I don’t have a long or mid arm machine. And I don’t have a long arm quilter nearby, so I quilt all my own quilts on my Bernina 717, she is probably about 80 + years old.
10-10-2016

10-10-2016
9:54 am
I don’t own a long arm or mid-arm machine; I send my larger quilts to a general store in central Pennsylvania for hand quilting by Amish ladies, or I give them to local long arm quilters for machine quilting. I love learning machine quilting skills and do my own small quilts on my Bernina. I’ve used EQ motifs to create stencils—not yet an EQ Stitch user.
10-10-2016
9:54 am
No to both questions. I quilt on my home machine. But I did recently upgrade to a Janome MC15000 so I have a lot more room.

10-10-2016
9:57 am
I hsve an 18″ midarm on a frame. It is packed away because I prefer quilting at a sit down table with my Janome 8900. I quilt my own quilts and can do any size of quilt with my set-up. I would always accept a larger throat sit-down machine if I won one though!
10-10-2016
9:57 am

10-10-2016
10:01 am
Yes, I own a mid arm BAILEY’S Home Quilter mounted on a Little Gracie frame which I use when making twin size and larger quilts. Otherwise, I enjoy free motion quilting with my Janome 8900 sewing machine. I would like to have a sit down model mid arm quilting machine since I find it so enjoyable to do free motion on my domestic sewing machine. It would be the ultimate combination of machines for free motion!
10-10-2016

10-10-2016

10:04 am
I have a Sweet 16 and a Tin Lizzie. I quilt my own quilts.
10-10-2016
10:04 am
I do not have a long arm machine. I think the newer smaller machines that can perform like a long arm but, allow you to sit and don’t have to be 8′ long, are the next frontier for quilters. I have rented a long arm for a 102″ long bargello quilt but, mostly I quilt or “quilt as you go” on my Pfaff Performance 5.0. I like the challenge that quilting my own quilts gives me and control over the final outcome of the quilting that impacts the overall look of the final project.
10-10-2016
10:05 am
Yes, I have a Gammill Premiere with a stitch regulator. Before I acquired it, I quilted on my Bernina 440.

My dream machine, though, would be the HQ Sweet Sixteen….oh my word, that thing is wonderful. Maybe one day I’ll vault all the way to a stand-up longarm, but I had a class on the Sweet 16 and pretty much fell in love…..

Yes, I own an APQS Millie. She was my reward for being brave through cancer surgery and treatment and coming out free on the other side. I absolutely love her!! I used to do small quilts on my domestic machine and larger ones on the long arm where I work, but it is a beast. So now my skills are improving – I am the queen of stippling in any size- and I am improving on other free motion designs. Such fun! Now to finish the closet full of UFOs I have.

Now we have become great friends, spending hours on end quilting and catching up on lost time.

Happy 25th! I do not own a long-arm, wish i did; and maybe will when I have enough time to learn how to use it. Currently I either pay someone to quilt my quilts, or if the quilting is easy enough, I do it myself using either straight stitches and my walking foot or my embroidery machine.

I don’t have a long or mid-arm machine. I’d love one, but don’t have the room and can’t justify the expense. I do all of my quilting, free-motion style, on my domestic machine, a Janome 6600. Even king-sized quilts!
10-13-2016
7:54 am
No, I do not own any type of long-arm or mid-arm quilting machine. I WISH!!! Used one at Charlotte, NC quilt show & it was extremely easy & it felt like I was ice skating on fabric. I have paid to have LgArm quilting done, but “long” to learn machine quilting soon. I wish LgArm quilters would teach us ‘how-to’s’ to make those amazingly beautiful prize-winning designs. I think it’s important to challenge quilters more…in both design & quilting techniques.
10-13-2016
8:43 am

I don’t have a long or a mid arm machine. My home machine can quilt but to be honest I haven’t gotten that far yet. I have one large quilt that only needs borders that I will most likely send out to be done. Although I don’t know where yet.
10-13-2016
10:41 pm
I own a mid-arm. Sunshine 16. It’s a very basic machine but it works for me. I have used a Handi Quilter at AQS Quilt Show classes. It was nice to have a stitch regulator.

10-14-2016
7:53 am
I don’t have a longarm or a midarm. I machine quilt on a 1997 Pfaff. Although it works great, never flubs up, and makes beautiful stitches, I would love something bigger. Most of what I quilt is queen sized or larger and at my age (71) its getting too strenuous to handle these quilts.
10-14-2016
8:20 am
I have a HQ Avante with prostitcher. I love the machine and the support is soooo good.

