Monkey Quilt By Evelyn Townsend
The Richmond Quilt Guild, of which I am a member of the Friendship Circle Chapter, is holding their Annual Meeting on March 31st. Each chapter was asked to design a quilt in the theme of Africa. I volunteered to design the wallhanging for our chapter. I designed the quilt (of course using EQ7!) around a cartoon of four monkeys. I added the trees, geikos, lizards and ferns. I hand painted the background with dyes and then added highlights with Shiva Paint Stiks. The monkeys are trapunto and I printed their faces on my computer printer using EQ’s photo fabric sheets. Some of the leaves were cut from black fusible interfacing to create a transparent look to them. I quilted the wallhanging with my longarm machine and then highlighted some of the quilting with fabric paints. It was a fun project. I could not imagine trying to do something like this without EQ! The quilt will be auctioned at the annual meeting
