EQ Mini Friday Fun – Fiesta Quilt

Posted 08-18-2017 by | Posted in: EQ Mini EQ Mini Friday Fun with Lori

Let’s have a party with this colorful Fiesta Quilt made with just one simple block from the block library of EQ Mini Software.  You can easily design a simple quilt with big impact using your new design skills.  This quilt is fat quarter friendly and I designed it with that in mind to use a fun stack of Joel Dewberry fat quarters that I had picked up at Quiltcon earlier this year.  I kept the blocks large to highlight the prints and was able to get two blocks from each fat quarter.  It uses a horizontal quilt layout, large scale blocks and fun colors in this delightful Fiesta quilt. EQ Mini Friday Fun – Summer Flora Quilted Tote

Posted 07-14-2017 by | Posted in: EQ Mini EQ Mini Friday Fun with Lori

Summer is in full swing and this month’s design is a large roomy tote.  It is a fun and quick design that features a great way to highlight a quilt block from the EQ Mini software.  I chose a beautiful applique design called Baltimore block to highlight on this tote.  I was keeping in mind how I was going to assemble this tote as I designed it.  The more you design, the easier it is to plan ahead for construction when designing your quilts to get the end result that you want.  Based upon a horizontal quilt layout, we play with row size, scale and colors to create this Summer Flora Tote. Posted 03-10-2017 by | Posted in: EQ Mini EQ Mini Friday Fun with Lori

For this EQ Mini Friday Fun, we are going to take a deep dive into the first step of designing a quilt, choosing your layout style.  The layout style is how your quilt blocks will be laid out in your design.  This is the first decision you will make as you venture into the creative process.  If you think that quilts are only made of blocks in horizontal grids, it is time to rethink your design process and open up to all of the available design possibilities.  Let’s take a closer look at all of the layout styles included with EQ Mini. When you get to the main HOME page of EQ Mini software, you will see four colored tabs going across the page. The first tab is Start New Quilt.  It is the first one with a Star and Blue color. This is the tab where you will choose
