09-10-2016

I like to do both. Designing my own patterns is just fun. I also get much inspiration from seeing and using designs by others.

9:24 am
If asked this question 6 months ago, I would have answered that I preferred using someone else’s patterns. In the past few months I have worked with EQ7 to design my own quilts, and that is definitely where I am now headed. I am really proud of my recent accomplishment, which is a quilt with 3 sizes of pinwheels, entirely drawn and designed with the EQ7 software.
09-10-2016
9:25 am
I am a beginner at sewing and quilting so I defiantly like using someone else’s pattern, but have design a couple.
09-10-2016
9:25 am
I love designing my own quilts.
09-10-2016
9:26 am
I prefer to design my own quilts then I can really call them ‘my own’. Honestly though, I feel my talents are limited so I get so much inspiration and learn from patterns and pictures of amazingly talented quilters. My last two quilts were my own designs out of necessity as I planned them around particularly fabrics I had in my stash.
09-10-2016
9:26 am
A & B – I like to use patterns but do design my own on EQ and make them. I like that I can see the quilt and play with ideas on EQ before I make it.

I like to design my own quilts.
09-10-2016
9:28 am
B – but I have an increasing interest in art quilts and the use of personal photos. I would love to learn more about adapting pictures. But traditional blocks and paper piecing are used to enhance this type of quilt in the most enchanting ways, so there is so much room for both!
09-10-2016
9:28 am
I really prefer designing my own – after all that’s what EQ7 is for right!
09-10-2016
9:28 am
Like many quilters, I’m a hybrid when it comes to quilt design. I usually design my own project but will look to quilt patterns for ideas. I will use a pattern if it offers something unique or a specific theme or style that I like.
09-10-2016
9:28 am
I like to create my own fabric & patterns. But, I’m inspired by other patterns.
09-10-2016
9:28 am
I’m new to Quilting, kind of self taught, My grandmother taught me how to sew clothes, made all the girls dresses when they were little, but new to Quilting, I watch a lot of
Missouri Quilt and Fat Quarter tutorials. Love to quilt but still learning.
09-10-2016
9:28 am
I like to do both. Most Applique patterns are purchased but pieced I do myself .
09-10-2016
9:28 am
Usually B but I always like to add just one little element/design that is all mine just to make it different:)
09-10-2016

I will often start out with someone else’s pattern, but I like to change parts to make the process more interesting.
09-10-2016
9:30 am
I like to design my own quilts as I use lots of scraps and it is often necessary. Sometimes I use others designs as a guide.
09-10-2016
9:30 am
I always think about designing my own quilts, and have done so with a few small pieces but I usually see something that someone else has designed and fall in love with it….and the designing is already done!
09-10-2016
9:31 am
A. I like to design my own quilts.
09-10-2016
9:31 am
B – only because I don’t feel quite ready to design my own. I’m sure EQ would help.
09-10-2016
9:31 am
Like doing my own thing for design. Look at others for inspiration.
09-10-2016
9:32 am
If I find a pattern that wows me, I’ll follow it. But, I have designed a few of my own and am looking forward to my EQ learning to help me improve my designs.

9:32 am
I like to design my own quilts
09-10-2016

I use patterns and then modify or change them. I own EQ7 and want to learn to design more of my own quilts. I love the Allison Glass fabric.
09-10-2016
9:33 am
I do a combination of both
09-10-2016
9:34 am
It’s a little bit of A, but more B: while I have created some simple quilts on my own, I like to use patterns created by others, they inspire me and I learn so much this way.
09-10-2016
9:34 am
I would like to have more time to design my own quilts, but I haven’t done it yet
09-10-2016
9:34 am

I love patterns and find them very inspiring, but frequently end up modifying or creating my own pattern
09-10-2016
9:34 am
I always design my own patterns. I do get ideas from seeing designs from others.
09-10-2016
9:34 am
I use patterns most of the time but also like to create my own.
09-10-2016
9:35 am
I design my own the majority of the time.
09-10-2016
9:35 am
I’d like to design my own pattern someday, but I am lucky enough to have amazingly talented friends who do design patterns, so I sew theirs!
09-10-2016
9:36 am
B. I like to use a pattern someone else has designed. I love picking a pattern and the fabrics and watching it come together!
09-10-2016
9:36 am
I like to tweak others patterns and use them.
09-10-2016
9:36 am
I prefer to make my own designs – it is a major part of the creative joy for me
09-10-2016
9:36 am
Definitely B. But I would like to learn how to design my own patterns.
09-10-2016
9:37 am
I like to design my own quilts. But I also like adapting other patterns to suit my own taste. My EQ 7 is an essntial tool in coming up with those quilt designs.
09-10-2016
9:37 am
Both A and B. I will use a pattern most of the time. I also will design a quilt when I teach or when, as group, make a quilt for a raffle.
09-10-2016
9:37 am
I like to do both. I enjoy looking at quilt patterns and seeing if I can combine them.
09-10-2016
9:37 am
I like to use a pattern. I have designed some also but it takes longer. Thanks for the opportunity to win the prize!
09-10-2016
9:37 am

09-10-2016
9:37 am
I do not design my own patterns, but would like to! I am lucky enough to have awesome talented friends who do design, so I sew theirs!!!
09-10-2016
9:37 am
Both are fun, designing is very creative and special but patterns are great for learning or applying new techniques.
09-10-2016
9:38 am
I love to design patterns, and often re-size and alter purchased patterns or tutorials in EQ7.
09-10-2016
9:38 am
I use other patterns most of the time.
09-10-2016
9:38 am
Taking the best of both worlds, I love to have a pattern guide me and then add my own flare by making adjustments and incorporating any techniques I’ve learned to make it go faster.
09-10-2016
9:38 am
I’m new to EQ7 but do like to try to make up my own patterns. I also use patterns.
09-10-2016
9:39 am
It depends on why I am making,it. If it is for a specific person, I design it. However, they usually are based on something I’ve seen. If I see someone else’s pattern that hits me just right, I’ll make it. Never a kit. I like to pick my own fabrics. Never a machine to cut pieces.
09-10-2016
9:39 am
I would love to design my own quilts but find myself using patterns someone else has created.
09-10-2016
9:39 am
although I love to design my own quilts, I often don’t have enough time
love EQ7
09-10-2016
9:40 am
I’m just starting to design my own quilts, so I’ve just used other’s patterns.
09-10-2016
9:40 am
I like to use EQ to design and my own quilt patterns. But I also test written patterns for other designers and sometimes I use EQ to help check out their measurements.
09-10-2016
9:40 am
I do both! Sometimes the fabric will speak for itself and I know instantly what design I would like to create. Sometimes I will see an eye catching deign from elsewhere and will be inspired to try it.
09-10-2016
9:40 am
Both. If I see a pattern I like I will buy it and make it. I also have created many patterns using EQ.
09-10-2016
9:40 am
I like to do both. But I would love to really learn how to use EQ7!
09-10-2016
9:41 am
I like to experiment with standard designs. I am a “what it” type person and quilter.
09-10-2016
9:43 am
I use patterns, but I almost always add my own twist. I have designed a few of my own quilts.
09-10-2016
9:43 am
B as I am fairly new to quilting. Would love to be able design my own quilts in the future.
09-10-2016
9:43 am
I like to get ideas from other’s patterns but then I tweak them for my own design.
09-10-2016
9:43 am
I like to design my own using Electric Quilt
09-10-2016
9:44 am
B and then I frequently change them. Does that count?
09-10-2016
9:44 am
B……But on the other hand i can look at a picture and i enjoy trying tofiger out the pattern from the picture…… happyness04431@yahoo.com
09-10-2016
9:44 am
More and more these days I keep thinking that designing my own quilts is what I’d like to do.
09-10-2016
9:45 am
I am A and B…I try to follow patterns, really! But somehow adjustments get made: maybe more detail here, or what if I try this set of shapes here, or resize where the design has to change because of the shape. In trying to be more disciplined, I did follow a pattern last month, exactly. I was happy with the result, but it made me go back to EQ7 to design one of my own.
Plus I make quilts I design with EQ.
09-10-2016
9:45 am
Both? I like using others patterns, but I like to design as well. Put a spin on others patterns.
09-10-2016
9:45 am
My answer is A… I love designing quilts for myself and for others. It’s gratifying to see how many folks are using EQ not just to make virtual quilts but to take the leap of faith and start turning digital quilts into fiber and thread.
It is like jumping off the diving board, it takes a deep breath along with a “can I do this” but the results are so satisfying. Good job to everyone!
09-10-2016
9:46 am
I do both, although I hardly ever use a pattern and I have never done a kit.
09-10-2016
9:46 am
I mostly use a pattern someone else has designed. I feel that I’m not very original, however I do like to change the fabric, or fabric type used.
09-10-2016
9:47 am
A. I like to design my own quilts! However, I also like to follow patterns.
09-10-2016
9:47 am
I like to do both…..design my own and start with another’s pattern. Both fed my creative juices. Colour, design, techniques…..all thngs I can manipulate.
09-10-2016
9:48 am
I like to use a pattern that someone else has designed. Usually my quilts are full to king size. So I have to use big borders because most patterns I find are for twin size. I have 4 sons, 3 daughter in laws, 11 grand children, 7 grandsons in law and 13 great grandbabies. All but the last two have quilts. At 85 I am slowing down on making quilts. I find I want to read more or work on the computer doing genealogy. I need some great ideas to get me back to wanting to make quilts.
09-10-2016
9:49 am
I like to use patterns and put my own touch on them.
09-10-2016
9:49 am
A. I like to design my own.
09-10-2016
9:50 am
As a new quilter I like to use someone else’s pattern/design but as I learn more I have been venturing trying things of my own
09-10-2016
9:50 am
I like using patterns others have designed. Maybe someday I would design one for myself. Love the hunt for new fabric.
09-10-2016

09-10-2016
9:50 am
I like to design my own quilts.
09-10-2016
9:51 am
I like to use patterns others have designed. Maybe someday I will design One of my own. I do enjoy the hunt for new fabric.
09-10-2016
9:51 am
I’m just starting to design my own quilts but I have loved making many quilts designed by others.
09-10-2016
9:52 am
A little of both, but mostly A. I like to take a pattern as my starting point, then using EQ, I like to change it up to make it my own. I let the fabrics I am using guide me. After 18 years of quilting and more than 60 full sized quilts, there isn’t a quilt that I have made without first seeing it drawn in EQ.
09-10-2016
9:53 am
I prefer to design my own quilts, but will on occasion purchase a pattern. I love to select my own fabrics, so I don’t usually purchase kits.
09-10-2016
9:53 am
I prefer to design my own quilts. When I first started quilting I used patterns.
09-10-2016
9:53 am
I definitely prefer to design my own quilts!
09-10-2016
9:53 am
I like to design my own quilts, often adapting them from a pattern I’ve seen.

09-10-2016
9:55 am
A – I love to design my own quilts, I haven’t bought a pattern in years!
09-10-2016
9:57 am
i really do a little of both. Bought EQ a few months ago and haven’t really had time to explore it. (trying to catch up on a “block a day for a year” quilt. I have designed a few simple quilts and am looking forward to when I have time to really design something more intricate.
09-10-2016
9:58 am
I like to design my own patterns. I enjoy the freedom creating my own designs gives me. My patterns are unique and unusual.
09-10-2016
9:58 am
I like to design my own quilts.
09-10-2016
9:58 am
I do both. If I use a published pattern, I make changes that make it my own. I usually challenge myself to use less fabric than asked for, and may arrange the blocks differently. EQ is a great help in making my decisions. I also do a lot of embroidery, so I use EQ to design sashing and settings to show it off.
09-10-2016
9:58 am
I like, like, LOVE to design my own quilts and it goes better with EQ !
09-10-2016
9:58 am
I love to design my own quilts!
09-10-2016
9:59 am
I am wanting to branch out into my own designs but mostly I have made other people’s designs as their are so many great ones out there.
09-10-2016
9:59 am
I use other people’s patterns. Sometimes I do make few changes as I go.
09-10-2016
10:00 am
I often use a pattern designed by someone else but then I will “tweek” it to make it mine! EQ7 is very handy for that!
09-10-2016
10:00 am
B I follow patterns
09-10-2016
10:01 am
I like to do both, use someone’s pattern and design my own. Sometimes combining both in one quilt.
09-10-2016
10:01 am
I like to do both — use others’ patterns and design my own.
09-10-2016
10:01 am
I like to use a pattern someone else has designed. I have tried designing my own, but it’s hard!
09-10-2016
10:01 am
I like to use patterns others have designed. Ive played around a few times but always come back to patterns
09-10-2016
10:02 am
I like to start with a pattern and then make it my own with my own changes.
09-10-2016
10:02 am
A. I like to design my own quilts …
09-10-2016
10:03 am
I like to do both. Sometimes I use the pattern as it is written. Sometimes I use a pattern but alter it to a different size by adding blocks or borders. I also like to design my own quilts based on the fabrics I have in my stash or something that I purchased.
09-10-2016
10:03 am
It depends on the purpose of the quilts I am making. I use other people’s designs when I want to make something quickly, but always add my own twist. I love designing my own, especially art quilts. I free motion quilt ALL my quilts now and this is the part that is the most fun.
09-10-2016
10:03 am
I like to design my own patterns. If I do use a pattern by somebody else I always end up changing it!!
09-10-2016
10:04 am
I usually use patterns designed by others, but also enjoy creating my own. Often, I can finesse my own patterns from pictures of quilts.
09-10-2016
10:04 am
I usually design my own quilts using traditional blocks.
09-10-2016
10:04 am
I like to use a pattern and and do my own designing. Each has elements that appeal on different levels.
09-10-2016
10:04 am
I like to design my own!
09-10-2016
10:05 am
I like to design my own quilts
09-10-2016
10:05 am
I usually design my own quilts. I usually look at the fabrics I want to use and start drawing.I may search through some blocks for ideas.
09-10-2016
10:06 am
I love to design my own quilts.
09-10-2016
10:06 am
I usually design my own but there are lots of cute patterns out there, I try to change at least one thing to make it mine.
09-10-2016
10:06 am
I use patterns designed by others but I have ideas swimming around in my head that I would like to make. I like EQ7 to play with these ideas…now I need to implement them.
09-10-2016
10:06 am
I love to design my own.
09-10-2016
10:07 am
Design my own, but frequently I find inspiration by browsing thru other quilts.
09-10-2016
10:07 am
I like playing a ‘what if’ game … I may have been ‘inspired’ by a pattern, but I like to ‘personalize’ it with some adaptations. I use Electric Quilt to ‘test’ out my ideas/variations before I cut/sew any fabric. Then I can tell at a glance if it is a pleasing change. That’s one of the things I *love* about making quilts …no two are the same! Even if I am just changing the colors/values, a pattern can look very different.
09-10-2016
10:07 am
I like to use a pattern someone else has designed. But I often put that design into EQ7 to see how it looks in different colors, with different borders, etc.
09-10-2016
10:07 am
I almost always design my own. Even if I use a pattern, I still like to make my own changes.
09-10-2016
10:07 am
I love to make my own designs using things I see in nature, in different cultures, & in magazines, as my inspiration.
I use patterns when they have interesting designs that are unusual.
Would love to use the fabric to create something unique!
09-10-2016
10:08 am
A: I like to design my own quilt patterns. However I like to use others as well.
09-10-2016
10:08 am
I like to use both a pattern designed by someone and designs I’ve created myself. A lot of times I take an idea from a pattern I’ve seen, then recreate in EQ and add my own designs to it. I try to add embroidery using EQ Stitch when ever possible.
09-10-2016
10:10 am
A. I like to design my own quilts.
With EQ
09-10-2016

I love designing my own quilts. Even if I buy a quilt kit, I will mofify it in some way in order to express my vision. In that way, each quilt I make is truly unique and personal.

