Some of my friends use EQ7 to design or re-design their quilts. Thus far, I have not felt that I had the extra time to learn EQ7. When EQ came onto the market many years ago, I had another software quilt design program and did not want to double up. Now, I have a bit more time and would enjoy the opportunity of designing my quilts. Hope I win!

Many years ago, there was a program on Public TV concerning quilting and computers. Penny was the host, and we used to watch all the time. I really got into quilting when my twins were young, as in 30 plus years ago, I had only played around prior to that. My husband did a bunch of research and purchased EQ2 for me. He had internet hook up at work. I have used EQ exclusively and have never thought to try another product. When he purchased the program, internet sales were not available, so it was by phone call. He told me Penny is the one who answered the phone and assisted with questions. Thank you Penny and all of EQ for several decades of fun and design. You are the best. So I guess I first heard about EQ from Penny and her TV program.

11-10-2016
9:38 am
I started using EQ4, yes, its been that long and have used it ever since. I design all my own quilts and it’s just so handy for eliminating all the math and template making (including mistakes.) The best of all features, is the ability to work on a pattern, save it and go back to it years later. I designed a quilt early on but never made it. When my daughter married a couple of years ago, I dusted off the pattern I had designed probably 10-12 years ago, tweaked it and it turned out gorgeous. I LOVE using EQ!
11-10-2016
9:38 am
I saw it on the Internet and was gifted EQ5. Now I would like to upgrade. The possibilities are endless with EQ.

11-10-2016
9:40 am
I first heard about EQ when I went to Quilt Market back in the late 1990′s. I bought one and went home excited to use it for my classes, (I am a teacher) but found it confusing and myself limited in my understanding of the use of it. My son tried to teach me but it took too much time and I left it by the wayside, updating every few years in the hope that I would find a way to use it to its best potential. This year I discovered EQ Mini and I love it!!!!!
I have already planned out two quilts borders and all. I know this is what I have been waiting for. Thanks for thinking of us and creating this version. Lucy Anne

Some 10 years ago, while browsing through my local JoAnn’s! Wanted to buy it then, but wasn’t as heavily into quilting as I am now, so couldn’t justify the expense. NOW, I want it, but can’t afford it! Would LOVE a copy for my own use in creativity.

I first heard about EQ when my husband and I went to Quilter’s Cupboard in Uxbridge and Sue had it for sale. We chatted about it, and my husband thought it was wonderful, and bought it for me. I took some classes and was happy to use it when designing and auditioning fabric for my daughter’s wedding quilt. It was a simple pattern but fortunately I was able to put the actual colours into the EQ7 which made me choose green instead of red for the sashing…big difference.

Happy Anniversary EQ!! You have grown so much since the days of “DOS” and improving the program and keeping up with the times. I first discovered you some where around 1992 or 1993 and have kept right up with all your updates and I love EQ Stitch. I’ve been quilting more then 39 years and love that I can just play with EQ and come up with more ways to use blocks and to tweak them the way I want. No more paper and colored pencils, even though that was fun at the time, but now I can design quilts so much faster and more accurate! Quilting is a way of life, just like breathing and eating and you guys have made it so wonderful with EQ! Thank you and hope you have many, many more years ahead!

Happy 25th Anniversary!
I first heard about EQ7 about two months ago on the internet as I was looking for a program that would best fit my Quilting needs. After extensive research into all the programs out there, I finally chose you. I was able to get this program last month and have thoroughly enjoyed it and it was not as difficult as I was led to believe it would be.
Thank you so much for making my art better as I am not an artist (can only draw stick people..lol) so my quilting has been greatly improved upon and look forward to it growing even better. Thank you for all your hard work!

I’ve been using it since EQ5. And I can’t remember how I found out about it. My guesses would either be American Patchwork and Quilting magazine or the Simply Quilts show on HGTV, since those were my main sources for quilty information back then.

I first learned about EQ7 about 4 years ago when I was surfing the internet to find quilting software. I watched several videos and talked to several other quilters about the program. Everyone gave the software great reviews. So I took a chance on it and have never regretted it. This software is easy to use once you get the hang of it.

I have been using EQ since Version 3 … and am one of your biggest fans! Too long ago to remember who told me about it. I always tell my quilt students and guild members about it. I use it for creating blocks for exchanges and class materials. I *love* being able to design with it… and get ACCURATE yardage for each projects. I also *love* adding/changing colors/values and rotating blocks to ‘see’ secondary designs emerge! Wouldn’t want to quilt without it! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I have EQ7 for about six years. Since I have a Mac, at that time I had to install parallels to convert to p.c. Now I can use it straight to my mac. I knew about EQ and when I saw it in action I installed it.

I first heard about EQ6 when I started reading quilting blogs and websites. I was desperate for some help… my daughter was expecting and wanted a quilt for the baby. I had only minimal experience with the sewing machine and everyone knew I wasn’t capable of sewing a straight line! Well, I managed that first quilt (successfully!) and found I loved it. I had “designed” it without realizing it, using graph paper. My subsequent quilts were designed the same way. With each quilt though, I found I really wanted to see the fabric choices, block choices, etc. on more than graph paper. EQ7 was the answer. I have been happily designing with EQ7 for several months now.

I first heard about EQ about two or three years ago from an instructor of a class who taught paper piecing. I have since taken two classes with this instructor to make two scrap quilts which have over 100 blocks each. She used EQ to make paper piecing patterns for the blocks. I really would like to learn how to make my own paper piecing patterns!

My husband bought me EQ6 for Christmas several years ago after he same me drawing out a quilt design and using Excel to create my design and color it. He thought there had to be a better easier way and did some research and discovered EQ6. I had started to see a little about it at that time and wondered what it was. I upgraded to EQ7 when it came out and added on EQStitch as well.

