With help from my friends at The Electric Quilt Company I found a way to cut out pineapple patches very quickly. Soon I had conventionally sewn up twenty-five light ‘winged’ and twenty-five dark ‘winged’ blocks. I arranged them horizontally and the overall design was 100% unexciting.

A couple of weeks later I set the blocks in a half-drop arrangement in EQ and they came alive. I figure the reason I’d never seen a two-color pineapple quilt like this is because no one else was foolish enough to make an equal number of light and dark winged pineapple blocks.