09-10-2016
10:23 am
I wish I could design my own quilts. But it just seems too overwhelming, and there are so many fabulous designers out there. So I go with bought patterns and indulge my creativity by mixing up the fabrics that I use.

09-10-2016
10:35 am
I usually design my own layout, and after attending EQ Academy in Ohio this past spring, I’m using the Custom Set and Horizontal Layout options in EQ much more. Learning Custom Set was great!
09-10-2016
10:35 am
I like to design my own when I have time. When I need a quick quilt for a baby or wedding, I resort to using a pattern, but I may change it up a bit.
09-10-2016
10:35 am
I like to design my own, it’s so personal and original.
09-10-2016

09-10-2016
10:36 am
I’m a bit of both. Sometimes I want to design my own, sometimes I just feel like following someone else’s pattern
09-10-2016
10:37 am
A. I like to design my own quilts but also use ones others have designed
09-10-2016
10:37 am

09-10-2016
10:39 am
I love to design my own quilts, they are sometimes inspired by other quilts that I have seen.
09-10-2016
10:39 am
I seem to get an idea for a quilt, then try to to find a pattern idea. If I use a pattern I normally changed parts of it. I have found some patterns have mistakes. Still trying to use EQ to its full potential. It seems when a see certain fabrics, it leads me to creating a quilt.
09-10-2016
10:39 am
I get more done when I use someone’s else’s pattern but I’m starting to do my own thing also, especially with leftovers. Not talking cooking either!
09-10-2016
10:39 am
I almost always design my own quilts unless I’m doing a BOM or mystery quilt.

09-10-2016
10:40 am
B. with modifications.
09-10-2016
10:40 am
I have one of the EQs I bought 8n years ago and have never learned to us it. the lap top I put it on got fried and I was never able to figure out how to put it on another or even get my pass word back. I would really love to learn about the new EQ7 and maybe be able to win one or buy one and be able to use it.
09-10-2016
10:40 am
I usually start with a patter someone else has designed and go from there. I’m gaining more and more confidence in my quilting, as a result, I’m experimenting with my own designs.

10:41 am
A. I prefer to do it my way!
09-10-2016

I like to do both but am usually adding or changing the bought pattern to make it my own.
09-10-2016
10:45 am
I’ve done both, but probably more of “designed by someone else”.
09-10-2016
10:47 am
Most of my quilts start out with a pattern designed by someone else (or EQ). These quilts will usually end up with a variation in block size, sashing width, and/or border sizes.
09-10-2016
10:47 am
I like to design my own quilts, patterns are like recipes just guidelines.
09-10-2016
10:47 am
I like designing my own quilts and I like to make quilts from others’ designs
09-10-2016
10:48 am
Option B. I like to start with a predesigned pattern and maybe tweek it to my taste.
09-10-2016
10:49 am
I do both. Although if I use a pattern that someone else has designed, I am likely to make some change to it.
09-10-2016
10:50 am
I mainly use patterns made by others but I’m hoping to purchase EQ7 soon and experiment with quilt design.
09-10-2016
10:51 am
I like to do both! Thank you for the chance to 70.71in the wonderful fabrics!
09-10-2016
10:51 am
I like to design my own quilts but enjoy looking at the methods others use when designing blocks and quilts.
09-10-2016
10:51 am
I tend to design my own…like looking at patterns to spark an idea and see what happens.
09-10-2016
10:51 am
B I like to use my own colors
09-10-2016
10:51 am
I use premade patterns, but like to tweak the colors and maybe flip a block or two. Aw I am becomming more confident, I can’t wait to use my EQ7 to create from scratch.
09-10-2016
10:52 am
I love designing my own patterns often using EQ, but I also like to base others on patterns created by other quilters.
09-10-2016
10:53 am
I occasionally buy a pattern, but usually design my own based on ideas and images I have seen, the main fabrics I want to use or the purpose for the quilt.
09-10-2016
10:53 am
I do both; also like to experiment with color combinations using EQ. It helps switching accent color around to see what I like best.
09-10-2016
10:53 am
I love to design my own patterns on EQ7. Sadly due to time constraints I use patterns for the most part.
09-10-2016
10:54 am
A after inspiration from an established pattern.
09-10-2016
10:54 am
I like to design my own quilts.
09-10-2016
10:54 am
I like to start with an idea that I get from looking at all the beautiful quilts I see on the internet and other places, but I usually change at least one thing to make it my “own” design.
09-10-2016
10:55 am
B. No wait…A. I like to do both, but I often put B into EQ and play to find the final outcome!!
09-10-2016
10:55 am
B
09-10-2016
10:56 am
I like to use designer patterns for my quilts.
09-10-2016
10:56 am
I need a place to start. I use a beginning pattern and add my touch.
09-10-2016
10:56 am
I usually start with a pattern, but use it as a “guideline” for fabric requirements, etc. Not often do I wind up making something exactly as it was originally designed, even if I wind up buying a kit.
09-10-2016
10:57 am
I like to do it both ways. I use the patterns for inspiration many times. I have recently designed a memory quilt. Very simple design but I am learning.
09-10-2016
10:58 am
I do both. Sometimes the inspiration just doesn’the come easy and I will pull out a pattern and sew away. I have created my own designs and find it very challenging since I am relatively new at designing.
09-10-2016
10:58 am
I like to design my own quilts but if I’m in a hurry I’ll use a pattern by someone else.
09-10-2016
10:59 am
I like to design my own quilts. That said, I do like patterns, but I tend to think of them as suggestions. So they give me a jumping off place to use in designing my own quilts.
09-10-2016
10:59 am
I like to design my own quilts, but i do look at others’ quilts for inspiration.
09-10-2016
11:00 am
I seldom come up with my own designs but love seeing others and making changes to create mine.
09-10-2016
11:00 am
I like to follow a pattern but almost always make changes, such as making it bigger or adding something different along the way. Very few projects I make are exactly the same as the original design.
09-10-2016
11:00 am
I like to do both. I have patterns that I will do “someday” but I love that I can play in EQ and come up with a design and colors that are mine. The quilts I plan don’t always turn out as planned but they are beautiful nevertheless.
09-10-2016
11:02 am
I like to start with a pattern. Then I make my own changes if it seems right. I have not really tried to design my own quilt. But I have designed my own place mats and table runners.
09-10-2016
11:02 am
I like designing my own quilts. I like knowing that I have made this quilt beginning to end.
09-10-2016
11:02 am
B. I like a commercial pattern or book and fabric\color use to ‘help’ me get kick-started in creating MY own quilt!
09-10-2016
11:02 am
I like to follow others designs most of the time.
09-10-2016
11:02 am
A. I always design my own quilts. It’s more fun, especially with Eq.
09-10-2016
11:02 am
I use quilt patters but now I have EQ7 and will try my hand at some of my own designs. Taking a free-motion quilting class and having lots of fun.
09-10-2016
11:05 am
A – most of the time I like to create quilts from my own designs.
09-10-2016
11:05 am
B. But always change the fabrics to make it more personal.
09-10-2016
11:05 am
I like to look at patterns and pictures of quilts in magazines for inspiration, but I love to design my own.
09-10-2016
11:05 am
I like to use a pattern someone else has designed, but modify it as I see fit. I often use EQ7 to model quilt colors and designs.
09-10-2016
11:06 am
I love to look at many quilts and sometimes collect pictures, based on either their design or color choices. When it come time to make the quilts, I usually substitute some of my ideas. I add different borders, or place the patches en point, or put borders around individual blocks. But I usually start with a pattern that I’ve purchased at my LQS or taken from a quilt magazine or book.
09-10-2016
11:06 am
I use both ways of quilting. Most of the time I use a pattern and then make changes to make it my own. I have designed some quilts using EQ7, they have been used for charity quilts and for my church group to use. I love to quilt and have used it to help with rehab from a heart surgery and a year later rehab from a stroke. My sewing room means the world to me.
09-10-2016
11:07 am
I usually start with a pattern or idea I’ve seen somewhere. I then like to create a line drawing in EQ so I can play with colors before I start sewing.
09-10-2016
11:07 am
I love doing both…..it is so easy to use EQ…..and souch fun to play with.
09-10-2016
11:07 am
often i design my own patterns, but my brain is full of all the quilts I see on Websites and pinterest, so who can say how original the thoughts that pop out of my head are? I run lots of ideas through EQ7 to see how it looks all together.
09-10-2016
11:08 am
I rarely use a pattern. Most of my art quilts are of my own creation, based on a photo I’ve seen or taken or an idea that bubbles up. But occasionally, I see a pattern I really want to try and I do it. Always in my own colors, of course.
09-10-2016
11:08 am
I usually start with someone else’s idea then tweak it to fit my style or the style of whomever I am making it for.
09-10-2016
11:08 am
I use someone elses pattern most of the time but usually modify it somehow. Often us EQ to change border or other parts
09-10-2016
11:08 am
I design a lot of my quilts myself. I have used EQ7 for 4 or 5 small challenge quilts. But I do use purchased patterns as well.
So I guess I am a little bit of both.
09-10-2016
11:08 am
I like recreate patterns on EQ to double check the pattern information. It makes it so much easier for me to sew once I have done this. I also like to create my own ideas or try my choices of color and fabrics.
09-10-2016
11:08 am
I use patterns. Once in a while I had my own touch, I would love to make my own patterns. I have ideas but haven’t had the opportunity to try them.
09-10-2016
11:10 am
I use patterns. Once in a while I add my own touch, I would love to make my own patterns. I have ideas but haven’t had the opportunity to try them.
Had should be add
09-10-2016
11:10 am
I do both – but when I use a pattern, I almost always change something.
09-10-2016
11:10 am
I like designing my own quilts, but have sewn many quilts from patterns.
09-10-2016
11:11 am
I actually like doing both. And I use EQ for designing and changing patterns. Makes life much more interesting!!!
09-10-2016
11:11 am
I’ve never been brave enough to design my own so I guess #2
09-10-2016
11:12 am
I like to use a pattern someone else has designed BUT by the time I start grabbing my fabrics and moving things around, it rarely looks like the pattern it started out to be. And I’ve had to design extras for borders and sashings to make things come out the way that I want them to look in the end!!
09-10-2016
11:13 am
I do both. Often I use traditional blocks, but like using EQ7 to play with fabric/value placement to get different effects. I have also just started on the journey to completely original designs. I hope to do more of those in the future!
09-10-2016
11:13 am
I like to design my own. I also love testing other designer’s patterns.
09-10-2016
11:13 am
I like to look at my fabric choices first and then decide if I’m going to use someone elses design or play around with blocks on my own. Another determining factor is how fast does the quilt need to be made.
09-10-2016
11:14 am
I like using patterns from others and adding my own touches and colors of fabrics. Or I will take a pictures and create patterns
09-10-2016
11:14 am
I do both. If I design my own, then typically I will use EQ to do the designing as well as determining the amount of fabric I need.
09-10-2016
11:14 am
B – I definitely need patterns!
09-10-2016
11:14 am
I like to begin with a pattern and then add my own little touches.
09-10-2016
11:15 am
A. I like to design my own quilts. I use Electric Quilt and audition fabrics in my designs.
09-10-2016
11:15 am
A little of both.
09-10-2016
11:16 am
I start with a prepared pattern, but there is usually a design change somewhere in the process.
09-10-2016
11:16 am
I mostly design my own quilts. I start with an idea and then use EQ to help with layout, color and size.
09-10-2016
11:17 am
I am a mixture of both A & B , I usually start with a pattern, but often tweak it a little to make it my own!!
09-10-2016
11:17 am
I like using patterns but more often now I will create my own
09-10-2016
11:18 am

09-10-2016
11:19 am
A, absolutely A!
09-10-2016
11:20 am
B. I love to look for unique patterns to try out whether it is a table runner or a purse.
09-10-2016
11:20 am
A – I like to design my own quilts.
09-10-2016
11:21 am
I like to look at quilt patterns in quilting mags to get ideas and then go to EQ to add my own touches.
09-10-2016
11:22 am
I’m a mixture of both A and B…I tend to start with a pattern and then end up turning into a whole other thing! Each quilt takes on a life of its own.
09-10-2016
11:23 am
I like to use a pattern and adjust it sometimes for my likes.
09-10-2016
11:23 am
I like a pattern. Mixing up different blocks is also what I like.
09-10-2016
11:23 am
I like to follow a pattern. Once in a while I will add something extra.
09-10-2016
11:23 am
A. I like to design my own quilts.
09-10-2016
11:24 am
A
09-10-2016
11:24 am
I’ve just started learning EQ. Because of that, I have not made one of my own designs yet. So for the moment it is all pre-designed patterns. But that will change. Of that I have no doubt.
09-10-2016
11:24 am
A mix, I love doing original designs but I do make a lot of samples. It is great when I bring something in and the reaction is: “I like it better than the one in the books!”
09-10-2016
11:25 am
I usually start with an image of a quilt then change/modify/redesign until it is something I like. I use EQ to try out design ideas
09-10-2016
11:25 am
I love to design my own quilts, however time is often a problem. So I frequently use a pattern and put my own feel to it with fabric and embellishment.
09-10-2016
11:26 am
I usually use a pattern that someone else has designed.
09-10-2016
11:26 am
I really like designing my own quilts, but like to follow someone else’s “formula” to learn new techniques or methods, which ultimately, improve my own quilting.
I love buying kits with patterns, because it saves me LOTS of time in choosing fabrics.
09-10-2016
11:26 am
I too am a combination of A and B. Sometimes I follow a pattern precisely. Sometimes I will create something completely unique and sometimes I tweak a pattern to make it my own.

