EQ Academy is a 4-day workshop, hosted by The Electric Quilt Company, dedicated to learning the ins and outs of Electric Quilt 8 (EQ8) software. This fun and educational event will give you the tools you need to get the most out of your EQ8, while building lasting friendships!

EQ Academy takes place in Perrysburg Ohio, just south of Toledo. Here are some FAQ (including information on location and where to stay).

Classes are offered April 4-7th as full-day (6 hours) and half-day (3 hours) options. Take one, or take a lot! Here are the classes available. Some are already sold out so if you are interested you better get moving! ;)

This year we have a special NEW class!

A class on how to teach EQ8! Our users are always asking for more classes – teachers are in demand! This could be a great opportunity for you if you want to teach EQ8, but you’re not sure where to start. Or maybe you are already teaching EQ8 classes but are looking for some tips on best practices, class content, and solutions to those unforeseen tech issues that may arise. This class will provide instruction and insight to potential teachers to help ensure smooth and successful EQ8 classes.

Mary Ellen Kranz is teaching the teachers. She has taught EQ classes for over 30 years. She will share her experiences in the classroom, guide you with ideas that have worked for her, and provide insight on those unexpected events that can make or break a class. If you haven’t met Mary Ellen…she is a wonderfully sweet lady and an even better teacher!

She has sewn and quilted since childhood. She found her career path in computers but continued to pursue quiltmaking. Her quilts appear in shows and galleries reflecting a broad range of skills and techniques.

Her thirty+ years of experience provided her with an understanding of how computer technology could blend together in the process of creating fiber art. Mary Ellen shares her knowledge of how to combine your quiltmaking ideas and vision with the power of EQ8 software. Her classes provide an opportunity to learn and use EQ8 with confidence under the guidance of a creative and patient teacher.

Here are some shots of Mary Ellen in action!
