A haboob is a powerful sandstorm that comes in with a huge, towering front. On July 5, 2011, Phoenix experienced a haboob of epic proportions. This quilt made with the curved block represents that threatening, frightening front racing across the desert. Working with earthy colors was a stretch for me, as I normally use bright, clear colors. Both block and quilt are original designs.