11:27 am
I like to do both! I get inspiration from photograph and patterns to design my own. When working from a pattern, I will adjust it to my liking!
09-10-2016
11:28 am
B. I usually like to follow a pattern but I have been changing some patterns on tote bags.
09-10-2016
11:28 am
I make some quilts which I have designed all or part ..generally like to do very different colour combinations if someone else’s pattern.
09-10-2016
11:28 am
I do both. I usually find a pattern I like and then add my own spin to it, sometimes I design my own patterns.
09-10-2016
11:28 am
I like using patterns to start a project then tweak it to my if in my own vision.
09-10-2016
11:29 am
Using someone elses pattern is an honor. I am building someone’s beautiful imagination and dream. I hope one day I can do the same and share my ideas with others but for now I am using patterns designed by others. Thank you to those that put it all out there.
09-10-2016
11:29 am
I definitely prefer to design my own patterns and
EQ makes it fun.
09-10-2016
11:29 am
Mostly, I get inspiration from others’ quilts, then redesign to make them my own.
09-10-2016
11:29 am
Both! I like to start with a pattern and then make changes.
09-10-2016
11:30 am
Now that I have EQ7, designing my own or creating my own from ideas I get from seeing other quilts, images, fabric, etc.
09-10-2016
11:30 am
I like to do a combination of both A and B. Sometimes a pattern is just what I want and sometimes I like to make a few modifications to make it my own and sometimes I like to design a pattern from the beginning!
09-10-2016
11:31 am
I like to use patterns designed by others. Occasionally I’ll change them to suit my needs.
09-10-2016
11:31 am
I usually start with a pattern but often change parts to make it mine.
09-10-2016
11:32 am
I like to change up a pattern I see to make it my own. I also like designing my own.
09-10-2016
11:32 am
I like using a pattern to start a project then tweak it to make it in my own vision.
09-10-2016
11:32 am
I am C. Start with someoneelses pattern, use my choice of fabrics and then maybe change a few elements to get something that just a bit different.

11:32 am
I like to use pattern that someone has already made up. I also like simple patterns that look fresh and bright.
09-10-2016
11:32 am
I like to design my own. But there are times when I like the simplicity of following someone else’s design.
09-10-2016
11:34 am
I am a bit of both. Sometimes the pattern inspires me to use the fabrics I have and sometimes the fabrics inspire a quilt.
09-10-2016
11:34 am
I am a new quilter, it has been two and a half years now. B: I do make quilts, etc by someone’s pattern. A: I am beginning to design my own quilts or adding a different twist to the patterns I buy!
09-10-2016
11:34 am
I like to use a pattern someone else designed, but also to change it a little to make it my own
09-10-2016
11:35 am
A for the most part. I like to find inspiration from others but I have loads of ideas in my head that I am working on creating.
09-10-2016
11:35 am
Great question I thought I was B but I guess I’m both I start out following the rules/pattern but then A creeps in and I finish it my way
09-10-2016
11:35 am
I like both A and B. There is nothing more satisfying than to make a quilt using eq7,knowing that the quilt will be as beautiful as the design that you have designed.
09-10-2016
11:35 am
A. I like to design my own
09-10-2016
11:36 am
I design my own quilts for the grandkids. But I use patterns for my own quilts usually changing something in the pattern.
09-10-2016
11:36 am
I prefer to use existing patterns–and spend all my time in the piecing process! Carolyn
09-10-2016
11:37 am
For the most part, I enjoy designing my own quilts. Once in a while I come across a fabulous pattern that I will make (but often altering some aspect of the design as I go)
09-10-2016
11:37 am
I use other patterns for inspiration, but usually design my own quilts
09-10-2016
11:38 am
I love to design my own patterns.
09-10-2016
11:38 am
I like to design my own quilts. Although I am new to quilting (and even sewing!) from the very first quilt I made I derived much pleasure from the entire process, from planning through execution. Since I started using EQ7 I am getting bolder with my fabric choices, in terms of mixing and blending colors and patterns.
09-10-2016
11:39 am
A. (Definitely) – I like to design my own quilts.
09-10-2016
11:39 am
As a beginner I use the patterns provided by someone else, but hope to get beyond this.
09-10-2016
11:40 am
I love to create my own designs when time allows but taking patterns and “tweaking” it to make it a little more personal works great and give me taphat personal satisfaction.
09-10-2016
11:40 am
I normally use a pattern but would like to start designing my own.
09-10-2016
11:43 am
I like to design my own patterns, however, if someone else has designed a pattern I really like I’ll gladly sew that one up too.
09-10-2016
11:44 am
I like to design, piece and quilt my own quilts. Love the whole process.
09-10-2016
11:45 am
I like to use some else pattern. I love sewing but am not good at designing my own patterns.
09-10-2016
11:45 am
I enjoy designing my own quilts and love working with EQ to do so. I find a great satisfaction in the entire quilting process.
09-10-2016
11:46 am
I like to use a pattern from someone else. I don’t have enough confidence to make my own design.
09-10-2016
11:46 am
I would prefer to create my own but here are so many lovely patterns out there that it just depends on the amount of time I have.
09-10-2016
11:47 am
I am definitely both A & B. I love to find a pattern and modify it to make it my own. I also love to start from scratch. Sometimes a pattern I see just speaks to me and I make it the same as designed. EQ is great for expressing my creativity. I love Allison Glass and hope I win!
09-10-2016
11:47 am
I enjoy designing my own quilts and EQ is such a great tool to use. Thank you!
09-10-2016
11:50 am
I use both A and B. Both have a place in my designing of a quilt. There is nothing more satisfying than to make a beautiful quilt and with EQ7 knowing that it will go together perfectly.
09-10-2016
11:51 am
B. I usually like to buy a pattern to make my quilts. However, one of these days I hope to design my own quilt. I have a design in mind but haven’t figured out how to start! I have been learning EQ Stitch to give me some help.
09-10-2016
11:52 am
I’ve just begun to design my own quilts, thanks to EQ7.
09-10-2016
11:52 am
I like to use professionally designed patterns, but tweak them to suit my vision.
09-10-2016
11:54 am
B. For the most part. I do ‘go crazy’ occasionally and design my own quilts.
09-10-2016
11:55 am
I’m a mix of making my own designs and varying from a pattern. I often have to let the fabric tell me how it wants to be used.
09-10-2016
11:55 am
Both. I am new to quilting and have only been making blocks for less than 2 years. Loving it so much I want to try it all
09-10-2016
11:57 am
I like to use someone else’s pattern and put my own spin on it.
09-10-2016
11:57 am
I almost always use a pattern. I always seem to like how the fabrics are used from they fabric line they have.
09-10-2016
11:58 am
I do both. The more intense quilts I design.
09-10-2016
11:59 am
I’m a mix of both. Patterns when they are perfect, adjustments when needed, and designing my own when inspiration hits.
09-10-2016
12:00 pm
I like to start with a pattern.
09-10-2016
12:02 pm
I like to use a pattern that I have bought and follow it.
09-10-2016
12:02 pm
At the moment I am a B who adds a peronal touch. But i would love to design myself too.
09-10-2016
12:04 pm
I like to do my own designs and when using someone else’s design I usually change it to please myself.
09-10-2016
12:05 pm
I like to design my own quilts. I make mostly embroidered quilts with patchwork accents.
09-10-2016
12:05 pm
Something in between both. It depends on the quilt.
09-10-2016
12:06 pm
uups, it seems that my first comment went through, so this is a duplicate. Sorry!
09-10-2016
12:06 pm
I like to design my own patterns
09-10-2016
12:08 pm
I like to design my own quilts!
09-10-2016
12:10 pm
I am a combination of both a and b. I love to make my own patterns but at other times I follow a pattern to the t.
09-10-2016
12:10 pm
A combination of A and B. Mostly A. But it is fun to change them out a bit.
09-10-2016
12:10 pm
B. I love jumping into designs that are already tried and true.
09-10-2016
12:10 pm
I like to design my own quilts or, at least, significantly modify an existing pattern.
09-10-2016
12:10 pm
A & B…..
Love EQ to design the quilt with my own fabrics!
09-10-2016
12:11 pm
I like to design my own but do use other patterns
09-10-2016
12:11 pm
Love the fabrication
09-10-2016
12:12 pm
I would say A. I have a very hard time following directions!
09-10-2016
12:12 pm
EQ enables me to say A, I started in B changing block & quilt sizes, was glad EQ has allowed me to move in the direction of A.
09-10-2016
12:13 pm
I’m running 50/50 or the A/B scale. Love to use innovative patterns as well
as trying my own ideas.
09-10-2016
12:13 pm
Definitely a mix of A & B. I might start with a pattern but end up with my twist on it.
09-10-2016
12:13 pm
I would say A. I have a very hard time following directions!
09-10-2016
12:14 pm
A I like to design my own quilts I get inspiration from EQ and quilt stores and magazines
09-10-2016
12:15 pm
I usually start with a pattern and then make changes in EQ7 to make it unique.
09-10-2016
12:15 pm
I like to do both A and B. I love the inspiration that I find in quilting magazines, Pinterest and elsewhere, but I also like to design my own patterns with the help of my EQ
09-10-2016
12:16 pm
B. I usually use patterns I’ve already seen but now and then I will design my own.
09-10-2016
12:17 pm
A. I like to design my own quilts – and what could be better than EQ to design with and Andover fabric to make the design
09-10-2016
12:17 pm
Both A & B
09-10-2016
12:19 pm
I am mostly B. I also us EQ to try different colors and fabric
09-10-2016
12:19 pm
A… I like designs from others but they are usually smaller than the quilts I need.
09-10-2016
12:20 pm
I like to ‘think’ that I design my own quilts. I use EQ7 a lot to audition ideas with different block and fabric combinations before I cut cutting into my stash. One of the best things is that you can scan your own fabric into the EQ7 program, then you can have fun with your actual material.
09-10-2016
12:22 pm
Both – I love to design my own quilts but often make designs by others because I like them, too!
09-10-2016
12:23 pm
I like to use a pattern as a starting point, but then I add my own unique elements.
09-10-2016
12:24 pm
I like to start with someone else’s pattern and make changes to it to make it mine.
09-10-2016
12:24 pm
I create my own designs, sometimes with a well-known pattern as the starting point, sometimes totally my own creation
09-10-2016
12:25 pm
I like to use a pattern designed by someone else, all the work is done for you, but I also like to design my own.
09-10-2016
12:25 pm
I’m a little of both a & b. I am really enjoying EQ7 – I can make a design my own – the best of both worlds!
09-10-2016
12:26 pm
B I’m not a skilled enough quilter to make up my own yet
09-10-2016
12:27 pm
I mostly like to use patterns that other people have designed. However, I am in the process of learning EQ, so I hope that my design capabilities will increase once I get a little farther along in the learning process. It’s a great program so far!
09-10-2016
12:28 pm
I usually am a B since I use a pattern but change to make it my own.
09-10-2016
12:28 pm
A.
after getting motivation from others
09-10-2016
12:28 pm
B. I like to use a pattern someone else has designed Being basically a beginner I rely an others to guide me but use my own color ideas and sometimes change a layout but need that pattern, and the often the instructions on how to put a block to guide me.
09-10-2016
12:29 pm
Although I like to use patterns that someone else has designed, I like to design my own.
09-10-2016
12:29 pm
I like to start with a pattern but usually can’t leave well enough alone and end up tweaking it.
09-10-2016
12:29 pm
A – I love having the opportunity to design my own
09-10-2016
12:30 pm
I do both but most of the time it’s b.
09-10-2016
12:32 pm
I’m “A” all the way! However, I’ve been doing it with paper and pencil for 30 years. It’s time to win an EQ7!
09-10-2016
12:32 pm
I like to design my own.
09-10-2016
12:34 pm
I mostly like to design my own quilts. I frequently “borrow” ideas from others and modify them to my liking. That’s what I like most about EQ7.
09-10-2016
12:34 pm
I do both, but have been mostly B. I need to play with my EQ7 more.
09-10-2016
12:35 pm
Too new to making quilts to design my our…so use patterns for now. My Daughter is more creative & has made up her own. lol
Thank you for chance to win!
09-10-2016
12:35 pm
i enjoy working from a pattern leaving myself the opportunity to explore changes if the opportunity presents itself. There are so many very creative quilters out there that their patterns and ideas are wonderful resources to help me become a better quilter. Thanks for another great give-a-way!
09-10-2016
12:36 pm
A, design my own. Started with blocks, then quilts through the Modern Quikt Guild. Just got EQ 7 to advanced from the graph paper.
09-10-2016
12:36 pm
I love designing my own quilts so mostly A. Equally will try out what others have done. Thank you.
09-10-2016
12:36 pm
I am (B) definitely a pattern girl. I am alwaying tweaking the patterns a lot to create something new and a little different.
09-10-2016
12:36 pm
I like to create my own designs. I have never liked to follow someone else’s patterns & always have to “tweak” the design to make it my own.
09-10-2016
12:36 pm
I love designing my quilts . But sometimes I start a pattern usually can’t leave it alone and end up tweaking it.
09-10-2016
12:37 pm
So far I’ve only used someones patterns but would love to try my hand at designing my own. Thanks, would love to win this beautiful fabric collection. grinnie1961 at gmail dot com
09-10-2016
12:38 pm
I like to follow a pattern someone else created.
09-10-2016
12:38 pm
I love designing my own quilts so mostly A. I also enjoy trying out what others have done. Thank you
09-10-2016
12:38 pm
I am mostly B. I like finding different color combinations and especially enjoy putting pieces together as if in a puzzle.
09-10-2016
12:39 pm
I guess I am a B
but I may resize things and I always recolor and there are some substitution of alternate blocks–So when is it my design? I use the pictures I take at quilt shows as an exercise in design with EQ7-I have learned lots from shows.
09-10-2016
12:40 pm
I usually use a pattern but I also do my own pieces, especially for quilted wall hangings. I love to add some machine embroidery to things. I enjoy using the Anita Good Designs for quilts that include embroidery and appliqué. I make a lot of seasonal pieces.
09-10-2016
12:40 pm
Mostly B
09-10-2016
12:41 pm
I like to design my own quilts, and I also like to use patterns and change them to personalize
09-10-2016
12:42 pm
I like to adapt several patterns into my own design. It is more creative.
09-10-2016
12:42 pm
I like to do BOTH. I love to design patterns and put my dream ideas down on paper. I use EQ7 to get those scribbles into a useable pattern. And I admire the work of others and like to support them by getting their patterns and sewing up a beautiful project!
09-10-2016
12:42 pm
I usually follow a pattern that someone else has created.
09-10-2016
12:43 pm
I like to start with a pattern and make it my own with my own style
09-10-2016
12:44 pm
i like to design my own, but find I use others as inspiration all the time. They end up a variation of a pattern over my own creation.
09-10-2016
12:46 pm
I do both…..I use a pattern I see as a jumping off point and end up with something that is more me.
09-10-2016
12:46 pm
I like to see my creative urges take shape.
09-10-2016
12:48 pm
I like to design my own quilts, and have been doing so with the help of EQ for years. With 4 books under my belt, I feel like I’m being lazy and not trying hard enough if I use someone else’s pattern. (I do, though, sometimes.)
09-10-2016
12:53 pm
I do both…..but even if I use a pattern, I change it to be my own.
09-10-2016
12:54 pm
I will purchase complex paper pieced patterns, but then will use EQ to help me select colors.
I also design my own quilts.
09-10-2016
12:55 pm
Most of the time A all the way:) I do like to do BOMs and patterns if I really love the designer’s work. Thanks for the giveaway!
09-10-2016
12:58 pm
I like to design my own quilts on EQ7. Many times when using someone else’s pattern there is at least one cutting, fabric quantity or instruction error. It was sooo frustrating. Now with EQ7 I have the correct information and can progress with confidence.
09-10-2016
12:59 pm
A usually but once in a while I see a pattern I really like and will do that.
09-10-2016
12:59 pm
Mostly A. I love being able to scan fabric from my stash and see it in EQ or find an equivalent in the extensive fabric libraries. It makes the design process more satisfying when you can see if what is in your head looks as good on the screen. If it doesn’t, you can alter your choices before you make a single cut. Or know what you’re searching for if your stash is, ahem, inadequate.
09-10-2016
1:01 pm
I guess I do both. I like to design my own quilts but sometimes it is hard and so it is lovely to use someone elses pattern to rest my brain. I must admit that even if I use a pattern I often change the size or arrange in a different way. Its nice to use EQ7 to do this and play with the colour.
09-10-2016
1:02 pm
I usually design my own, using paper n pencil to start with idea, then using EQ.
09-10-2016
1:03 pm
definitely A..with the help of EQ
09-10-2016
1:03 pm
I’m learning to make my own!
09-10-2016
1:04 pm
I am definitely a B that is why I am interested in getting EQ.
09-10-2016
1:04 pm
I always use a pattern. I know, not very adventurous.
09-10-2016
1:04 pm
I am a B person, but sometimes I add my own adaptations.
09-10-2016
1:04 pm
I like to design quilts. The alternative is to change a pattern to make it my own.
09-10-2016
1:05 pm
I Generally use patterns that someone else designs but add my own unique touches.
09-10-2016
1:06 pm
A. I like to design my own quilts, although I do get inspiration from other’s designs.
09-10-2016
1:07 pm
I design nearly all my own quilts. EQ is invaluable in figuring out the measurements as well as trying out different colour schemes, and how much fabric is required. When I design applique or foundation pieced, I can print off the pattern. No drawing skills required. EQ is as important to me as my sewing machine.
09-10-2016
1:09 pm
I like to design my own quilts, and occasionally use another’s design for inspiration.
09-10-2016
1:11 pm
I actually do both – use other peoples designs, as well as design my own quilts. Or sometimes I just want to tweak an existing pattern – change or modify the block design, play with color, etc. with EQ.
09-10-2016
1:12 pm
i usually use patterns as a starting place, then use eq to tweak ut
09-10-2016
1:12 pm
B I love to do the sewing and picking of fabrics. There are so many patterns that I would love to do already so I do not need to try and design any more.
09-10-2016
1:13 pm
I do both. Often I use ideas from one or more patterns to combine into a new design.
09-10-2016
1:14 pm
I’m mostly “A” as I either design my own quilts, or modify patterns from other designers
09-10-2016
1:14 pm
A. Most of the time I create my own quilt designs/patterns with EQ. When I teach classes, the patterns are my own created with EQ. The really fun part is auditioning different colors and fabrics and showing students how subtle changes in value can totally change the look of a pattern. I like to give them the freedom to explore and not be tied to something specific.
09-10-2016
1:15 pm
I like to design my own. I find an original design more satisfying.
09-10-2016
1:15 pm
I PICK A PATTERN AND MAKE IT BIGGER. ARTHRITIS IS MAKING ME DO SO….
09-10-2016
1:15 pm
Mostly B. I want to work on designing my own when I finally have time.
09-10-2016
1:17 pm
I’ve made or adapted other’s designs in the past but now enjoy doing “my own thing.” Studying and then working with many quilter’s styles has really helped me fine tune my own ideas. EQ makes it very easy to try different options before I make the real one!
09-10-2016
1:18 pm
A. I am inspired by the patterns of other designers, but I love designing my own.
09-10-2016
1:19 pm
I am trying both A and B. I just received my software this past week and I am loving learning how to use it. I am trying to use patterns already made and I am trying to create my own. I look forward to the many years of enjoyment I will get from this software. I also look forward to adding all the add-on’s as I go.
09-10-2016
1:20 pm
A. I like to create my own designs. I use EQ7 for many of them.
09-10-2016
1:22 pm
Both – I design and I also support other designers by buying and using their patterns.
09-10-2016
1:22 pm
I have only made quilts using other people’s patterns but I want to preview different fabrics before purchasing them. Only recently started to watch the EQ7videos.
09-10-2016
1:23 pm
I think I’m A and B! I love designing my own quilts, but sometimes there’s a pattern that I just have to make
Thanks for the chance to win.
09-10-2016
1:25 pm
I enjoy using patterns others have designed but I frequently change the size or colors.
09-10-2016
1:26 pm
I pick C…a little of both
09-10-2016
1:27 pm
I am both a and b. I just love to quilt.
09-10-2016
1:27 pm
I am more of a “B” quilter.
09-10-2016
1:28 pm
I do both..design and use patterns. Great fun
09-10-2016
1:30 pm
Mostly, I like to use others’ patterns.
09-10-2016
1:33 pm
generally B, but I do attempt A occasionally!
09-10-2016
1:33 pm
I like to design my own quilts. In the last couple of years I have gotten into landscape quilting and thread painting, so I use photos that I take for inspiration; however, that being said, I still use patterns that others have created for more traditional quilts.
09-10-2016
1:33 pm
I liked doing both, although most are my own designs, I have done a few using other designers designs, with my twist to it. Since I prefer doing my own designs, EQ7 has been extremely helpful!!!
09-10-2016
1:34 pm
A-I like to design my own quilts. I need to learn more in EQ as I’m new at it.
09-10-2016
1:37 pm
Doesn’t matter if mine or someone elses. I love doing new patterns and trying color combinations! Compass, stars & lots of points I love trying!
09-10-2016
1:37 pm
I am a newbee to free motion quilting and I am enjoying everything about it.
09-10-2016

