This quilt design is the result of an EQ challenge. I made the top a couple of years ago and I have challenged myself to get some of my many UFOs completed so this was one of the first to get done. I love sunflowers and grow them each year in my garden. This quilt makes a great late summer or early fall wall hanging.

I too love sunflowers (plus applique) and have taken a new liking to the log cabin block with all the ways I am seeing it used these days. I would love the pattern if you are willing to sell or share. Let your EQ friends know if you develope a series. I would love to purchase something along those lines.

Thanks for all the wonderful comments. It’s always nice to get feedback on your designs and quilts. Ann, I had already been thinking of turning this design into a series and have worked on some of the other designs a little bit. Hopefully Ellen and Jenni – you submitted designs that month and got the EQ project file as I have no way of reaching you to send you the EQ file. Great combination of piecing and applique. You could turn this into a 4-seasons series, with roses for summer, holly for winter, and daffodils or other spring bloomers for spring.

I love EQ, too. I especially love sunflowers and this quilt is gorgeous.
I design all my quilts in EQ, even small wall hangings. It is so fun to play with different borders.
