Usually I use EQ to help me determine what colors to use in a quilt. This time the colors were worked out on my physical design wall and I used EQ to help me design a quilt stencil that was simple enough to do with the walking foot on my home sewing machine while still enhancing the quilt. I was surprised to find that moving the quilting lines just 1/4″ made one quilting design feel right and appropriate for the design, and a very similar design to feel wrong and static.

This quilt design is basically a larger version of the quilt Prisma found on pg 48 of the book StrataVarious Quilts. Per the book I used 28 fat quarters to make the strata for the blocks in the body of the quilt and I had so much fabric left over I was able to add an additional column and row of blocks in the body of the quilt, and to make the entire border from the original 28 fat quarters.