I like to design my own quilts
09-10-2016
1:39 pm
I like to design my own quilts.
09-10-2016
1:40 pm
I often design my own quilts. I will sometimes take a quilt pattern and change it to meet my needs.
09-10-2016
1:41 pm
I am type B, I like to use a pattern someone else has designed..
09-10-2016
1:41 pm
Mostly A but find other designers that I love. Still working on the EQ learning curve.
09-10-2016
1:47 pm
I Love designing my own quilts. But do use some patterns too, like in my Etsy quilt with the ribbon box pattern Etsy@OutoftheSewingBox. However it also has some of my own design. Mostly love doing scrap style quilts because I have so many scraps. Wouldn’t new material be awesome. Wow!
09-10-2016
1:47 pm
I love doing both. I am starting to get into designing my own now and find it very fulfilling.
09-10-2016
1:47 pm
I do both. Sometimes I have the urge to create something that is truly mine, and other times I want to enjoy someone else’s fabulous design!
09-10-2016
1:49 pm
I love designing my own quilts. Like the rainbow quilt I just sold on Etsy. So fun to think it up and then put it together – and don’t you love it when it turns out even better than you imagined??? Awesome! Love scrap quilts too. Using all those bits and pieces to create something beautiful!
09-10-2016
1:49 pm
I try to design my own but often use another designer also, really like all Andover fabric! thanks for the chance to win!
09-10-2016
1:52 pm
B. I like to use patterns, and maybe change the up a bit.
09-10-2016
1:54 pm
I usually use other’s patterns and then add a few personal touches. I have just recently purchased EQ and am looking forward to learning how to design my own quilts.
09-10-2016
1:55 pm
Designing is half the fun,but finding fabric for the design is more fu.
09-10-2016
1:55 pm
B LATELY, THATS HOW IVE BEEN USING EQ7
09-10-2016
1:55 pm
To date I have only made quilts that others have designed. I am still learning how to design my own thanks to Eq7! I have designed quite a few quilts but have not actually made them YET! Lol that will be changing very soon.
09-10-2016
1:56 pm
B I like to use patterns but I have made blocks using the EQ programs (5,6 & 7) love them. Thank you
09-10-2016
1:56 pm
I actually enjoy both A and B. I do design some of my quilts, but also use designer patterns, although I often adapt them using EQ7, for size or because I have a different assortment of fabrics.
09-10-2016
1:57 pm
I’m a beginner so like to use other people’s patterns. I hope to get better and start designing my own once I have some confidence in my skills. In the meantime I try to personalize my quilts by my fabric choices.
09-10-2016
1:57 pm
I design my own quilts with a center block appliqued from pictures of familiar places and surround it with blocks that describe the center subject.
09-10-2016
1:59 pm
I am a B – I like to start with a pattern and change up to make it my own. I do a lot of designing my own for charity work, but prefer more complex quilts for myself.
09-10-2016
2:01 pm
I like to design my own but when I do use designer patterns I put my own spin on them.
09-10-2016
2:02 pm
Both! Sometimes it’s fun to design your own and other times it is good to use a pattern, just depends on what I’m trying to make!
09-10-2016
2:03 pm
I often start with a pattern for inspiration but alter it to. Make t exactly what I want. Thanks for the giveaway!
09-10-2016
2:03 pm
I usually design my own quilts, but I’m inspired by others I see online. And occasionally, I buy a pattern or pattern book, but that doesn’t mean I follow it exactly…..
09-10-2016
2:03 pm
I love to work out original square on EQ7.
09-10-2016
2:04 pm
So far I have only used patterns designed by others as I am just now learning how to use EQ7. I do change things up a bit as in layout, borders, and I usually pick out my own fabrics and color pathways to use.
09-10-2016
2:04 pm
I’m a little of A and B. Enjoy making a quilt that I’ve seen and know I like but also enjoy the challenge of designing something and the satisfaction of knowing it’s my own personal design.
09-10-2016
2:05 pm
A. Generally prefer to design my own….but there are times when I just fall in love with a pattern and must make it! Regardless of which I do, I always need MORE fabric….and Andover is a go to for great choices!
09-10-2016
2:05 pm
I enjoy designing in EQ. Sometimes I even make those. I usually work from a pattern.
09-10-2016
2:06 pm
I like to design my own
09-10-2016
2:06 pm
B. But I use my own fabric choices.
09-10-2016
2:08 pm
A, like to design my own, if I don’t feel creative I buy a pattern to get it done fsat
09-10-2016
2:09 pm
I “steal” ideas from others but usually change something to suit my taste.
09-10-2016
2:09 pm
I’ve done both, but it is fun to design my own.
09-10-2016
2:09 pm
I like to design my own quilts.
09-10-2016
2:13 pm
Mostly use others patterns but have been in a challenge group to interpret words…it’s been fun designing. Thanks for the opportunity to win
09-10-2016
2:13 pm
I like to use patterns by others and tweak the patterns to look different.
09-10-2016
2:14 pm
I would like to design quilts but I currently use patterns.
09-10-2016
2:15 pm
I like to design my own quilts. My inspiration usually begins with a fabric and then the design process begins.
09-10-2016
2:16 pm
B-I usually use published quilt patterns, but I have on occasion designed my own.
09-10-2016
2:18 pm
Probably more of B, but I want to do more of A.
09-10-2016
2:19 pm
I do both design my own patterns and use other people’s. I also like to take a pattern and tweak it to be my own.
09-10-2016
2:20 pm
I like to design my own, but usually end up being wowed (and inspired) by other’s patterns!
09-10-2016
2:22 pm
My answer is both. I like to take someone else’s patterns and alter them to become mine.
09-10-2016
2:25 pm
I typically like to use a pattern someone else has designed, but I’m trying to get out of my comfort zone and design some on my own.
09-10-2016
2:30 pm
I like to design my own quilts but have done some stunning ones using other designers patterns. I am currently working on a self-designed family tree wall-hanging quilt for each of my 4 kids!
09-10-2016
2:30 pm
I do both A and B. It depends on my mood!
09-10-2016
2:32 pm
I have done both. Designing my own with EQ is a lot of fun, but I’ve also used patterns from books for “quick and dirty” inspiration.
09-10-2016
2:34 pm
I design my own quilts but sometimes use ideas from quilts I see.
09-10-2016
2:35 pm
I am a little bit of both A and B. I like to use a pattern that someone else has made, but I also often design my own quilts.
09-10-2016
2:37 pm
I am a B – I like to start with a pattern and change up to make it my own.
09-10-2016
2:37 pm
I like to design my own quilts usually working from the block out.
09-10-2016
2:37 pm
Both. I follow some patterns to the letter and adapt others. Patterns are only a suggestion. Starting from scratch and creating an original design is fun too.
09-10-2016
2:38 pm
I like yo design my own quilts.
09-10-2016
2:40 pm
I usually begin with someone else’s pattern or design, but then add my own changes — borders, setting, sashing, etc. and certainly fabric choices. EQ7 is a great help in this.
09-10-2016
2:40 pm
I design my own quilts, and I love doing this in EQ7!!
09-10-2016
2:41 pm
I like both….I do better with a designed pattern, though!
Thank you!
I have the handcrafted set now!!!
09-10-2016
2:43 pm
Actually I tend to do both. If I have to pick one, I’d say use other people’s patterns, but then I still “tweak” them to suit me
09-10-2016
2:44 pm
I still need to use pattern. But I lay it out in EQ7 to play with colors and size.
09-10-2016
2:44 pm
A – I like to design my quilts myself – of course with Electric Quilt!
09-10-2016
2:46 pm
A and B. It depends on the fabric, time available and the reason that I am making the quilt. I have an older version of EQ and have made some beautiful quilts using the software.
09-10-2016
2:46 pm
I like to design my own normally but will use patterns and change the layout.
09-10-2016
2:47 pm
I design my own quilts using EQ7. When I started quilting in 1973, I used graph paper to draw blocks and design quilts. I’ve been using EQ since version 3. If I like a quilt I see in a magazine or on line, I sketch the block on paper and then draw it in EQ. I’ve been using custom set to draw Modern quilts. The Andover fabric selection would be perfect for a Modern Quilt.
09-10-2016
2:48 pm
Hmm. Tough one. When I look at my current and future projects it seems I fill up on other designers projects. My desire is to design my own so I think I need to change something up. I don’t know if I will ever get to my own if I keep finding other designers work I like. A bit of an epiphany here. Thanks for the great question.
09-10-2016
2:48 pm
I am absolutely inspired by other quilts & patterns but I almost always design my own because there’s always something I want to do a little (or a lot) different.
09-10-2016
2:51 pm
I LIKE TO DESIGN MY OWN QUILTS, BUT THEY HAVE ALSO SONE GREAT QUILTS OUT THERE!!!!!
09-10-2016
2:53 pm
I often use a pattern or picture from Pinterest as an inspiration but generally use my own color combinations and may change the size as well.
09-10-2016
2:54 pm
Both, I may take a block from a pattern and then incorporate it into a whole new setting. Sometimes I add blocks to increase the size of a quilt.
09-10-2016
2:58 pm
I am definitely a quilter who loves to design her own quilts. Only a couple of times have I used a pattern of another designer to make a quilt. I guess that’s just something that appeals to me to go through the whole process. And what could be better than playing with EQ7 to accomplish this?
09-10-2016
2:58 pm
I designed and made two t-shirt quilts, but otherwise I use someone else’s patterns. But even then, I often make changes.
09-10-2016
3:00 pm
I like both.
09-10-2016
3:00 pm
I like to use other people’s patterns, but I also like to design my own.
09-10-2016
3:01 pm
For actual quilts that I’m making, I prefer to use my own designs.
However, I design many more quilts in EQ in my virtual world than I do in real life. For these I like to start with another person’s designs and shake them up a little. Or a lot! Many times that design will be unrecognizable from the original. These will never become real life quilts. I’d have to sew 48 hours a day, :p So I’ll stick to my regular schedule of one or two quilts that I’ve designed per year.
09-10-2016
3:02 pm
Mostly B…however, I usually add something personal into the mix. Sometimes, it is adjusting the size of the block or of the quilt, changing the placement of the block pieces, or some other little change to make the quilt more personal.
09-10-2016
3:02 pm
I like to do both.
09-10-2016
3:03 pm
I like designing my own. With all the blocks built into EQ7 it is easy to do so. I especially like being able to play with colors for my quilts before I start sewing.
09-10-2016
3:05 pm
I like to do both. Sometimes it’s just relaxing to follow a pattern and sometimes I love the challenge of designing my own.
09-10-2016
3:06 pm
I only made a couple quilts. I have used someone else’s designs, but also had my granddaughter help me design a quilt for her. She picked out the fabric and chose the designs for the quilt. We had a lot of fun.
09-10-2016
3:06 pm
I like to use other people’s pattern, but I usually add my own twist on the pattern
09-10-2016
3:08 pm
a. I like to design my own quilts.
09-10-2016
3:10 pm
I have done both but there are so many beautiful patterns I can’t resist and the fabric offered now is just amazing.
09-10-2016
3:11 pm
In the past I didn’t really use EQ 5 & 6. But EQ 7 is so easy to do and design what I want with my own fabric, that I end up creating more quilts than I could ever make!
09-10-2016
3:11 pm
A. I like to design my own quilts. I may start off with someone else’s block or quilt layout but with EQ I end up with a version uniquely my own.
09-10-2016
3:11 pm
I like to get ideas from patterns and then add my own ideas to make it my way
09-10-2016
3:12 pm
I use patterns, but sometimes I will change them up. I also do my thing occasionally.
09-10-2016
3:12 pm
With all due respect, some of us love to sew and quilt but have small time frames. We also would like to win fabric but are exhausted and can’t think of much creative to say on these contests. Just picking someone from a registration would be wonderful. Thanks for listening and I love my EQ7!
09-10-2016
3:15 pm
So far I have used patterns or taken classes. Now with EQ I am about to embark on a quilt for my granddaughter that we designed together entirely from EQ blocks and color/fabric choices. Using EQ to design gives me the confidence that we will be satisfied with the result.
09-10-2016
3:16 pm
I like to design my own quilts. I probably design about half or more of the ones I’ve done so far.
09-10-2016
3:17 pm
I most frequently use a pattern from a magazine or book, but often draw it up in EQ7 to change the size or setting or to see what it might look like in different fabrics, etc.
09-10-2016
3:17 pm
I definitely prefer to design my quilts
09-10-2016
3:20 pm
B. I like to use a pattern someone else has designed. I may modify the pattern and may radically change the fabric choices.
09-10-2016
3:21 pm
I am somewhere in between. I like to start with B. (I like to use a pattern someone else has designed.) and then take it somewhere on my own.
09-10-2016
3:23 pm
I like to design my own quilts, but also use quilt patterns that will challenge me.
09-10-2016
3:24 pm
B…
09-10-2016
3:24 pm
Currently I enjoy using patterns that someone else has designed but I tweak the coloring to please my eye.
09-10-2016
3:24 pm
I like to design my own quilts
09-10-2016
3:27 pm
I am a B person let others design and I will tweak to my style.
09-10-2016
3:27 pm
As my ability to design my own quilt patterns in EQ7 grows, I will be able to do more than use patterns designed by someone else with tweaks to coloring.
09-10-2016
3:29 pm
Both! I see something interesting and make changes in EQ7.
09-10-2016
3:30 pm
I love to design my own quilts.
09-10-2016
3:30 pm
I would like to design my own quilts, but I also use others patterns as well.
09-10-2016
3:31 pm
A & B! I quite often am inspired by someone else’s design, but work out my own version. Sometimes it’s a conglomeration of several designs with a bit of my own thrown in! Or I just start from scratch, with the help of EQ7 and embroidery digitizing software.
09-10-2016
3:33 pm
I mostly do patterns that other people designs because I have accumulated a ton of them some complete as a kit, however I do dearly love to try and design my own quilts and have done several. I just need to get some of my kits completed so I can have more time to design my own quilts.
09-10-2016
3:36 pm
B…MOSTLY
09-10-2016
3:37 pm
I almost always use someone else’s pattern or a classic quilt block. With patterns I sometimes change things up and often make the quilt queen size by adding more of the blocks in the pattern. I also downsize to make a cute doll quilt rather than full size. I use blocks from EQ or magazines and design a set I like and make the quilt queen size, or doll or crib size. I keep a lot of pictures for set ideas. I rarely try to make a block just from my head but I draft blocks and quilts from a picture, good thing geometry was the only math I ever liked.
09-10-2016
3:39 pm
i love to design my own, although I am often inspired by traditional blocks.
09-10-2016
3:41 pm
Whenever possible I much prefer designing my own quilts. Since I always have a handful of quilts going at the same time there is plenty of opportunity to combine making my own designs and trying out other designers new patterns. Thank you for this opportunity to win such gorgeous fat quarters.
09-10-2016
3:43 pm
I enjoy both. It just depends on the final purpose of the piece.
09-10-2016
3:43 pm
A and B. Love to design and recolor in EQ7. Andover is one of my favorite fabric companies and being able to download their fabrics into EQ7 is a serious bonus.
09-10-2016
3:45 pm
Sometimes I just like to let a fabric collection talk-to-me, then I’ll play with those colors in various blocks in EQ to take it a step further. This could be either designing a specific block, one out of the block libraries, or a combination. Then the fun begins putting those patterns together in a digital quilt, tweaking until it pleases me. I’d rather do this than waste cutting into fabric before I know it’s a pleasing combination. So, I guess that means A. and B.!
09-10-2016
3:56 pm
I like to put my own spin on traditional blocks!
09-10-2016
3:57 pm
You sure don’t make it easy to sign up for the contests, I’ve clicked on four ENTER NOW places and no place to enter I find. Just to let you know.
09-10-2016
3:57 pm
Most times I like to use pre-designed patterns for my quilts. At other times, especially when I am doing baby quilts for ladies in our congregation, I like to design my own.
09-10-2016
3:57 pm
I like to take a quilt pattern that already exists and put my own spin on it. Sometimes I do try to design my own quilts but use elements from someone else. I guess I like both A and B.
09-10-2016
3:58 pm
I am both A & B. Sometimes I follow a pattern and sometimes I modify the pattern and sometimes I do my own design.
09-10-2016
3:59 pm
I like to use public domain patterns and sometimes I purchase patterns.
09-10-2016
4:00 pm
I like to start with a pattern and make it my own with color choices and arrangements. Scrap quilts are my favorites, and I enjoy using my stash to personalize a pattern!
09-10-2016
4:04 pm
Just starting to help design a pattern with my husband!
09-10-2016
4:04 pm
B for me!! Usually I purchase and use a commercial pattern when making a quilt. Sometimes I use a free pattern someone has posted online. Someday I hope to learn EQ7 and create my own patterns!
09-10-2016
4:04 pm
Most definitely A..design my own. I just love putting fabrics together haphazardly! Of course sometimes that also means starting with a pattern and venturing somewhere else. But ultimately it doesn’t matter which way I go as long as I personalize it for the eventual owner/cuddler.
09-10-2016
4:08 pm
I like to use a pattern someone else has designed, but sometimes will tweak it a bit.
09-10-2016
4:08 pm
I often use a pattern I have, or a pattern I’ve seen, to give me a jump to “my own thing”. I usually use EQ7 to help with color and / or block placement.
09-10-2016
4:09 pm
I would say B, I like to use a pattern someone else has designed, when I can afford to buy the EQ7 , I will then design my own
09-10-2016
4:12 pm
When I am doing something quick or a project catches my eye, I like that person’s pattern. However, I also have created my own quilts – especially memory quilts for nieces when they graduated from college – that’s a lot harder but fun as well. I guess I like both, depending on my mood and what I like doing at the time.
09-10-2016
4:14 pm
I like both, depending on my mood. I’ve done both of them.
09-10-2016
4:14 pm
I Like to use a pattern because the amounts of fabric needed is there and it goes faster. If I design my own it takes longer and sometimes is a failure…. So for me patterns also allow me to bounce my own twist on it.
09-10-2016
4:21 pm
A: I love designing my own quilts and have used EQ since designing my second quilt seven years ago! I especially like being able to import my own fabrics to test various colorways prior to cutting.
09-10-2016
4:24 pm
I like to use a pattern someone else has designed since there are so many and I will never exhaust all of them.
09-10-2016
4:24 pm
A I am working with EQ7 to come up with my own design.
09-10-2016
4:24 pm
Both A and B describe me. I make the patterns of others my own through my fabric selection an quilting design. I also like to play with my own ideas for a particular quilt.
09-10-2016
4:25 pm
In general, it’s B – I use other patterns. But often times, I find that want to add a border or change one of the central blocks and then my design skill (and EQ7) come into play.
09-10-2016
4:25 pm
Mostly B for me. Starting to learn EQ7, so who knows what’s in store for the future.
09-10-2016
4:26 pm
I am new to quilting. I love it. I like to use patterns that have already been done. I would one day like to design my own.
09-10-2016
4:27 pm
I usually start with a pattern but I often change the size of the blocks or the quilt using EQ. I just designed a panel quilt for a guild challenge and found blocks to go with a coaster kit I had gotten on vacation using Block Base.
09-10-2016
4:31 pm
I usually do a combination of both–I use a pattern as a jumping off point and then make the design my own by adding or subtracting elements. I love using EQ7 as a preview to see if my ideas work.
09-10-2016
4:31 pm
Depends, I like to do both.
09-10-2016
4:31 pm
Both. I have made more quilts using other patterns but I look forward to creating my own with the help of EQ7.
09-10-2016
4:33 pm
I definitely prefer to work with patterns others have designed, but I hardly ever make the quilt 100% like they designed it. I just have to add my own little bit to it.
09-10-2016
4:34 pm
I’m still using prepared patterns, but I always like to change something to make it my own. I’m still a newbie with EQ7, but maybe some day….
09-10-2016
4:34 pm
Both… I love to adapt purchased patterns to make them my own and I love designing my own from scratch!
09-10-2016
4:34 pm
I like to do my own thing. If I use a pattern I adapt it so it looks the way I want it. Thanks.
09-10-2016
4:37 pm
I was hoping for option C – I More often start with someone else’s pattern and then rework it some or a lot!
09-10-2016
4:37 pm
Um dia terei um EQ25 POR ENQUANTO SOU iniciante ainda não da para encontrar mas e sonho
09-10-2016
4:38 pm
I mainly use patterns and put my own spin on them.
09-10-2016
4:48 pm
I mainly use boughten patterns or books but want to do dome designs of my own.
09-10-2016
4:49 pm
I’m a designer!
09-10-2016
4:51 pm
I do both A and B. Occasionally, I design an original quilt in EQ. But more often, if I see an interesting pattern, I do it up in EQ and see where it takes me – my favorite way to use EQ. Pattern directions are oftentimes specific for one size. EQ gives me the flexibility to change the block or quilt size, along with the fabrics (colors), and see how the changes affect the pattern. Then I can judge whether or not I want to go forward with the project.
09-10-2016
4:52 pm
I do a little of both…and I tweak the ones that are designed by someone else sometimes.
09-10-2016
4:55 pm
I’m starting to create my own designs more and more, but I still enjoy using other’s patterns, especially if I’m pressed for time on a project.
09-10-2016
4:56 pm
I occasionally do a pattern directly as written but most often change things up to suit me. Which is why I love EQ. I can see what a wider border, or another color, or a different setting will do. Or throw the whole thing out because I got inspired to go in a whole other direction!
09-10-2016
4:58 pm
I’m content to use it a pattern designed by someone else often making changes to make it to my own to fit my preferences. I might change the size, color palette and I often get creative adding embellishments.
09-10-2016
4:58 pm
I like to use a pattern and put my own spin on it. I have EQ but work all week so i just dont seem to have enuogh time to design and quilt too. But retirement is around the corner and then i can design more.
09-10-2016
5:05 pm
B. I like to use someone’s design but make a few of my artistic changes to it to make it a bit different for my taste. Colour and fabric changes make the quilt a whole new world of excitement.
09-10-2016
5:16 pm
It’s fun practising with others designs and changing to my colours and I love then moving things around on EQ7 to form my own design
09-10-2016
5:19 pm
I like to work with other patterns, adjusting to what my vision is.
09-10-2016
5:19 pm
I use either free or purchased patterns although I will sometimes vary them somewhat. There are lots of great patterns out there that I want to make and can’t seem to get through the list fast enough!
09-10-2016
5:19 pm
I purchase patterns for my quilts.
09-10-2016
5:22 pm
I love to design my own quilts. If I am really happy with the design, I then share it with others as a pattern
09-10-2016
5:22 pm
I do both.
09-10-2016
5:25 pm
Well to telL you the truth, I am a designer, so I like designing. Now here is the catch, it’s everyone else’s designs that get me going! So, I would have to say…A & B
09-10-2016
5:30 pm
I do both, but creating my own pattern is my favorite way to go. I frequently get the inspiration for the pattern from my fabric choice and let the fabric design guide me on where to go. Someday, I would like to design my own fabric!
09-10-2016
5:31 pm
I like to design my own quilts or use an EQ7 quilt design and recolor it as my own. I have done that with Karen stone quilts.
09-10-2016
5:38 pm
I like using a pattern. I like thinking how I could change the pattern to make a smaller quilt and appropriate for kids. I make small quilts for the NIC Unit for a hospital near me.
09-10-2016
5:39 pm
I would say both!
09-10-2016
5:40 pm
I’m a little of both. If I see a pattern I like, I will choose my own fabrics and usually end up modifying the pattern to some degree. If I already have fabric that reached out and grabbed me, then I will design a quilt around it. Sometimes I ‘borrow’ from other designs.
09-10-2016
5:41 pm
I like to use traditional patterns , then add my own designs in the dashing and border.
09-10-2016
5:42 pm
I prefer to design my own patterns, or at least add my own spin. EQ7 is wonderful. I can’t imagine being without it!
09-10-2016
5:43 pm
I like changing a pattern.
09-10-2016
5:44 pm
Lately, I get my inspirations from patterns or from books. The fabrics usually dictate the style.
09-10-2016
5:45 pm
I like to let the fabric decide what pattern to use
09-10-2016
5:47 pm
There are so many amazing designers that I can’t resist using patterns; but I always end up making some changes to them. I like the idea of designing my own quilts, but it tends to make me nervous!
09-10-2016
5:51 pm
I love to take a quilt I’ve seen and recreation the pattern with my fabric choices and different colors. Then I let EQ7 shake it up a it.
09-10-2016
5:55 pm
I like to use already designed patterns, but it is also fun to take a simple block
from EQ7 and try different quilt designs, and someday I will make one of them !
09-10-2016
5:56 pm
start with pattern and adjust to fit my needs
09-10-2016
5:57 pm
Right now I use patterns I find and adapt them. Some day I hope to be able to design my own quilt patterns.
09-10-2016
5:57 pm
I love both! Sometimes I follow a pattern, although I usually change something. Mostly I get an idea and go to EQ to play with it. It’s not hard to come up with many variations in short order. All just so much fun!
09-10-2016
5:58 pm
For the most part I like to follow other people’s patterns. But once or twice I gave designed my own and would like to do more of that in the future. When I get braver.
09-10-2016
5:59 pm
I design my own. If I do use a pattern, I find myself changing something here or there. Thanks for the chance to win!
09-10-2016
6:01 pm
I LOVE to search for a pattern that speaks to me, but by the same token I will sometimes put my own spin to work for me. Of course, I must incorporate the absolute best fabric to coordinate with the pattern. Sometimes, it is just THE fabric that starts me looking.
09-10-2016
6:01 pm
I start with a pattern but make changes to it so it satisfies my fabric choices and my own vision, I enjoy playing with various blocks and create new designs. So my answer would be both A and B.
09-10-2016
6:02 pm
I love to design my own quilts. However, I get a lot of inspiration from websites and magazines, and I like to use traditional blocks as well. There are so many ways to change the look of a quilt design just by using a different fabric pattern or colour, the variations are endless! I use my EQ7 to work out shapes and patterns, and I have so many quilts that I want to make, that even when I start a new quilt, I’m thinking about the next one I want to do!
09-10-2016
6:03 pm
I like to use patterns as I am developing my quilting skills. I like patterns with good instructions particularly when they tell you what the blocks should measure as you go.
09-10-2016
6:05 pm
I like both A and B. Sometimes I see a pattern and make that quilt. Sometimes I will see a pattern that gives me an idea for a new quilt and can’t wait to see how it turns out.
09-10-2016
6:05 pm
I like to design my own patterns. It gives me the freedom to do whatever I want. Something totally my own or start with an idea or blocks from a pattern and resize and create a layout to suit me. However, I belong to a group that meets monthly to make blankets for Project Linus and each month we get a kit with a pattern to make a quilt top. So much of what I make is from someone else’s patterns.
09-10-2016
6:05 pm
I typically make quilts from other people’s patterns, but since getting EQ7, I hope to design more of my own.
09-10-2016
6:06 pm
Mostly A. I love to design my own quilts, although inspiration comes from all over including other quilter’s styles and quilts. Even when I first started quilting and used purchased patterns or quilts from books I usually put my own spin on them and changed them.
09-10-2016
6:08 pm
I like to use patterns for inspiration, and for making quilts. But will sometimes change things up a bit if able.
09-10-2016
6:09 pm
I’ve never actually made a quilt before but I’m working on designing my own blocks.
09-10-2016
6:09 pm
I love to design my own quilts. My favorite thing is to use traditional blocks and combine them in a different way so that you get a wonderful quilt with lots of movement and an Escher like effect! That is what I love so much about EQ7, it allows me the freedom to play all I want with different combinations and colors!
09-10-2016
6:10 pm
I like to do both. I love finding interesting blocks on EQ 7 and I also like to design my own. I recently finished making a Karen Stone quilt.
09-10-2016
6:13 pm
So far, I’ve always used patterns designed by other quilters. I want to start designing my own soon! I’m thinking my EQ7 software is really going to help.
09-10-2016
6:13 pm
Sometimes I like to design my own quilts with EQ and other times I like to use a pattern by someone else. I all depends on the fabric and my mood.
09-10-2016
6:14 pm
I like to use both. I use a pattern first especially if it’s one I’ve never done before, then I’ll do a design of my own. Both spark creativity
09-10-2016
6:14 pm
I work from traditional designs to come up with something new and mine.
09-10-2016
6:15 pm
I like to design my own quilts, but get so much inspiration from the patterns and quilts that I see on the computer that it is hard to say that just one is my favorite way to decide on a quilt.
09-10-2016
6:16 pm
Call me a snob, but at this point in my quilt life, I don’t want to make anyone else’s quilts. There are more than enough ideas in my head to keep me sewing ’til I die!
09-10-2016
6:19 pm
I like to design my own quilts. I already have a plan when I win the Allison Glass collection.
09-10-2016
6:19 pm
I like to design my own quilts.
Fun!!
09-10-2016
6:20 pm
Both!
09-10-2016
6:23 pm
I do like to design my own quilts, often using traditional blocks and templates but incorporating other neat effects that have caught my eye over time. EQ7 is a really useful way to preview the assembly and to see how big my quilt needs to be, how many blocks there are, how borders will look. No better moment than when you cut into a new fabric for the first time and start to make the new quilt take shape.
09-10-2016
6:23 pm
Both A & B. I may start out with someone’s design but change it up how I want it to look.
09-10-2016
6:28 pm
A. I like to design my own quilts! I design the quilts I would really love to see in magazines and shows. And of course, designing in EQ is fun and easy! It is a lot less work than actually making a quilt, and all these virtual quilts take up very little space in my home!
09-10-2016
6:30 pm
I am constantly looking a patterns but usually design or redesign my own quilts. I rarely buy a pattern and follow the directions from beginning to end. Some thing always calls to me from my stash or while I’m on a routine shooing run at one of my local fabric stores.
09-10-2016
6:34 pm
B but I’m working on turning into an A.
09-10-2016
6:34 pm
I like ve to design my own quilts. I use ideas from patterns or pictures, but I always make them my own.
09-10-2016
6:34 pm
I have done it all–patterns, BOMs, kits, etc, but my goal is to design my own. I have a few to my credit, one I am particularly proud of. I’m working to get comfortable with EQ to help me, but not there yet.
09-10-2016
6:35 pm
Definitely – A. I like to design my own quilts. I’m not good at it yet, though. Which means that I do a lot of ripping out and re-doing. Definitely not at my most productive when I make something that looks good in my head or on graph paper, but not so great when I put it together!
09-10-2016
6:45 pm
Most of the time A. I do use other people’s patterns for complex paper pieced blocks. Generally if I use someone else’s quilt pattern I put my own spin on it.
09-10-2016
6:47 pm
I’m definitely in the B catagory right now. I’m not confident in dealing with all the math.
09-10-2016
6:50 pm
I like to start with an idea from someone else’s design but then make it my own by tweaking some aspect of it.
09-10-2016
6:54 pm
I like to find an idea from an existing pattern and modify it to make the quilt I am envisioning in my mind.
09-10-2016
6:51 pm
I like to design my own quilts, sometimes using traditional patterns with a twist and sometimes letting the fabric speak to me.
09-10-2016
6:53 pm
A is my answer I like to design my own quilt
09-10-2016
6:56 pm
B. I like to use a pattern someone else has designed.
I just tweak it to suit my own color way.
09-10-2016
6:58 pm
B. I like to use a pattern someone else has designed.
I just tweak it a little to suit my favorite colors.
09-10-2016
7:00 pm
It’s my preference to design my own, but any times I get inspiration from other’s designs.
09-10-2016
7:05 pm
I love working with someone else’s ideas. Often with the unused fabrics from a project I will come up with a idea of my own. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.
09-10-2016
7:06 pm
I think there should be a third choice of “all of the above.”
I love using EQ to design my own Quilts. Having EQStitch allows me the freedom to combine my own Embroidery Designs with my quilt designs without skipping a beat. It is also very nice to have a program that allows me to design quilting designs on the fly.
The fun here is unique quilt designing, with very little stress. I like that part.
I also used EQ to add my own twist to a quilt design or a block I have seen in a magazine or during a Quilt Shop or Quilt Show visit. As one of my EQ Students said, the “possibilities are endless” and she’s right.
09-10-2016
7:15 pm
I’d say I’m more the “a”. I love designing my own blocks and quilts. I find it’s as much fun as actually making the quilt sometimes.
09-10-2016
7:16 pm
A. I love to design my own quilts using my EQ7 program!
09-10-2016
7:17 pm
I usually like to design my own quilts. If I ever use a pattern designed by someone else,I always adapt or modify it.
09-10-2016
7:19 pm
I like to design my own quilts
09-10-2016
7:22 pm
I like to design my own quilts using the many ideas and patterns I collect. If I am in a hurry I will use a pattern.
09-10-2016
7:22 pm
I love to design my own quilts! Everything I see inspires me. The designs come faster than the ability to quilt them! I need more wonderful fabrics for my stash!
09-10-2016
7:28 pm
I design my own and even when I use someone else’s pattern I change things around and fool around with it in EQ.
09-10-2016
7:28 pm
I do both. Recently, when I have seen something I like. I replicate it in EQ. Sometimes it shows up in fabric, sometimes I go back to that design after other projects have been completed.
09-10-2016
7:29 pm
I like to design my own quilts and see design possibilities everywhere.
09-10-2016
7:31 pm
I prefer to design my own quilts but have been known to use a pattern too. If I use a pattern I always use different fabrics.
09-10-2016
7:32 pm
I like to design my own quilts.
09-10-2016
7:32 pm
I do a bit of both, it depends on who the quilt is for and whether I have a specific fabric in mind. When I use someone else’s design, I often amend it a bit to suit my own style and colour preferences.
09-10-2016
7:33 pm
I like to use a pattern someone else has designed however if I like the pattern I will make it my own!
09-10-2016
7:37 pm
I like to design my own quilts
09-10-2016
7:40 pm
B. Use a pattern or design from someone else.
09-10-2016
7:42 pm
It all depends on the mood of the day;)
I enjoy following patterns, i love mystery quilt alongs, and blocks of the month.
I also like to design my own. Thanks for the chance to win a great prize.
09-10-2016
7:42 pm
Hi I usually find a quilt I like then change it to make it mine.
09-10-2016
7:43 pm
I like to design and I often start out with a pattern and make changes to make it my own.
09-10-2016
7:47 pm
I wish I had enough time and imagination to design my own quilts. I use a pattern someone else has designed but usually choose my own fabrics.
09-10-2016
7:50 pm
Gee, this is hard to answer because I kind of like doing both. I like to play and design ideas that I have, but I also like to use traditional patterns. This is a really hard question to answer.
09-10-2016
7:51 pm
I like to do some of both. Sometimes it depends on the fabric. If I want to use a specific fabric or have a theme (like a baby quilt) I’ll design my own. Other times, I see a pattern and love the fabrics in it so I use the existing pattern.
09-10-2016
7:53 pm
I don’t think I’ve ever followed a “real” pattern except to teach the granddaughters. Since EQ I usually make mine up in the program – and then still change them.
09-10-2016
7:55 pm
I do both, sometimes I enjoy just working on something I don’t have to think about. Other times I play in EQ or on my design wall to do something unique.
09-10-2016
7:57 pm
I usually start with a design from someone else then change it to suit me and my fabrics.
09-10-2016
8:01 pm
I absolutely prefer designing my own. I started over ten years ago and just can’t stop!
09-10-2016
8:02 pm
I love to design my own! It is a special feeling when you see a finished quilt that is totally you!
09-10-2016
8:03 pm
Both A & B I like to design my own. However sometimes I look to look at other’s design and then it triggers an inspiration to my own design.
09-10-2016
8:05 pm
I like to design my own designs. But, time does not allow that very often.
09-10-2016
8:06 pm
I usually seem to start with a pattern/picture of a quilt. From there I like to add bits and pieces from others, and the back is always improvised and my own. Thanks for this opportunity to win such wonderful fabric.
09-10-2016
8:06 pm
I’ve almost always followed patterns in the past, but always changed something to make it my own. Now that I have EQ, I am looking forward to creating my own designs.
09-10-2016
8:06 pm
I like to do both and play with color. I love how changing the colors can completely change the impact of a quilt.
09-10-2016
8:06 pm
B – I start with an idea from a pattern then adapt it. The end quilt may look nothing like the original pattern, but on my label I always acknowledge where the idea came from.
09-10-2016
8:12 pm
A.I really enjoy designing my own patterns
09-10-2016
8:16 pm
B. I have not tried too hard to learn EQ7. I am going to start on Oct 1st to learn EQ7. Going to make time every day to learn a little. I do know some about how to use it.
09-10-2016
8:19 pm
Both A and B sometimes you like the pattern and not the colour way and other times you need to make it bigger so you have to do a little redesign.
09-10-2016
8:20 pm
I like to do both. If I like a pattern I will get it. Sometimes I have an older pattern and will adapt it to something that barely resembles the original pattern. I like to take a block and rework it into a new look, design, or shape. I like to have fun with what I have available. I rarely make the changes but when I do I let the person receiving the quilt that the idea came from the original designer.
09-10-2016
8:21 pm
A little of both!
09-10-2016
8:22 pm
Ab. I like to design my own quilts using other quilts or designs as a starting point.
09-10-2016
8:24 pm
A. I like to design my own quilts.
I like to play with my EQ7 blocks and make my own creating something special for special people in mind.
09-10-2016
8:24 pm
I like to start with a pattern but I find ways to add my touches to it.
09-10-2016
8:32 pm
A I love to design with EQ!
09-10-2016
8:33 pm
I usually use a pre-designed pattern but sometimes I make up my own. Thanks for the chance to win
09-10-2016
8:33 pm
I like to design my own quilts.
09-10-2016
8:39 pm
I like to design my own, but I usually take inspiration from someone’s pattern and make changes and additions.
Thanks!
09-10-2016
8:40 pm
I’m a B. I always start with a pattern then who knows what will happen
09-10-2016
8:44 pm
I usually do choice B. But now and then I invent something on my own.
09-10-2016
8:45 pm
I like to design my own quilts.
09-10-2016
8:48 pm
I’m a beginner quilter so I like to start with someone else’s pattern until I feel comfortable making my own design. I do use others patterns but the first quilt I made for my mom’s BD, I used a pattern but I made my own quilting template. It turned out really good for a first quilt.
09-10-2016
8:49 pm
I like to begin with someone else’s idea and than make it into my own. Thanks for a great contest.
09-10-2016
9:05 pm
I love to look at someone else’s quilt ideas and use some of them to make my own.
09-10-2016
9:05 pm
A. I love to design my own quilts. I love to doodle then carry out or use fabric color texture as inspiration.
09-10-2016
9:06 pm
I like to design my own quilts…usually the ideas come late at night playing around with EQ7. All of a sudden an idea appears and just grabs you.
09-10-2016
9:11 pm
A. I like to design my own quilts.
09-10-2016
9:13 pm
i am new to machine piecing and quilting having learned only making my own templates hand cutting, piecing and hand quilting
09-10-2016
9:13 pm
never tried to design my own quilt… I have always used a pattern …. but would like to try and design my own.
09-10-2016
9:14 pm
I usually get inspired by seeing the quilts others have made but, now that I’m learning & using EQ, I can trace images from my own photos and make quilts or blocks and audition fabrics, sashing and border sizes.
Seldom buy “patterns” now but, if I do, I let EQ give me the modification options and usually take advantage of the changes that appeal to me the most.
09-10-2016
9:15 pm
I would say right now I lean more toward using a pattern since I’m what I would call an advanced beginner. I would love to eventually design my own though.
09-10-2016
9:18 pm
While I aspire to design my own quilts, truth be told, I generally use patterns. Like others, I do like to leave my own creative imprint on the quilts I make though and look for ways to “edit” them to be my own.
09-10-2016
9:22 pm
B is usually my choice. I’m just beginning to experiment with making changes.
09-10-2016
9:27 pm
B – I like a pattern that someone else has designed, however, I choice which fabrics to use and can change things from there.
09-10-2016
9:31 pm
I have a split personality when it comes to designing! haha!! I love to draw up my own patterns but then when I start making them I think now how do i do this?? I am faster when I have someone else’s pattern but have my favorite fabrics that I like to make up into unique patterns that I dream up. would love to win those beautiful fat quarters! thanks for the giveaway.
09-10-2016
9:33 pm
I like to design my own quilt but a large part of that process is looking at quilts others have made and figuring out which elements, color combinations, quilting designs, etc. appeal to me. So many ideas, so many quilts.
09-10-2016
9:34 pm
I frequently start with a pattern and make some adjustments to block size, enlarging some or all of the blocks, expanding a portion to make a larger finished quilt size, to make my quilts.
09-10-2016
9:34 pm
I like to design my own or die trying!
09-10-2016
9:35 pm
A – I sometimes get ideas from quilt shows or magazines but mostly I like to design my own. Even when I have a design from a magazine or a book that I like, I generally use EQ7 to change it in some way to make it my own. At the moment, I am doing Tula Pink’s City Sampler and I put all the blocks into EQ7 so I can foundation piece them. Love the program!!!
09-10-2016
9:36 pm
I like to get ideas from patterns but then make them my own to fit the fabrics I might have on hand.
09-10-2016
9:42 pm
I use other people’s patterns
09-10-2016
9:42 pm
A & B, I use patterns from others many times because I love the fabrics and colors they have used and know I will never find the fabrics locally. Other times I will use patterns from books and adjust it to my needs.
09-10-2016
9:43 pm
I like to start with a pattern and then let it evolve
09-10-2016
9:45 pm
I usually use a pattern someone else has made with maybe some tweaks.