I first heard about EQ when it was version 3, I was about to retire (fifteen or sixteen years ago) and my family bought it for me as a gift. EQ4 came out a week after they bought it and within days of receiving it I received an email telling me I could go to the store and exchange it for EQ4 at no charge. What an incredible company, I have upgraded every time for a minimal fee and even now use EQ7 on my Mac. I had a major crash on my Mac and had to replace my hard drive and once again it was loaded onto my system, I don’t know of another company who comes close to operating in this fashion. Bev Longford

It is hard to remember just when I first learned of the EQ program. After retiring I became more active in the Quilt Guild, enjoying reading quilting magazines, and sit and sew groups. It was in these groups I heard word of mouth praises. All of these contributed to learning of the EQ Software. Congratulations on 25 years in the industry. Would love to win the collection of 20 fat quarters. Thanks for your contribution.

Don’t remember exactly when, time-wise, but it was early during the EQ 5 days. Sneed’s of Charleston, WV was selling the product and offering classes. Because of it’s availability, my interest, and the classes I bought EQ 5 at Sneed’s and took a class or two. After purchasing EQ 7, I became very interested in the program and its offerings and have used it extensively and after purchasing a MacBook Pro, I changed from the original EQ 7 to the Mac version.

I first heard of EQ software many years ago when they first started in a magazine advertisement, if I remember correctly. I’m 65 now and I remember reading about EQ5 or 6. I love designing & have many beautiful Timeless Treasure fabrics in my stash just waiting to come to life in a QUILT! Thank you!

I saw EQ about 20 years ago at a quilt shop and talked to some employees. When EQ7 first came out, I bought a copy for my best friend and me at Christmas. We each had limited time to learn and use. However, once the Apple version came out, I made a new year’s resolution to focus on learning and using more regularly. Any time I get stuck, the staff is amazing with swift responses to keep me on track. Twice, using borders options; colour and size, changed the appearance of the quilt top so drastically, received 1st place ribbons at two different county fairs. Love the fabric downloads. Thanks EQ Staff!

believe it or not…. it was from a post on a plant/garden web site. I guess it was about ten years ago? The web site has a sewing thread, I found it quite accidentally. I was trying to find some information on a plant. I started to follow the sewing thread and someone on the thread posted a photo of a quilt she was working on, someone else asked about where to find the pattern. She said it was her own design, that she created on EQ !! I had no clue, had to google it.

It was right before the Minnesota Quilter’s Convention 20-22 years ago.
I was being interviewed by the local newspaper because of a quilt entry and i was talking about cutting up pieces of fabric and putting them back together which the journalist thought was hilarious (no Quilter’s in her family). However, I told her the design of the quilts is becoming easier because of new software coming out (EQ) that I would be purchasing at the show. I believe it was an EQ class that was offered by someone at the show I Signed up for, and then purchased the software.

I was living in West Palm Beach, FL, at the time. I purchased EQ5 after I retired from teaching. We moved to Georgia, where I took a basic class. I purchased the EQ6 and then EQ7. I love making designs on the software. Now, that I am back in Florida, I am starting to make quilts again, but my lap top crashed, and I lost all my designs. Now, I get the fun of doing new designs. I also have other add on programs that I enjoy. The staff has been so nice when I need to re-install the software on a new computer(I had 2 computers crash).

I believe I heard about EQ at the local quilt shop. The Quilter’s Ranch, in Tempe, AZ, was selling EQ 5. The idea of making your own quilt and seeing it in the fabric that you would like BEFORE you cut fascinated me. It’s my GO TO product when I’m uncertain about how much yardage I will need!

10:36 am
I was attending Quilt Week at Sorrento, BC in 1994 when I noticed that one of the quilters had a printout of the quilt the class was making with the fabric she was using. I was fascinated to find that there was quilting software! I wasn’t really into quilting, but it was one of the things that got me really interested in quilting. Instead of doing what everyone else was doing, I could design my own, test out ideas, and get cutting instructions. I loaded the software onto my work laptop and took it with me to play in the evenings on long business trips.
I have used it to draft up blocks for the guilds blocks of the month, and to work out ideas for teaching classes, and can spend endless hours playing with ideas. Now that I am retired, I get to try out more of the designs!
Happy anniversary, and I hope you have many more!

I heard about EQ back in 2002 when I began quilting to make a quilt for my daughter to be whom we were adopting from China. I was making a quilt called a One Hundred Wishes Quilt based on a Chinese tradition of family members giving fabric and pieces of clothing to the new family in order to make a treasured wryly to wrap their baby in love with. I used EQ to import my fabrics and play with layout and design. I found it invaluable. I had EQ 5 & maybe 6. Had some issues with them but am looking to get EQ7 when I get a laptop that will cope with the software requirements.

When – several years ago. Where – Local quilt shop
I was a new quilter and the lady at the LQS was helping me create a new “first quilt” and play with fabric and I immediately fell in love. I wanted to purchase right away, however it wasn’t available (That I could find) for MAC. I purchased another program and was disappointed that it wasn’t as awesome as EQ. I have EQ7 now and absolutely love it and tell all my friends about it.

I am not sure when or where I learned about EQ, but I am sure glad I did. I have had EQ for a number of years. I started with EQ7 and now have EQStitch. It is very useful software when you take the time to actually learn it. I just love it.

I learned about EQ on October 21. I saw a package at Quilted Straits in Port Gamble, Washington and was intrigued. I visited the EQ website that day and left with a download of EQ Mini. I just love it and have been creating table runners to use up all my holiday fabric.

I was at a quilting class at my LQS, and someone mentioned a computer software program they had used to design a quilt. You could rearrange blocks, audition fabrics, resize the entire quilt, all without getting out a ruler and scissors. Hooked me right away.

