I started with the ‘Stars 1′ layout and copied and shrunk the star points to accent the edge of the points with a faux ‘border’. The blocks are a modified ‘Double Nine Patch’ [I simplified it] and a portion of the ‘Iron Gate’ block [I substituted a 9 patch for the center circle, deleted part of it, and moved it to the corner.].
I used the ‘Checked Corners – Grid of 3′ border from EQ’s automatic borders. The colors are shades & tints of reds to emulate different red fabrics. The one real fabric used is ‘Kids Retro’ by Michael Miller Fabrics.