9:48 pm
I like best to design my own quilts, but I also like to take a published pattern and make it my own. I had lots of fun with the row by row patterns I have collected this summer.
09-10-2016
9:49 pm
I love to design my own quilts.
09-10-2016
9:52 pm
I usually start with a pattern but do have one quilt started that is not patterned.
09-10-2016
9:52 pm
A. I love designing my own quilts and pretty much do so exclusively. I do enjoy looking at other’s quilts for inspiration, and once in a great while I will use someone else’s pattern if it’s a new technique or I absolutely fall in love with someone’s design, but I always do something to make it my own.
09-10-2016
9:56 pm
I like to start with a pattern and then make changes to it. Often the changes result from playing with the question ‘what if I did this?’
09-10-2016
9:58 pm
I love using other’s patterns and using my own colors, adding appliqué or embellishing them!
09-10-2016
10:00 pm
Well I guess I use other people’s quilt ideas.I modify their pattern usually making blocks bigger. I have difficulty with color being colorblind so I love all the precuts.
I do not think I have ever made a quilt just like it was in the, it’s unique!
09-10-2016
10:04 pm
I love looking through magazines or books for ideas, maybe a color scheme or pattern. But I usually create my own quilt, with bits and pieces of ideas that I gather along the way.
09-10-2016
10:04 pm
I like to design my own quilts. I like combining classic blocks with modern fabrics.
09-10-2016
10:06 pm
I like to design my own quilts. It’s what makes them unique.
09-10-2016
10:10 pm
I usually start out with someone else’s pattern. Sometimes I follow it, but many times I change it up a bit with a different border or breaking up the middle with a motif. I’ve often thought I’d like to design my own patterns, but don’t have the patience to do it on paper and I don’t have software for my apple computer that I can use to design on the computer. I wonder if I got a tablet, if I could find software for it? Hmmmm…
09-10-2016
10:12 pm
I like to changes things as I go
09-10-2016
10:13 pm
I do both, have done some designing but more often start with a pattern and tweak it.
09-10-2016
10:13 pm
I like to do both and sometimes I like to add my own design with aspects of other ideas.
09-10-2016
10:15 pm
I pretty much agree with the crowd on this one- I like to design my own occasionally, but also enjoy taking someone’s else’ pattern and making it my own.
09-10-2016
10:17 pm
I like to design my own quilts!
09-10-2016
10:18 pm
I like to use a pattern but I will use the colors that I like to make it my own.
09-10-2016
10:18 pm
I’m a person who likes to have a pattern or idean to start with and then add my touch to it. I don’t particularly like printed patterns/ideas as I have a hard time following their instructions. I like to cut my material/piece as I go and not all at one time.
09-10-2016
10:19 pm
B Using others means no hard math!
09-10-2016
10:20 pm
I usually start with a partern but find that I usually need to make a few changers, size, etc. even when I plan to follow a pattern something seems to change
09-10-2016
10:23 pm
Both! I like to start with a pattern or idea and modify to make it my own, but I am always so impressed with patterns others have come up with.
09-10-2016
10:28 pm
I like to start with patterns from different sources and combine them to make my own.
09-10-2016
10:32 pm
I love designing my own patterns.
09-10-2016
10:32 pm
Both describe me pretty well! When looking for a design to make a new quilt, if one pops at me right away, I’ll use it, but often I’ll challenge myself to design a new pattern to use the fabrics I’ve chosen.
09-10-2016
10:33 pm
I like to design my own quilts. When I’m making a quilt for someone, I try to use a theme that reflects their personality. That usually suggests what blocks I’ll choose. From there, I’m usually inspired once I start choosing fabrics. There are times when I’m inspired by quilts at quilt shows or in books, but I make them my own.
09-10-2016
10:33 pm
I definitely like to design my own quilts.
09-10-2016
10:34 pm
I am just learning EQ 7. So far I like to look at other patterns, figure them out and then make my own. When I get better I think I will enjoy making my own.
09-11-2016
8:01 am
Is this my friend, Carol Bell in Washington??
Me, too! I am just learning EQ7. Wish I could take a course somewhere–. Nice seeing you in August–hope to run into you again someday:>) Sandy
09-10-2016
10:35 pm
I like to design my own quilts but other quilts give me ideas about layout, color and design. There are many talented quilters out there – love to see their inspirations!
09-10-2016
10:37 pm
I like doing both – I design my own for some projects, particularly for custom nursery sets I do when commissioned; I also like more traditional ones for my own use, for gifts, or just to practice keeping the traditions alive.
09-10-2016
10:39 pm
I like to do both.
09-10-2016
10:39 pm
I prefer to use a pattern although I have created a few on my own.
09-10-2016
10:42 pm
I love to design my quilts using EQ
09-10-2016
10:44 pm
I prefer B but have done both.
09-10-2016
10:46 pm
I love time alone in my sewing room to just create.
09-10-2016
10:47 pm
Most of the time I like to design my own quilts. However some of the time it easy to grab a kit or pattern and run with it….usually when I need a quick gift!
09-10-2016
10:49 pm
I like to make my own quilts mostly, although I’ve been known to use a pattern occasionally.
09-10-2016
10:54 pm
I prefer B, to use patterns. However, have tried to do some without a pattern.
09-10-2016
10:56 pm
I like to do both. I sometimes have a vision and others I use patterns for inspiration
09-10-2016
11:03 pm
I like to use a pattern.
09-10-2016
11:08 pm
I love coming up with my own designs or if I use someone else’s pattern, I vary it to make it my own.
09-10-2016
11:09 pm
Almost always design my own, but I use an occasional pattern and then make it my own changing it up to suit who will receive it. So much fun!
09-10-2016
11:15 pm
I’m a new quilter so I like using a pattern! But hope to design some of my own!
09-10-2016
11:18 pm
I like to use patterns from other designers, but try to add a twist to make it my own.
09-10-2016
11:20 pm
I am inspired by already developed patterns, but like to change it up just a tad … sometimes just one of the blocks, sometimes a little twist that I use on all the blocks … sometimes just adding an applique design somewhere.
09-10-2016
11:33 pm
I like to design my own quilts.
09-10-2016
11:44 pm
I use some patterns and then design something for the back for a two sided quilt.
09-10-2016
11:49 pm
Still being relatively new to quilting, I make quilts someone else has designed…but looking forward to doing my own design soon…
09-11-2016
12:03 am
I usually use someone else’s pattern but almost always tweak it to my own liking.
09-11-2016
12:06 am
I have to design my own quilts That is my therapy, it is my way of learning how they go together, and I always get in trouble using someone else’s pattern for odd reasons.
09-11-2016
12:20 am
I design all my own patterns. What can I say – it keeps me off the street!
09-11-2016
12:29 am
I have done both but prefer to use a pattern, with some expertise involved over and above mine.
09-11-2016
12:36 am
I usually use a pattern designed by others.
09-11-2016
12:38 am
I usually start with a pattern and change it up to make it more personal. I always prefer to use my own color and fabric choices.
09-11-2016
12:41 am
I’ve alwyays used a pattern for my quilts, but I would love to try designing my own with EQ! Thanks for the chance to win this gorgeous fabric!
09-11-2016
12:41 am
I love designing my own patterns!
09-11-2016
12:45 am
I use my own designs and sometimes that means creating a pattern. The very first quilt I designed was designed on Electric Quilt. I love it still.