I am pretty sure it was on one of the sewing programs on tv. It may have been America Sews or America Quilts with Sue Hauseman. I have been using it ever since!

I have EQ7 and love it.

I learned of EQ7 through the internet! Surfing my sewing websites, brought me to the idea of designing quilts on the computer. I was always math deficient and I viewed this software as a way to accurately calculate yeardage. But the greatest benefit that I now see is the inspriation to create! Thanks EQ!

I believe that I first heard about EQ in a quilt Magazine that I was reading quite a few years ago and then saved my money to be able to buy it and I have upgraded to EQ7 and love it. I use it as much as I can.

I learned about EQ some years ago but, back then, it was not ideal for MAC users (and I am a devoted one of those!). Imagine my delight to see on an online blog that EQ 7 came in a version that worked well on MAC. It DOES! I just wish I had more time to dedicate to it.

I first learned about this softwear in a quilt club I belonged to. People would share quilts and tell about how they came about. I loved the originality of the EQ quilts and especially liked trying out color combinations that they presented and how they made their decisions.

I saw EQ version 3 at my sister and stepped into EQ with version 4. Loved the Stash add-ons and am fond of Blockbase too. Imho Eq is the most user friendly quiltprogram there is. My latest project is designing the layout of the tiles for our new bathroom floor. Traced an image of the mosaic tile and now playing around with my “quilt-tilefloor”. I can show the builder the print and he can go ahead!

I learned about EQ7 through my quilt guild in 2010. I was new to quilting and EQ7 helped me learn about the different blocks and quilt layouts. Took a few courses and have started to put it good use now that I know how to quilt more intricate designs.

I first learned about EQ7, or any version of EQ for that matter, in early 2015 when I made the decision to make each of my 5 grandchildren a quilt for Christmas that year. I was a relative beginner at quilting. I would find a pattern I loved but it wouldn’t be the right size, and I would struggle through trying to adapt it and figure out how much fabric I needed. I searched the internet for help and found EQ7. Thanks to EQ7 I completed 5 queen size quilts in time for Christmas and fell in love with quilting! I still have a lot to learn about EQ7, but i never start a quilt without laying it out in EQ7, and I love the ability to scan my fabric and design my quilts with the actual fabric I’m using!

I have used EQ forever I love technology and was fascinated by what could be done with the computer and my quilting – I saw and advertisement in a magazine and checked it out via the internet — convinced my local quilt shop to carry it.

I first heard of EQ when I needed a new sewing machine. My old machine had died from being overworked. I did not even know until then that there were such a thing as embroidery/sewing machines. In the process of looking for a new machine we also found the EQ software and we have been enthralled with it ever since. My husband and I use the program with almost every quilt we make. We were both teachers with a growing family and did not have much time in 1996 so just imagine how much fun we were having seeing this new product along with sewing machines we did not even know existed. Thank you EQ!

I have been wanting this program for awhile and still haven’t bought it as I’m still working full-time (retirement is soon!) When I first started quilting, in 2012, I made a bed quilt….only I made 25 squares that finished at 6″ each. Oops! A friend came to my rescue and used her EQ7 to design a setting that would still let those 6″ blocks shine, yet in a quilt big enough for my queen sized bed. Shortly after, a relative saw my stack of sketch paper quilt designs and bought EQ7 for me as a Christmas gift. I would be lost without it! I probably have used it once a week since then, at least. I’m still terrible at quilt math, but my EQ does it for me so I don’t have to!

On our first holiday to the USA in May 2006, I bought a quilting magazine and saw EQ5 advertised in it. I was sooooo excited! On 10th July 2006 I bought a copy of EQ5 for myself by mail order and have since upgraded to EQ6 and EQ7. I love it! And am always finding new things to learn.

A guest speaker “Pattie Carrie” from Northcott Fabrics, said that she gets some of her ideas from using the EQ7. So they had a class at the Quilt Store, Newmarket, On CANADA. I ordered the EQ7 for my Mac and took the class. The teacher would not allow me to to hook up to the stores Wi Fi. Therefore I missed the entire mornings lesson. Very displeased with the class because I didn’t learn anything Wanted to order the book to learn but the price is OK but shipping charges just added to the expense plus the Canadian exchange to USA. Didn’t mean to vent to you, just wanted to win Timeless Treasures Fat Quarters.

12:09 pm
I first heard of EQ when EQ 4 came out and I saw it listed in a Quiltmaker magazine. Up until then I had been drafting patterns on graph paper and this was like an answer to prayer because my designs were getting too complex for the graph paper and my limited drawing skills. Hooked ever since.
11-10-2016
12:10 pm
I have never heard of it before this newsletter.
11-10-2016

I first came across EQ in 2008 when I was beginning to get more serious about quilting. I then looked at all the different programs which would give me designing skills and eventually chose EQ7 because it was the best in every way. How did I find it? – I met our UK distributor at a show and he demonstrated it to me.
11-10-2016
12:17 pm
I first started with EQ5 when it was available – and I don’t remember the date, but I read about it in various quilting magazines. I actually bought a used Windows laptop so I could use it and was thrilled when a Mac version of EQ7 was available. I use it mostly to see how colour placement in a quilt block and quilt will change the look when designing a quilt. I can’t imagine not having EQ!
11-10-2016
12:18 pm
I upgraded from eq 6 when 7 first came out.
11-10-2016
12:19 pm

I first learned about EQ, then version 5, from the owner of the quilt store I worked at in 2003. I also learned about QuiltPro about the same time. Electric Quilt, in my opinion, is a far superior product.
11-10-2016
12:19 pm
I don’t remember when I first heard about Electric Quilt, but I remember being very impressed with it after a program given on EQ at Black Swamp Quilt Guild by one of your staff.
At that point I was hooked and I love playing with it. I make a lot more quilts on the computer than I will ever be able to make.
11-10-2016
12:20 pm
A quilt friend showed me EQ. I was finally able to get it myself last year for Christmas. I have taken EQ classes. Enjoying learning the product and what I have learned using this tool.

