the blocks are in rows, I used a custom set layout so I could space the houses and trees just where I wanted them. It takes a

Learn more about Randomize on our Support site. For my second quilt, I used a Vertical Strip layout. The strips alternate between Pieced Blocks and Half Drop Blocks style

Welcome to the EQ8 Block Spotlight series! Each month we highlight a block from the EQ8 Block Library with a few design ideas. Then we want YOU to show us what you can do with the block. Let’s get creative! This month we’re using a motif from the Block Library. Motifs work just a little differently than blocks. Motifs do not have a background patch, so they can’t be set on Layer 1 of a standard quilt layout. Visit our Support site for more info on setting motifs in a quilt layout. This month’s block: White Oak Where to find it: 06 Motifs > Leaves Design ideas to get you started For my first quilt, I combined several leaf and acorn motifs into one design: Then I used the WreathMaker on the combined motifs to create this design: The new Wreathmaker design is set on Layer 2 of this wallhanging:
