This piece was designed to feature a 16 x 24 inch photo of an autumn scene printed on fabric – which was cropped slightly when the inner sashing was added to better frame the photo out.
The image was then surrounded on 2 sides with blocks from the EQ Library Classic Pieced Blocks which were filled with some of the Fall Fabrics (selection sadly constricted by file size restrictions!) downloaded for the project. Sunflowers were fussy cut from one of the fabrics and used in the center of two of the blocks in addition to the corner blocks in the border. Appliqué leaf motifs where set on Layer 2 in the centers of the two star pieced blocks.
To complete the quilt I would probably stitch in the ditch around the block pieces and use one of the leaf stencils from the EQ Library to add quilting to the widest border.