11-10-2016
12:22 pm
I was given EQ 4 for my birthday from a dear friend. I have continued to purchase #5,6,and 7. I find these programs an invaluable tool to creation. I would encourage people new to quilting to purchase EQ and realize the potential in their abilities.

I first heard about EQ when I when I was making samples for a local quilt store in Grass Valley in 1998. The store in Grass Valley is no longer open but I am still an avid quilter that is referred to therapy in my house. I like the changes EQ has done to make the software more user-friendly.

I heard of EQ when a friend and I went to a “Mariner’s Compass” class with Chris Kenna as our tutor, at Masterton, New Zealand, in May , 2009. I was amazed at the variations she showed us.

My sister introduced me to EQ in 2003 and I have used it constantly since then. I have designed quilt layout to make quilts for family, friends, and myself as well as designing layouts for my guild. I love it. Thanks EQ
11-10-2016
12:31 pm
I found out about EQ in one of the yahoo groups I belong to and purchased it about 7 years ago. I like the fact I can “audition” my fabrics in the quilt I design to obtain the best colour combinations.
11-10-2016
12:32 pm
My first knowledge of EQ was 2010 while working for Deb Luttrell at Stitchin’ Heaven, Quitman, TX (now Mineola, TX). While I’ve never considered myself artistic, I’ve always believed I have a creative ability to use the software. I continue to be excited about new possibilities in quilting.
11-10-2016
12:32 pm
I just heard about it for the first time in an email this morning!
11-10-2016
12:32 pm
I first heard about EQ software from a friend in my quilting class. I had just started quilting, and I was graphing out the quilt top design and coloring it in. My classmate, told me I needed to get EQ5 which was current at that time. Shortly after that, I did get the EQ 5 software, and used it often in designing my quilts. A few years ago I upgraded to EQ 7. I love designing with it.

12:33 pm
It’s been a long time but I believe I first saw info in quilting magazines. Whenever, however, I am very glad I bought it. It’s extremely useful.

12:33 pm
About 1996 I quit playing golf and took up quilting. At that time I had 4 sons and three daughter-in-laws and 11 grandchildren. So shortly after 1996 I saw your ad for EQ7 and my husband, being the good guy that he is bought the EQ7 for me. I had lots of fun trying to learn to use is.. I didn’t grow up using computers the way my sons did. I still have some trouble with navigating sites. I have my oldest son now living next door to me and he helps me learn to navigate the sites and download things. Your fat quarters are beautiful and I am sure they would help me get back to quilting again. They say you can teach an old dog new tricks. Being 85 I sure hope so. Henri

12:35 pm
I bought electric quilt in 2013, not sure which version that is. Heard about it on quilting blogs. crystalbluern at tds dot net

12:35 pm
I love my EQ7. I’ve been using it since it came out, or shortly after that. I’m pretty sure I saw info about it online, either Facebook or Quilt In A Day, and ordered it through Pocono Sew & Vac. Thanks for the fun give-aways this year.
11-10-2016
12:36 pm
The owner of a quilt store was using it and thought I would be interested. I had been drawing my designs on graph paper. I love it.

11-10-2016
12:36 pm
I actually got the first version. I believe I saw it on a quilting show on PBS. I have upgraded every time there has been a new version since then.
11-10-2016
12:36 pm
I probably heard on a PBS station back when I got Electric Quilt 4. If not on a PBS station (that’s all there was back then) then it was in Quilting magazines that I subscribe to. I have EQ7 now with EQ Stitch and I still enjoy using my programs.
11-10-2016
12:36 pm
As my first EQ was EQ5 it was long long ago, and have now upgraded to EQ7 via EQ6. I first heard of EQ in the days of Newsgroups from a member in the USA (I’m in the UK) and find it invaluable – though there is always more to learn. Happy Anniversary to EQ!
11-10-2016
12:37 pm
I have been using EQ software for a number of years and really enjoy designing and teaching the quilts that I have designed on the program.
11-10-2016
12:38 pm
I purchased EQ7 when it first became available after seeing it in a quilting magazine. Unfortunately, my disc has become scratched through the years and is a nightmare to register when I change computers. I would love a new copy so I could begin fresh and take lessons to really appreciate what the product is designed for.
11-10-2016
12:39 pm
I have never worked with EQ but read about it on different blogs and web sites and magazines. It sure looks interesting and helpful since I’m not very creative and usually buy patterns.
11-10-2016
12:39 pm
I’ve heard of the software from designers who use it on their blogs.
11-10-2016

11-10-2016
12:40 pm
I first heard about EQ7 when it was fairly new, and Kathy Wylie was going to be teaching an intro class to EQ at my local quilt shop, Quilters Cupboard in Uxbridge, Ontario Canada; bought it, took the class and a follow-up class, and use EQ for planning my own quilt designs.
11-10-2016

11-10-2016

Was a costumer for years for a local theater and schools. Started using the scraps for quilts and fell in love with quilting. Researched and researched to find a program to make it easier to design and estimate fabric needed. I give my quilts away because it is a love I want to share with others.
11-10-2016
12:45 pm
I purchased EQ about 10 years ago. Don’t use it as much as I should.:-}
11-10-2016
12:47 pm
I heard about EQ so many yeaars ago that I’ve forgotten where and when! Mostly I design my quilts by hand, but it’s getting harder to find scrap paper, so I guess I’ll have to finally break down and get EQ7! Probably WAY easier than what I do now.
11-10-2016
12:48 pm

I first learned about EQ years ago when i wanted to explore the possibility of designing my own quilts, i started with EQ6, and moved to EQ7. i absolutely love being able to design new unique quilt blocks and also create new ways to use the traditional blocks by changing coloring.