10-14-2016
9:17 am
I do not own either a mid arm or a long arm machine. But one of them is on my wish list (probably a mid arm as I believe the learning curve from FMQing on a domestic would be less. I love quilting on my domestic for smaller projects but larger ones are definitely more of a challenge. I don’t send my quilts out to be quilted.
10-14-2016
10:01 am
I own the Pfaff 18.8 longarm and frame.

10-14-2016
11:48 am
No long arm. Do all my quilting with my domestic janome machine or by hand.
10-14-2016

I have a Bernina Q20 now, sit down model. I love doing my own freemotion quilting which is a good thing as my quilts are usually big and have a lot of quilting. Good lighting really helps!
10-14-2016
1:09 pm
I own an HQ Sweet Sixteen, and sweet she is! As for the ‘light strip’- what a great idea.
10-14-2016
3:20 pm
I have always paid someone else to do my quilting. However, I just bought a 26″ Handi Quilter. I have done alot of freemotion stitching over the years, so I am ready to go!!! The scissors and light strip look so handy!! Those are things I don’t have yet!!! How exciting it would be to win even one of those things!

10-14-2016

10-15-2016
8:32 am
I have a Juki 2010q. It’s marketed as a longarm, but not really what I’d consider a longarm. I love it anyway! A true longarm is way out of my budget and my Juki is the next best thing. I love it!
10-15-2016
8:48 am
No, I don’t have one yet but I want one! At this point, I do all my quilting on my Babylock.
10-15-2016

10-15-2016
11:40 am
I pay a professional LAQ for 2-3 of my quilts each year and do another 2-3 myself on my domestic machine.
10-15-2016
12:03 pm

2:25 pm
Happy 25th Anniversary EQ!!
No I don’t own a long arm or mid arm quilting machine. Nor do I pay a professional to quilt my quilts. My budget does not stretch to either. I hand quilt the special ones and ditch stitch and straight stitch those for children. I am working on teaching myself to quilt free motion but seem to have ten thumbs and am very uncoordinated.
Thank you for the opportunity to win a copy of EQ7. I have EQ5 but would love all the new bells and whistles of EQ7.

I have a Gammill long arm quilting machine. I still work full time and have not been able to use it for a while. I enjoy completing my quilts myself. I still have a lot to learn and look forward to working part time and spending more time quilting.

5:45 pm
I have a Janome sewing machine and a large frame that I can put the machine on and it allows me to turn it into a long arm quilting machine. This is fantastic for the larger quilts. I do most of my smaller quilts with just the sewing machine and not the frame.

I don’t have a long arm quilting machine. I do some on my machine but mostly I hand quilt. I have always been fascinated by them and read everything on their operation that I can. A long arm is something I dream about owning. I don’t send my quilts out to be done. All my quilts I do myself. Also I would be lost without EQ 7 and Stitch so I wish EQ a Very Happy Anniversary. Yeah for EQ!

10-17-2016

9:21 pm
I do not own a quilting machine, but I have been looking for a couple of years now. There are alot of options that I need to figure out which are luxury options versus really needed options. I just found out about the software and the contest, better late than never. It is really nice of the sponsors to have monthly contest to celebrate the Electric Quilt Company’s 25th anniversary. It is a great accomplishment for any business to celebrate 25 years, so the Electric Quilt Company should be really proud of this anniversary, sending wishes for the next twenty fives years. I have four quilts that need to be quilted, their large and I put so much work into making them, that I am afraid of messing them up. I need to get the courage. I have Rhumatoid Arthritis and it has destroyed my hands, so cutting takes me forever, pins stink and sometimes holding seam’s together just doesn’t work. I really, really miss working so quilting provides me sanity, even with the struggles. My goal is to make shawls to donate for cancer patients and baby quilts for our local hospital. Unfortunately, there are people that don’t have families or support systems to give them that little something special, plus it feels good to give. Again, congrats for the 25 years and beyond. Goodluck to everyone.

1:38 am
I own an ordinary sewing machine on which I quilt most of my quilts.

I have a short-arm machine. It is a KenQuilt 622 short-arm with a 10 ft. table. I wish I had a larger machine but I only quilt for myself, so I don’t really need a larger machine.
10-18-2016
6:35 am
I have owned an Avante HQ for about 10 years. I finish my own quilts. When I first began to quilt I had the quilt professionally quilted for me. When I got it back, it was nice, but it wasn’t “mine”. So when I do my own quilting, I feel as though the quilt is totally mine. I love it.

Happy Anniversary–you have a super product!!
10-18-2016

I wish I owned a longarm. I hope to get one some day…when the budget and space to keep it allows. I quilt on my Brother PQ 1500SL. It gave more throat space than my original machine…but I dream of stepping up to a sit down mid arm (I think that’s what it’s called) and then on to long arm.

9:42 am
I ‘quilt-by-check’ – paying a long arm quilter to do the quilting. I have been tempted to own a long arm, but the cost does not justify owning one. I would not want to quilt other people’s quilts to pay for owning a long arm … not enough time to do my own projects!. And then there is the ‘space’ issue, too.
10-20-2016
9:48 am
I do have a Babylock “Sashiko” machine that makes my machine quilting stitch ‘look-like’ hand quilting. Kind of a picky mechanical machine, but worth the extra effort.
10-20-2016

10-20-2016
10:00 am

10-20-2016
10:16 am
I do not own a long or medium arm machine I do pay a professional to quilt my large quilts. My wife and I both quilt, sometimes teaming up on a specific project, but usually working on our individual projects. On quilts smaller than 60″ X 75″ I do straight line quilting, although When feeling daring I will experimant with other techniques.

I don’t own either a mid or long arm. So far I’ve either used my regular sewing machine to quilt or I’ve quilted by hand. I don’t really have the space for a long arm but have considered getting a sit down mid arm. I’m now thinking of purchasing the new Babylock Jazz.
10-20-2016

I have many UFO’s! Lol Been trying smaller quilts with my sewing machine. But all my big quilts just sit, stacked up with my children wanting to know when there quilts will be finished.
10-20-2016
9:16 pm
Yes I bought a HandiQuilter longarm about 22 1/2 years ago. My DIL uses it more than I do but we’ve quilted over 150 in that time. These are our own quilts, we donate rather than sell and we quilt for the joy of it.

10-21-2016
5:22 pm
So far, I pay someone else to quilt my projects. I do not want to quilt for money. But, I do want to take ALL the credit for my quilts. So, I might be in the market for a quilting machine?!

8:38 am
No, I do not own a long arm or have any one do my quilts. I still like to say “I made this, from start to finish”. Now just because I don’t own a long arm or a table long arm doesn’t mean I don’t want one, because I really, really do, but I just can’t afford one. So I do the best I can with a domestic machine.

10-22-2016
11:19 am
I do not own a longarm machine. I am desperate to get a Simply Sixteen machine as I do not have a lot of room. I currently pay someone else a lot of money to quilt for me, but in all fairness she is a quilt artist and does competition quilting for me so at .65 to .85 per square inch it’s not cheap.
10-22-2016
11:53 am
i dont own one. We lived in a small 2 bedroom home and dont have a space for one. I am mostly a hand quilter so i hire someone to baste my quilts and am in the process of learning how to do free motion,

10-22-2016
3:16 pm
I own an old Handi Quilter frame which I quilt with my Pfaff 7550 but it takes up too much room so I would really like something with a smaller footprint but a bigger harp space.
10-22-2016

First off Happy 25th Birthday EQ 7! I hope you are blessed with 25 plus more years if continued growth!
Yes, I do own a long arm. I own a Statler Stitcher, by Gammill, on a
14′ table, fully lighted light bar, & use it both manual, & fully computerized. I used to pay someone to do my Quilts, until they ruined one with puckers that completely covered the back. . Now I work on my own! Looking forward to a great chance of winning the EQ7 maybe to design my own complete quilt! Thanks so much!!

No, I don’t own a long-arm, but I sure wish I did. Maybe someday… For that very reason, I only make baby quilts or lap-sized quilts, at the largest. I have quilt tops that I thought I’d either quilt myself or send out, but they’re still here. I got EQ7 for my birthday in July from my children. I’ve played around with it and I’ve drawn one quilt in it so far. I’m just cutting the quilt out now and I’m excited to see how closely it resembles what I drew.

No, I don’t own a longarm machine and no, I don’t pay someone to quilt my quilts. I quilt on my home sewing machine, a Janome. Most of my quilts are for Project Linus, no larger than about 40″ x 60″, so easily quiltable on a home machine.

I am not sure what is meant by a mid-arm. I have a Bernina 750QE and am just learning to quilt on it. Before, I used a Hinterberg frame and quilted my quilts by hand. Joint pain is forcing the change … practicing and getting better!
