I actually have twenty-one 17-inch Dresdon plates completed to make this quilt, but I used shweshwe South African fabric, so they are much brighter. Everyone who looks at my Dresdon Plates say the 24 parts look like men’s ties.
Under the photo tab in this project is an EQ project image of the darker colors, but it does not have the shweshwe fabric. You might do a search for shweshwe fabric images on line.
Wikipedia: “Shweshwe (/ˈʃwɛ.ʃwɛ/) is a printed dyed cotton fabric widely used for traditional South African clothing. Originally dyed indigo, the fabric is manufactured in a variety of colours and printing designs characterised by intricate geometric patterns. Due to its timeless popularity, shweshwe has been described as the denim, or tartan, of (the country of) South Africa.”

I found shweshwe fabric for sale on-line from back east–by the yard. My daughter brought home yards and half yards from South Africa.

Very interesting to read about Sweshwe fabric. That dictionary item took us to ‘African waxprints’. That item says the waxprint fabric is sold by the piece — 12 yards or as a half piece, 6 yards. Is the sweshwe fabric sold the same way? This is an odd way to think about buying fabric for quilters who are more comfortable with ‘fat quarter’ thinking.
