Just a few days ago, we received our proof copy of the Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns from the printer – and WOW this thing is gorgeous! Even though it’s just a proof, we couldn’t help but share some inside pages with you! If the 4,000+ blocks weren’t enough, you’re sure to love the beautiful photographs that are sprinkled throughout this 522-pager! (P.S. If you sent us a sewn block, you might see it in this book like these two beauties contributed by Jan Beckert of Newfane, VT and Elizabeth Schultz of Waynesville, NC!).

I never expected that my 3 blocks would make it in the book, but was notified last week that they would indeed be published. Today I received this email with an ad for the book and there is one of my blocks on the open page of the book, How thrilling is that?

From a previous blog, here is the information Mary: What’s new in this third edition: 161 new blocks have been added, plus there are now line drawings and sample color suggestions for each of the 4,000+. Oh, and it’s all IN COLOR! This is a wonderful upgrade from the previous editions, take it from our friends Alex Anderson, Judy Martin, Jinny Beyer, and more

Hi Mary,
The book content does not stray much at all from the 1993 edition. One of the main enhancements is that the blocks are displayed in full color with a line-drawing version as well. The line drawing gives you the option to view the block’s piecing more easily, while not being distracted by the way it’s colored. Plus 161 new blocks! I’d buy it but the mailing cost to Canada is more than the book itself!

Hi Margaret,
As with all our shippable products, any destination outside of the U.S. using any carrier, is extremely expensive for our small company. This book is no exception at 4 pounds. Be aware that we will be shipping to our distributors and wholesalers at our earliest opportunity. We urge you to ask for this book at your local quilt shop or preferred online reseller. We anticipate that you will have several options available for purchasing in the future. Many of these international options will be better than what we can offer directly from our website. Thanks for your interest!

Is there a list of Canadian shops that carry the book?
11-20-2020

Sue, we have received orders from Canadian distributors but we don’t have a list of what stores they are going to. Please call your favorites and ask! They will be able to order it from their distributor (or directly from us!). Thanks for your interest!

Took a class with Barbara along time ago in Overland Park, Ks. Loved the class. My first quilt was for my Grandson before he was born. Didn’t know if he would be a boy or a girl. Made a sunbonnet sue overall sam so it would work for a boy or a girl.
His mother is using it for his kids.

Hopefully in due course this will be available in the UK. Now that the UK has left the EU, I really hope that the rules will change and we will be able to purchase things and download them. We can’t do that currently.

Hi Sarah,
The book is available to all customers, it is not a download.
BlockBase will be a download, but we plan to have a boxed copy available for EU customers to buy. Check back in the Spring for more info. Thanks for your interest!

Sería genial hacerse con esta enciclopedia. Mi primera colcha tenía bloques en cuadrado hechos con triángulos. No conozco el nombre pero me quedó fantástica.