12:59 am
I like to design my own quilts. EQ7 has helped a LOT with it. Trying out different size blocks and various colour placements help with the final decisions.
09-11-2016
1:00 am
Hi! I like to follow a base pattern but modify depending on circumstances. I have created my own, and am looking forward to using EQ7 to a greater degree!
09-11-2016
1:00 am
I am a B. Like to follow a pattern someone else has designed.
09-11-2016
1:01 am
I like to design my own Quilts.
09-11-2016
1:02 am
B. I use someone else’s pattern or basic idea most often, but usually make some changes, especially by adding embellishments. I design in EQ7 for our guild Gift Quilt program. I would like to make more of my own designs in future, especially some modern quilts. I have been doing the monthly EQ challenge quilt to stretch my ideas further.
09-11-2016
1:12 am
I like to use other people’s patterns but I often find myself tweaking the pattern to fit my needs.
09-11-2016
1:14 am
I HAVE to use a pattern. I follow the directions to the letter and then later I will re-use the pattern adding either techniques I’ve used on other projects or changing some of the directions to see what I will end up with.
09-11-2016
1:34 am
(A) best describes me. I love to design my own quilts.
09-11-2016
1:44 am
I like to use a pattern someone else has designed.
09-11-2016
1:44 am
(B) I often start with a pattern designed by someone else.
09-11-2016
1:54 am
A. I love designing my own patterns when quilting. I used graph paper for years before I bought EQ7.
09-11-2016
2:07 am
I like to design my own quilts!
09-11-2016
2:09 am
I always use the wonderful patterns that someone else has created. There’s so many out there and they inspire me to Quilt more and more.
09-11-2016
2:17 am
I mostly like to design my own quilts on EQ7
09-11-2016
2:19 am
I love taking someone’s design, combining it with another, and adding my own ideas to come up with something new. I always try to give credit to the original designer though.
09-11-2016
2:19 am
I like to design my own quilts. If I do use someone else’s pattern I almost always use it as a starting point only–changing things and redesigning from there to make it mine.
09-11-2016
2:26 am
I do both! I sample sew for a local quilt shop so I need to use patterns for them and I love to support designers (books & patterns) but I also like to do my own thing.
09-11-2016
2:29 am
If “designing your own” means to create your own unique block or applique designs–then I do not do this. If following someone else’s layout and/or using blocks from magazines or books is “using patterns someone else has designed”, then that is what I do. Then the creativity comes with colors and fabrics used, as well as, maybe, a “spin” to make it your own.
09-11-2016
2:29 am
Designing is the way I love to do it. Any patterns or finished quilts that I like very much are used mainly as inspiration only.
09-11-2016
2:53 am
I do a little designing, but generally will see a pattern I like and then adapt it to fit my needs. Not adverse to veering widely from the pattern if I don’t like part of the design.
09-11-2016
3:13 am
A fits me best. I like to design my own patterns.
09-11-2016
3:32 am
I love doing both. Depending my state of mind. Sometimes it is lovely to just follow a design. It brings the mind at ease and clears the way for the designing process.
09-11-2016
3:33 am
I like to design my own but I might start with someone else’s idea and then add my own to come up with a whole new idea.
09-11-2016
3:38 am
I like both! Sometimes it is just satisfying to sit and sew, sometimes I am really into designing myself… But even with existing patterns I tend to wing it a bit to make it special and those moments I live to use my EQ7 to draw what my brain concocted…
09-11-2016
3:43 am
I do more quilts from others’ patterns, but I love to challenge myself to design a pattern that uses the coordinates I have on hand.
09-11-2016
4:00 am
I like to design my own quilts.
09-11-2016
5:04 am
I enjoy designing my own quilts but will use a kit or pattern to try a new technique
I have been using patterns a lot lately
09-11-2016
5:11 am
A. I like to design my own quilts. That’s why I have EQ7!!
09-11-2016
5:18 am
I definatly love to design my own quilts
09-11-2016
5:44 am
I’ve dabbled in both. Started as most would by working with patterns from others, however I have now started to design my own quilts and find using EQ7 a great help
09-11-2016
5:57 am
Most of the time I use patterns, but occasionally I will step out of my comfort zone and design my own.
09-11-2016
6:16 am
I like to design my own quilts, although I also use patterns when I like the quilt a lot.
09-11-2016
6:23 am
I mainly follow patterns but make up with my own fabric choices
09-11-2016
6:33 am
I love to design my own quilt patterns. EQ7 makes it so easy to do. However, I also enjoy making quilts from Judy Niemeyer patterns and many of my quilts have been influenced by other quilt designers or have used traditional quilt blocks. If I were to make a Log Cabin quilt, the first thing I would do is test out block arrangements in EQ7 to decide on the design. I always scan in my fabrics so that I can get a realistic view of my quilt before starting to cut and sew.
09-11-2016
6:55 am
Well, I prefer to work an existing pattern, but change colors sometimes. So my answer is B.
09-11-2016
6:56 am
I follow patterns somewhat. Sometimes I just use them for visual reference
09-11-2016
7:02 am
I like to design my own quilts, but take inspiration from many sources
09-11-2016
7:03 am
I like designing my own quilts, but take inspiration from many sources.

