This quilt was inspired by a group quilt found on “The Quilt Index” website. It was made in Nebraska in 1932. Barbara Brackman’s book, Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns, lists 9 names for this block, with dates ranging from 1895 to 1992 – Goose in the Pond, Unique Nine Patch, Young Man’s Fancy, Patchwork Fantasy, Gentleman’s Fancy, Geometric Garden, Scrap Bag, Mrs. Wolf’s Red Beauty. and Unnamed.

The inspiration quilt is set in horizontal rows, with sashing and nine-patch cornerstones. I changed the setting to on-point and colored using the Moda Bella Solids 30′s Colors as listed on the Moda website (unitednotions.com) and included in the EQ7 Fabric Library.
