Closed for Memorial Day on Monday May 25, 2009

Monday is a holiday in the US. The EQ office will be closed in observance of Memorial Day. UPS will not be delivering or picking up. If you’re ordering products on our website: – orders placed before 9am Eastern Friday will be processed Friday. – orders placed after 9:01am Eastern Friday will be processed Tuesday. If you’re calling in your order (1-800-356-4219): – phone orders placed before noon Eastern Friday will be processed Friday. – phone orders placed after 12:01pm Eastern Friday will be processed Tuesday. This will affect fast shipping methods… Don’t count Monday or the weekend if you’re trying to get a rush order with overnight, 2nd day, or 3-day shipments. In other words, overnight orders placed in time on Friday will be delivered Tuesday.

When Life Gives You Apples…

… make apple pie! After Pittsburgh Market we found ourselves with a bin full of green apples left over from the Amy Butler Softwares booth display. We put them in the kitchen here at the office and we’ve all been grabbing an apple every now and then with lunch. Last night, we left the office and the bin of about 20 apples on counter. This morning we were all surprised to find that EQ Mouse (or in this case, Office Manager Lu) had turned the bin of apples into a delicious apple pie! Thanks Lu!

Gloria Hansen takes first place in Paducah!

We are excited to congratulate Digital Essentials author, Gloria Hansen who won first place in the Small Wall Quilts category in Paducah this year! Her eye catching quilt is titled “Blushing Triangles 4″ (shown to the left). To see other category winners visit the AQS site.

Sharing a local accomplishment

“Sue Gruber of Bowling Green currently has an award-winning quilt on display at the 33rd Annual Quilt Show at Sauder Village in Archbold, which opened Tuesday and runs through Sunday. Her entry entitled “Going, Going, Gone?” received first place in the wall quilts open class hand- or machine-quilted category. Thousands of quilt enthusiasts are visiting Archbold this week for the popular show. Sauder Village pays tribute to the craftsmanship of quilters from across the Midwest with a display of nearly 400 quilts in Founder’s Hall, quilting demonstrations and workshops. Both traditional and modern interpretations of quilts are represented. Even after 33 years, the show is still a new experience since once a quilt has been exhibited it cannot be re-entered into the Sauder show. With categories ranging from pieced and appliqué to mixed media, contemporary art and youth quilts in bed, wall and contemporary art quilts as well as miniature,

Quilt Projects and a Recipe Book!

The new ClubEQ challenge is up and waiting for your entries. THIS IS NOT A MONTH YOU WANT TO SKIP. Barb Vlack says “Design a quilt that illustrates a favorite recipe. The Electric Quilt Company will use that illustration along with your recipe to publish a PDF cook book that will be available to participants only.” So this month, if you design a quilt in EQ5 or EQ6 and submit the recipe that goes along with it, you will get many more quilts and recipes back! Just visit the ClubEQ page for more examples and directions for submitting the project and recipe.

We are going to start an online quilt gallery of finished quilts designed in EQ. If you have an EQ design that made it into fabric, we’d love to see it. What we need sent to penny@electricquilt.com: * EQ project * photo of the finished quilt (as square and straight-on as possible) * quilt title * who gets the credit?