I started seriously quilting in the 1980s. After using reams of graph paper and hearing about EQ products from so many other quilters, I finally bought EQ5. I’ve upgraded twice and now have Stitch, though I’m ashamed to admit I’m not using it enough.
11-10-2016

I think it was at my quilt guild but I’ve had the software since version 5 and I don’t really remember. There are still things I want to learn to do with it but actually making quilts sometimes gets in my way of doing that.
11-10-2016
1:03 pm
I think I first heard about Electric Quilt version 4 or 5 in magazine articles. I bought EQ7 in 2010, and I love using it, although there are many things that I don’t know about it.

About 4 years ago, I was struggling to create a quilt design in MS Excel. I scanned my fabrics and cut & pasted them into blocks/cells. It was pretty cool – but a lot of work and very limiting for shapes. I was describing this process to my beginning quilting instructor who told me about your product! EQ7 is eons above my efforts and I would love to use it in my home! Thanks for this giveaway opportunity!
11-10-2016

1:19 pm
First heard about EQ7 about 3 years ago when I started quilting. I bought it for myself as a Christmas present. I know the basics of it but have not really “embraced” it as I should. I just need to take the time to really learn what it can do for me as I want to design my own quilts.
11-10-2016
1:19 pm
I first read about EQ in my quilting magazines that I receive and then through the email lists.
11-10-2016
1:19 pm
I first learned about this thing Called Electric Quilt and a demo at my local quilt shop. Back in 92, the only quilt shop in Northern Virginia was the Quilt Patch and I frequented them on a regular basis. The owner told me about this demo for a design product she thought I might like. My husband and I went down a Saturday shortly before Christmas and Santa brought me the first version. I laugh now thinking about drawing using the keyboard cursers, but it worked! And the rest, as they say is history! I love it and the staff. I wouldn’t think of making a quilt without putting it into EQ first. Keep up the great work!
Happy Anniversary

I’ve had an EQ program forever! A fellow quilter introduced me to EQ3 ; then I bought my own EQ4 and remember using multiple floppy discs to put it into my computer. There was a stiff learning curve then so I’m very pleased that it’s easier to use now ; especially love the support your company gives to users of this great product. Have upgraded over the years and can’t imagine making quilts without EQ7 being somewhere in the picture.
11-10-2016

I first saw this in my quilting magazine about a year ago. I can’t wait to be able to design and see the actual fabrics I want to use and shuffle them around!
11-10-2016
1:26 pm
While taking classes for my new sewing machine the instructor mentioned to the class the EQ7 software and told the class how to get it. This was something I could use and needed, as I felt a beginner. So I got it and have bein going full speed ever since. Love it and It is fun too.

Ea very good friend told me about EQ5 quite some time ago now.

I only began quilting just over a year ago. I’m in a couple of quilting groups and I signed up for some Craftsy quilt classes. In one of the classes, the instructor mentioned EQ7 and I looked into it. That was probably during the fall 2015. It took a bit as my budget has only allowed me to add all the items I need for quilting a little at a time, but I was sooooo happy when I finally got the software. Now I need the time to really learn it better!
11-10-2016
1:33 pm

1:40 pm
Three years ago when involved in making patriotic quilts as a special favor for a new quilt friend’s wish to give a quilt to each member of her daughter’s squad before they were being shipped to a war zone, another member of this wonderful group offered to make a block I found into a foundation piecing block to assist in all the points in this lovely block. When she told me she would be doing it on her EQ program, she had my attention! It took me a few years to save up to get my EQ7 and I recently purchased a couple books during the recent sale to help me get the most out of this great program! Scaling back my sewing business for the first 6 months of 2017 to focus on learning EQ and following my desire to design.
11-10-2016
1:40 pm
I first heard about EQ7 right when EQ7 was first coming out. I had another quilt program (not EQ), but it didn’t let me do my own designs. I love using EQ7. I use it to make all of my quilts and appliques. It is so easy and fun to use with the instructions that come with it. I would and have recommended it to several others.
11-10-2016
1:42 pm
Gosh, 2007 maybe, I started with EQ6 and now have EQ7. I am pretty sure I heard about it on someone’s blog. Too many projects to remember with precision, I’ll save that for piecing.
11-10-2016
1:42 pm
I love EQ. Not sure which version I started with but had EQ 5 & 6 and was thrilled when EQ 7 came out for the MAC.

I don’t remember how I heard of it. Probably word of mouth.
11-10-2016
1:43 pm
Heard about EQ at my quilt guild, researched what it was about and thought it provided great value for the money. I have only been using it for 3-4 yrs. Love to design my own quilts, resize blocks and audition colours. I have taken a few classes and bought EQ Stitch.
11-10-2016
1:44 pm
I heard about EQ while in a quilting store looking for fabric. I overheard one person talking about what a great product it was and asked the owner. She said I was in luck because one of local ladies was offering a class and I signed up for it and have been using it every since. Thanks for a wonderful product.

