We are excited to announce the re-release of Barbara Brackman’s BlockBase software (for Windows and Mac!) and the third edition of her Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns book! Projected release date for both products is fall 2020.
We want you to be part of these products! We are looking for quilters to sew their favorite block from either of these products and send it to us so we can use it in the products and/or for promotional purposes! Use any fabrics you want! Make it modern, make it fun, make it classy, make it patriotic — it’s completely up to you! You can find all the information you need about this on our website. Click here to view the details.
Deadline for submissions is February 29, 2020. We look forward to seeing your blocks!
(Blocks shown above were submitted by Karen Martin and Tony Schoen.)
If you’d like to participate, but do not have access to BlockBase or the Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns, please check out Barbara’s blog! She posts about many of the blocks from these products. Just make sure you choose a block that has a “BlockBase #XXXX” with it. Click here to visit her blog >

I have an old Windows version of Blockbase, but I now use a Mac. Is there a migration kit or must I purchase a Blockbase for Mac?

There’s no Migration Kit for BlockBase. Do you have EQ7 or EQ8 and access to a Windows computer? If so, you can follow these instructions to link the blocks to your EQ software. https://support.electricquilt.com/articles/981/#linking-blockbase-to-eq8-mac

I have a very old version of Blockbase and I love the program. I got a new laptop and I cant get blockbase on the new one. Computer guy said just to copy and that doesnt work well. So I was going to look for the update which is when I found out being redone. Any idea how to move it? I put it on a flash drive and looked ok, but is looking for something so wont open. I recently upgraded to EQ8 on the new computer, but I have several linked to both that I cant get over to new computer.

I sent in my block. How do I know if it was accepted?
