Barb Vlack says…
“For anyone seeking a user friendly add-on for EQ8, you’ll be delighted with this one. It’s easy to navigate and offers tips and tricks that will help anyone taking on this project. The design tools in EQ8 make it simple to create your own variation if you desire. The blocks can be used as is or edited to create a variation. Fabrics can be added from the vast EQ8 fabric library, EQ8 Stash add-ons, or scanned fabrics from your own collection. I love the printable journal pages, stationery, progress chart, and certificates to reward milestones in your progress. Of course, all the features of EQ8 are available as you use this add-on, which adds to the versatility for designing with the Dear Jane blocks. Owners of the original Dear Jane program will find this Dear Jane add-on easier to use, because it fits right into EQ8.”
Diane Harris says…
“As a Mac user, I am loving the re-release of Dear Jane™ by The Electric Quilt Company. It was a quick, trouble-free download and I started playing with it right away. I appreciate having the option of different techniques for many of the blocks and I especially love the “Quilt and Block Resources” list that is included. In this pdf you can quickly see the technique options for any block. And there’s even some humor. On page 65, of Block K-6, Ann’s Folly, Brenda says, “Foundation piece. Do not pass go; do not collect $200.” Making a Dear Jane is more attainable than ever before. While still not a quilt for the faint of heart, it’s no longer a Mount Everest. Or maybe it is a Mount Everest but now you have a team of sherpas and guides and you have good weather! I recommend the EQ8 add-on Dear Jane™ from The Electric Quilt Company and Brenda Manges Papadakis. What a treasure!”
Karen Combs says…
“I love this new Dear Jane add-on for EQ8! This new version allows me to add in my own fabric scans and export high resolutions of images of my quilt designs. I can print colored foundation patterns and there are quilting suggestions for all 225 blocks! This is just a few of the additions to this new Dear Jane version for EQ8.
I found the software easy to use and immediately was designing and playing with the blocks. The new PDF addition has all kinds of additional information. I’m very impressed with this new version.”

Sounds like you already have the old version of Dear Jane and have the Dear Jane blocks linked into your EQ8, right? If so, it’s completely your decision if you should get this new version. The best part about the new version with EQ8 is you get the full, original quilt design already created for you. Hello, I recently purchased the Dear Jane add on and noticed when I opened it up in EQ8 not all the bariations shown in the video were loaded. How do we get those variations?

10:28 am
Everything you see in the videos should have been installed with your add-on. To find the variations, open the EQ Block Library, locate the Dear Jane Add-on in the list and click the plus sign [+] to expand it. You should see several categories under Dear Jane Add-on, one being the Variations. Click the plus sign to expand that list and you should see all the libraries for each row. If you still cannot find them, please contact technical support or use our live chat for help.

May I assume that I need EQ8? I have EQ6 and have no intention of getting EQ8. I can do everything I want to do, primarily design and print foundations, with EQ6. You need to make such software backward compatible with earlier versions of EQ

Yes, the Dear Jane add-on requires EQ8. I’m glad to hear you’re happy with your EQ6! Please know though, if you do decide to upgrade to EQ8, you will receive discounted pricing since you are an EQ6 owner.