1:48 pm
I heard about EQ software from a guild member about 5 years ago.
11-10-2016
1:50 pm
I can’t remember how I learned of EQ. I started out with EQ5 and now I’m on EQ7. Not only do I design all my patterns with it, I also teach with it. When I teach a class, I can enter a near approximation of the fabrics each person has chosen for the class. They can then get an idea if their colours will work or not. Sometimes, a change is required and sometimes just a shifting of colours is what’s needed. I found EQ to be a very versatile piece of software. Thanks EQ!
11-10-2016
1:51 pm
I knew that there had to be some sort of design software out there and started searching on the internet. I found a number of different softwares but when I investigated, EQ6 and EQ7 had the most features/capabilities. I did try one of the cheaper softwares first and realized that you get what you pay for… Love EQ7!!
11-10-2016
1:53 pm
About the time EQ2 became available I read about it in a needlework magazine. Decided it was the best and bought it. Upgraded as each new version became available and now work with the EQ7. I create my own quilts, also input quilt patterns that I want to change the size. So much fun and so easy. For awhile I had a small group of ladies here once a month and we worked through lessons. Any time I get an idea for a quilt I scan in my fabrics and go for it. Definitely lose track then, but it is time well spent. I am forever telling others this is what they do.
11-10-2016
1:54 pm
I learned of EQ7 from watching a terrific class given by Kimberly Einmo! I am going through the lessons now and amazed at the capabilities!

It would be exciting to use I’m sure.

11-10-2016

I cannot possibly remember I’ve had it so long. I think my first version was 3. I’ve loved it ever since. And the upgrades have made it so much better and more powerful.
11-10-2016
2:02 pm
My first version was 5, and I honestly don’t remember where I heard of it first! A magazine would be my best guess.
11-10-2016
2:02 pm
I had a friend who had an EQ uncertain of the year I bought some fabric because I loved it without a pattern and she designed a pattern for me it was wonderful this quilt remains to be one of my favorite
11-10-2016
2:03 pm
The first version I purchased was EQ6, so long ago that I don’t really remember the year. The second quilt I ever made, used as a wedding present for a much loved nephew, was created on EQ6. I loved creating with it, even if the creations were never turned into actual quilts. I upgraded to EQ7 as soon as it became available but, somewhere over the years, used the software less and less. Getting your regular emails and following the blogs has inspired me to once again get back to it, re-learn its uses and find new inspiration.
11-10-2016
2:04 pm
I found EQ when, as a new quilter I started searching the internet for anything having to do with quilting. At the time I wasn’t sure I knew enough to use it much but now that I have been quilting a couple years I realize what a great tool it would be. I would love to be able to audition fabrics so I can change up quilts I see and like but would like to see how they look in other palettes. My next step would be designing my own patterns.
11-10-2016
2:04 pm
After sewing all of my life, I became a first-time quilter a year ago and discovered at that time, EQ quilting software while scouring the internet and quilting magazines for patterns and fabrics that I still can’t get enough of!
11-10-2016
2:05 pm
I started with EQ4 and have progressed with each version. Love it for adding borders! I am not sure where I first heard about the software (most likely a magazine)but love computers and decided it would be a good fit.
11-10-2016
2:06 pm
I have had EQ since version 4 or 5. I now have 7 and Stitch. I love the software but truthfully do not use it to it’s full capacity. I am amazed at how robust this program is. I am currently working on a t-shirt quilt and have decided to start doing the lessons included in the help section. It’s amazing how much I’ve already learned. Also, I have the additional books which are also a font of knowledge. I’m making this my goal – to have more knowledge thereby increasing my usage of the program. I really love Electric Quilt plus they have THE BEST customer service ever!!!
11-10-2016
2:06 pm
I learned about the EQ software 5 years ago while talking to a friend of mine at a Guild meeting.

2:07 pm
I don’t really know where or when I first learned about Electric Quilt software. I have had a couple of the ealier version of EQ. I had a different company quilt designing program that I used earlier. I switched over to EQ and have really enjoyed using it. I use to teach classes. I used EQ to write and draw my class samples and loved how easy I could transfer it into my word processor to make hand outs for my classes.
I know I was using the EQ program in 2004.
I have just updated to the EQ7 and continue to love the program.
11-10-2016
2:07 pm
When I retired about five years ago, I found time to look for new crafts and quilting was one of them. While searching for something else online, I found EQ7 and bought it. I’m now (don’t ask!) learning to use it. The program mixes my two favorite things which are computers and sewing.

In the early 90′s, my sister and I went to Paducah for the Quilt Show. EQ had a place selling the software. It didn’t even have a number then. I bought it and every upgrade since. I still have my receipt from my first purchase.

It’s been ages since I heard about Electric Quilt. I do believe it was on a quilting Yahoo group I belonged to. These groups are fantastic because you learn of ‘what’out there’, as well as get great support and help with problems you have encountered.

Several years ago I went to a workshop and one of those attending was so excited about the EQ software she had and described many of the things it could do. The next year I put it on my Christmas list and Mr. Wonderful came through!!! It is so helpful in planning quilts–especially I often start with and idea and run with it–not using a regular pattern. Planning colors and sizes is so much easier to audition fabrics.

2:24 pm
I just heard about heard about EQ design software through this email.
11-10-2016
2:24 pm
I learned about EQ7 from an entry in a LQS Newsletter. The idea of using a program to design my own quilts and see how the fabrics looked was intriguing. The program was reinforced when I heard someone talking about how the use it at a quilt seminar.

I first downloaded a demo copy of EQ back in the late 1990′s! I was sold. It’s been a while, but great to see the upgrades and improvements on this fine piece of Quilt Software. I believe I first found it on Softexpressions.com. I will definitely look at the latest EQ Software and see what’s new!
Thank you

Hi there,
I first heard about EQ in the early 2000s. I think Connecting Threads had it in their catalogue. I have been wanting to try it for years as it would be much easier to store my quilt/block designs on my Mac, instead of multiple sketch/graph paper books!
Thanks & Quilty Huggs!
11-10-2016
2:36 pm
I heard about it at a quilt show. Someone was using it.
11-10-2016
2:38 pm
I first heard of EQ about 4-5 years ago. I was at my LQS working on a quilt, during an open sew session. A couple people sitting near me, started talking with the owner about a quilt she was designing for a new block of the month program. She told them about one of her employees offering to help with the design using EQ. She said it made designing the quilt a lot easier and faster.

I first saw EQ on America Sews with Sue Hausman. I enjoyed that show, but I do not see it on PBS anymore. The creatirs, a married couple showed how to use it! Congrats you crested a very popular & useful tool. I struggle with color so I feel EQ would help me to design fantastic quilts!
11-10-2016
2:48 pm
It was way back when the first or second version was available. I was so excited to get the program and used it for many quilt designs. Wish I had time to make them all.

Many many years ago, I used to sit at my sewing machine on weekends and watch the quilting shows on my local PBS stations. My quilts were designed on graph paper. But calculating the fabric needed was quite a chore. It was several years after college, I had bills to pay, so I generally bought just what I needed to make a quilt. One day a lady came on to demonstrate EQ. Not only could could she design a quilt, but she could easily change the color or fabric! It could also tell me how much fabric I needed! Plus this product was made in my hometown!! I figured it was probably too expensive for me. But it stayed in my mind as I continued to design my quilts on paper. Several years later, talking to my mom one day I told her about this amazing program and how nice it would be to have it. And the next Christmas, EQ3 was in my stocking!!
11-10-2016
2:51 pm
I discovered it a few months ago while I was searching for tips on designing quilts on Pinterest. Now the software is on my Christmas list!

I fist heard about EQ during the 1996 Quilt Festival in Houston. My friend who already had EQ asked Penny if when she purchased the new EQ she could give the old one to me. Since I live in Israel Penny agreed and I became the very pleased recipient of my friends old EQ’s till I finally purchased my own EQ5, then EQ6 and now I also have EQ7.
Warm regards,

I have heard about the EQ7 years ago, I love quilting, but the expense of EQ software was more than I could spend. I would love to win this package, I am now retired and could surely enjoy the software application.

Great tool.

First time I heard about EQ7 was in a quilt magazine. Of course, I then headed over to your website and I was hooked. I took a lesson at the Houston Quilt Show for beginners. There is so much this program can do that it boggles the mind.

Wow, that takes me back! I know I had EQ4 on a desktop that has long been replaced, upgraded to EQ5, then 6 and have had EQ7 for a long time. Can’t remember where I fist purchased, either at a major quilt show or my LQS…

When I was a new quilter, my sister, a long-time quilter, (I would never call her an “old” quilter) told me about EQ. I purchased EQ7 this year and took 2 classes from Mary Ellen Krantz at the International Quilt Festival 2016 in Houston. I am so excited to discover the wonderful projects and associated functions available in EQ and am sure I will use it again and again.
11-10-2016

I started with EQ4, so that is the when. I don’t remember the how….must have been through a quilting users group on the internet, long before there were blogs!

I stumbled upon Sue Spargo’s stand alone software package by EQ several years back when I first became enamored with her work. And this led me to the EQ website and fabulous customer service who helped me find that software. I had such a wonderful experience that a bit later I decided I just had to have EQ7 software too.
11-10-2016
3:27 pm
It was many years ago when I first purchased EQ, I think it was version 3 or 4. I believe I saw it demonstrated on a TV Quilt Show — probably Simply Quilts. I had to have it. I have loved it from the beginning. I now use EQ 7. It enables me to scan in my own fabric or use the wonderful fabric libraries, to be able to design and visualize the blocks and quilts I want to create. I’m sure I haven’t scratched the surface as far as all the features it provides. A day without EQ is a day without sunshine. Thank you EQ and congratulations on 25 Years.
11-10-2016
3:29 pm
Not sure when, but it’s been years probably around 10 yrs when I first started quilting.

3:30 pm
I found a passion for quilting when my daughter was just a toddler. I took my first quilting class and was hooked. Several years later, I found employment in a quilt shop (as a professional addict), and found the owner used EQ to design quilts and was intrigued. Started to use it in the shop and bought it immediately. I am always learning something new about it every time I use it .. altho’ I can design a quilt much faster than I can sew it theses days. Love how the program takes all our visions and puts them into a finished product. I have a son in the Marine Corp and have been working with Quilts of Valor for the past 3 yrs, again, so many quilts, so little time. And my passion continues ..

I happened upon the EQ website several years ago when I was on a quest to find Sue Spargo’s stand alone software after becoming very enamored with her work. That was such a pleasant experience that I decided that I just had to have EQ7, too.

I first hear about Eq software about 4 years ago from an INTERNET add or link on the shop hop site. I tried the free version of it. I had it on my computer and my computer has died. Thanks for the giveaway.
11-10-2016
3:34 pm
I believe I first heard about EQ on a TV show years ago, but can’t remember which one. Then I started seeing it in quilt magazines, and learned more. I finally bought EQ6 and have upgraded to 7. My favorite part is being able to scan in the fabrics I will be using so I get a really true idea of what a quilt will look like. I feel more confident with my fabric choices when I do this.
11-10-2016
3:35 pm
I was attending a local quilt guild monthly meeting in 2005 when I first heard about EQ. I know a good number of quilters now using one version or another of EQ and they all love it!

