Hi Thank you for this information however could you tell us how we can export the templates and foundation piecing documents into a pdf format so that we can put them into publications. I am wanting to use the software to produce my own patterns to sell and I need to be able to put these elements into documents that can then be produced/printed elsewhere. Thank you.

It’s all a matter of printing to the PDF writer, rather than your actual printer. Follow the steps, but on step 4, choose Print > Templates or Print Foundation Pattern. You’ll now have a PDF of your templates or foundation pattern. If you wanted to do more with what you exported, you could continue with the “Open the PDF in Illustrator” steps.

If I don’t have Illustrator, I can’t do this? I bet that’s an expensive program.

Is it possible to open the pdf in Word, similar to the way a meta file of a block can be opened? If so, can you outline the steps. Thank you.

Hi Fran. Yes, you can open the PDF in Word, but I can’t figure out a way to pull the blocks apart. So I’m not entirely sure if it can be done. Word may not have the capabilities to do it. There may be some Word gurus out there that know how to make it work, but all I was able to do was insert the quilt or block into the document.