3:43 pm
I first heard about EQ7 in a magazine and thought it might be what I was looking for. So nice to have a program designed just for quilters instead of having to use Photoshop Elements and adapt it to whatever I need. Thanks so much.
11-10-2016
3:43 pm
After retirement I had to find a way to use all that fabric I had leftover from making garments for my family. Quilting has endless inspiration in that I can use every kind of fabric. EQ is sooooo helpful in many design development efforts.
11-10-2016
3:45 pm
I bought EQ back in 1994,before it was numbered. Still have the boxed hard cover binder the manual came in! The children have grown up and I still don’t have the time to learn the program completely. I learn what I need to make the quilt I am working on at the time. I’m sure EQ8 will be out before I get 1/2 of EQ7 mastered.
As to where I first heard about EQ I can not remember.
Congratulations on 25 years of providing a great design program.

My Aunt talks about it all the time. I hope to own it someday.

3:48 pm
I first learned of EQ7 from a locally owned fabric store. I went in with a drawing I had done in Microsoft word and she asked if I was using EQ7. I asked what it was, did some research, and purchased the program about a month later. I am loving my EQ7. I have so much more to learn.
11-10-2016
3:51 pm
I think I must have seen Penny talk about EQ on her show. I was a software technical writer and a closet quilter, so I was fascinated by what it could do. Besides the visual feedback that spurs creativity, it calculates yardage needed. Those features alone had me sold. I bought the first version ASAP and have upgraded with each new update. This is one piece of software I would not give up for anything!
11-10-2016
3:51 pm
My dear departed friend loved EQ. She was the first one in our group to have it. I think she designed more quilts then she ever made lol.

3:59 pm
I first learned about EQ6 in 2009. I was at a sewing show and saw it there. After that I did some research online and then purchased it. I updated to EQ7 when that came out and bought the migration kit for Mac as that is all I use now. Then I bought EQ Stitch but had to split my hard drive with “bootcamp” in order to use it. That’s the only problem I have is having to use Microsoft when it is so “foreign” to me. Just wish I could use it with my Mac. I’d probably use it more!
11-10-2016
3:59 pm
My mother in law many years ago told me about it. She said I will buy it for you…and you learn. Then show me how to use it. Lol. Then she bought herself one because she loved it so much. It was EQ4 then.
11-10-2016

I am not sure if I heard about you first at the first MQX that I went to, or in Machine Quilting Unlimited. I bought EQ7 and then EQ stitch and I still have not mastered the program. I design quilts for my customers as well as quilt other quilters quilt tops. It would be great if I could fully utilize all of the EQ7/EQstitch capabilities when designing quilts.
11-10-2016

4:15 pm
I found out about EQ design software by doing research online in 2012. I purchased it then but didn’t get to work with it very much until 2015. The program has so much to offer I doubt I’ll ever know all it is capable of doing, but will enjoy learning more as I design more. I’ve worked my way through a majority of the lessons/tutorials and now focus on learning by doing and designing quilts to make. Thanks for a great and versatile program and Congrats on your 25th anniversary!!!

I have been using the Electric Quilt Program since the release of it’s first version Electric Quilt 0.1 in 1991.
Your program and updates through the years have not only helped me to design my own quilts, but have given me the tools necessary to explore the many different interpetations that pattern minipulation can make to my final quilt designs.
Thank you for making me a better quilter.

I started quilting in 2010 and went to my first retreat in 2011 where one of the quilters had her laptop and was working in EQ7! I was fascinated and could see so much potential for it’s use. I got my husband to get it for me for the next Christmas and love to be able to design in it and to change up colors, re-arrange blocks, etc.

I think I must have seen it advertised in a quilting magazine about 2005 or so. I was already trying to use Word or Excel to draw quilts – or at least plan them – so the idea of real software was exciting. I still love using it; if only I had time to make all the quilts I design!
11-10-2016
5:51 pm
I learned abouit EQ many years ago. I really don’t remember when or how. I have never known someone who owns the software so I can learn about it or it’s results. I am not familiar with what it does and how it works. I would like to design a quilt for my husband but… I don;t know if EQ could help me. Basically, I’ve heard it exists for designing quilts and that’s it.

Too weak to work on actual quilts, I could enjoy the visual experience. I just upgraded to EQ7 on my MAC. I have been in remission for almost 10 years and looking forward to more actual quilts.

It seemed like a lot of people were buying it, or QuiltSoft, and I sat at booths looking at both, but didn’t have the money to buy either one. I still don’t. =) Thanks for the giveaway.

I first heard about EQ several years ago on a quilting blog. I couldn’t believe that a program to make quilts was available! I found it online at several sewing machine stores I check out regularly. After purchasing it I’ve found the best way for me to learn is following along page by page in the book (EQ6). I’d love to upgrade to EQ7 and buy some add-ons. It’s fun to use and love, love, love that I can scan and add my own fabrics to use in creating quilts! After all, a picture’s worth a thousand blocks!

I first heard of EQ2, from my quilter friend who had that, but she didn’t really use it, so she gave it to me, it was October 1996, in Concord Ca. I know because I still have the FLOPPY GAZETTE she gave me with the CD.

11:11 pm
In the spring of 2003, I hired a pair of quilt designers/teachers/authors to come to teach and give a trunk show for our local guild. They told us their story about how they got started, and noticed, in the quilt world, and how EQ was a valuable tool for them for designing and writing their patterns. I purchased EQ5 less than a year later, after I sold my gift store, bought a longarm, and started my sewing/quilting business. I upgraded with 6 & 7 and it has proved to be a very valuable tool indeed.
11-10-2016

I only used it like a color book at first but now some of us in Westside Quilters Guild in Hillsboro, Oregon, are getting together monthly to learn and practice more of the features. We love it.

My sister’s mother in law wanted one of the early additions of EQ & did not know where to get it. Since my sister lived in Perrysburg Ohio just north of Bowling Green she just drove over to the EQ office & walked in asking to buy it for her. That was long before EQ was selling direct & they had no idea how to sell it to her. They figured that out eventually & she left making her mother in law a happy quilter.