09-11-2016
7:26 am
I love designing my own quilts and EQ7 makes it so easy.
09-11-2016
7:29 am
Right now I make the quilts of others but I am looking forward to making my own. Just completed a class at the EQ acadamy and cant wait to get started. So many insprations. Thank you!!
09-11-2016
7:38 am
I use others patterns.
09-11-2016
7:57 am
I like to do both, design my own or follow a pattern someone else has done. I always switch it up to make it my own.
09-11-2016
7:58 am
Right now, I mostly like using someone else’s pattern. I hope to become confident enough to design my own.
09-11-2016
8:04 am
The reality is that time available is often the factor for A or B. I love EQ7 but I am not very fast at it. It time is of the essence, I resort to known patterns, or those already in EQ7
09-11-2016
8:06 am
I like to do both. I will try a quilt pattern make changes in it. Although I can’t remember the last time I used a pattern the way it was written.
09-11-2016
8:11 am
I always design my own. If I need inspiration, I look at patterns but I always adapt them to suit my skills/stash/patience
09-11-2016
8:22 am
I love the Andover fabric and love to design my own quilts. I get inspiration from having the opportunity to quilt other quilter’s quilts from around Wyoming and ones shipped to me to quilt from other states. I have a ScanNCut2 which I draw my applique designs and it cuts them out perfectly for applique as well as using embroidery applique and the SVG files that come with them to get that exact cut for the embroidery machine to tack down the fabric and complete an embroidery block or project. EQstitch is awesome to create my JPG designs into stitches and stitch out a design. Happy Quilting every one.
09-11-2016
8:24 am
I love to design my own quilts- especially the borders! I will be thrilled when I have learned how to use all aspects of my new EQ7!
09-11-2016
8:26 am
I really like to design my own quilts.
09-11-2016
8:34 am
I like to use a pattern someone else has designed then customise the pattern to design my own quilt
09-11-2016
8:36 am
I like to use a pattern someone else has designed.
09-11-2016
8:39 am
I like to do both. I like to design my own quilts, but it does take more time. If I want to do a fast quilt, I will use a pattern.
09-11-2016
8:42 am
Love to create my own patterns – I start on graph paper and finish on EQ7. I enjoy other’s patterns – when they’re written well.
09-11-2016
8:48 am
I like to design my own quilts.
09-11-2016
8:49 am
I like to do both. Depends on time. I may take and existing pattern and change it up.
09-11-2016
8:49 am
I use others’ patterns but I like to change fabrics.
09-11-2016
8:49 am
I like to design my own quilts.
09-11-2016
8:50 am
I like to design my own quilts.
09-11-2016
8:53 am
I love to make quilts using my own designs–something no one else has ever made.
09-11-2016
9:01 am
I’ve been making my own designs. I sometimes take a creative lead from a pattern, but I will change it up a bit.
09-11-2016
9:01 am
I love designing my own patterns. Even if I buy a pattern (and I buy a lot of patterns) I like to ‘edit’ the pattern. I use patterns as a basic design and make it my own. That’s why I love EQ7, I can edit to my heart’s content.
09-11-2016
9:05 am
I love designing my own quilts especially because I can scan in my own fabrics and play with them during the process. printing out templates and paper piecing templates are a snap using EQ Thanks so much for creating this program
09-11-2016
9:08 am
I’m in between. I’ll start with a pattern, but then modify it.
09-11-2016
9:09 am
I would describe myself as both. I like to use someone else’s pattern to start off with then I will put my own touch to it to change it up a little.
09-11-2016
9:16 am
I compromise and do both, because of time constraints I use a pattern, but like to my put my own spin on things
)
09-11-2016
9:19 am
I design many of my own quilts but sometimes I just want to make something without having to think about it!
09-11-2016
9:22 am
I LOVE DESIGNING MY OWN QUILTS AND USING PATTERNS OTHERS HAVE DESIGNED. MY INSPIRATION COMES FROM THE FABRICS.
09-11-2016
9:29 am
I have made a few quilts of my own design but mostly I use patterns by other people. When I see a quilt or quilt block on Pinterest or elsewhere that I really like, I try to replicate it in EQ7. I may change the size or make other small changes that make the quilt unique.
09-11-2016
9:31 am
I like designing my own quilts mostly, but also sometimes using someone else’s pattern. Sometimes I like to combine elements of several patterns to make a quilt that’s truly unique.
09-11-2016
9:32 am
I like to design my own quilts, but I do often use patterns.
09-11-2016
9:34 am
I’m very new to quilt design, but I started trying my hand and soon tired of graph paper and colored pencils and starting over after mistakes or changes of mind. I got Electric Quilt 7 for my birthday in July 2016 and I have designed 1 quilt that will be a gift for a friend’s granddaughter. I’m excited to learn more!
09-11-2016
9:34 am
I like to design my own quilts 65% of the time. The other 35% of the time, I like to use a pattern that someone else has designed.
09-11-2016
9:35 am
I enjoy designing my own quilts on EQ7. It allows me to change fabrics and layouts until I am satisfied with the results.
09-11-2016
9:39 am
BOTH! Being able to both design, when my brain goes that way, or benefiting from someone else’s creativity, is one of the best aspects of quilting. It’s almost impossible to fail to find something good to work on. Quilting, like so many other positive endeavors, thrives on community.
09-11-2016
9:47 am
I like to get my ideas from patterns someone else has designed.
09-11-2016
9:47 am
lol and you should ask with the help of EQ and BB designing my quilts offers both a challenge and great joy So off to the next one thanks for giving me the freedom to get out of the “Mine must look just like every one elses” Design on!!!!!!! Yeah for the EQ Team 25 great years and counting
09-11-2016
9:59 am
I like to follow patterns. There are so many awesome ones to choose from!
09-11-2016
10:04 am
I’m almost always doing my own now, with EQ7′s help!
09-11-2016
10:06 am
I have created a few of my own patterns, like the one I designed for my Sister’s breast cancer quilt, but usually I start off Using someone else’s pattern as a jumping off point I then make it my own by tweaking the pattern and adding embellishments.
09-11-2016
10:06 am
I love to plan my own patterns and use others patterns
09-11-2016
10:12 am
Using someone else’s pattern is nice for when I just want to sew and jello brain, although some patterns do require a lot of concentration. I usually do some editing of my own. Designing my own quilts is a different kind of fun. I like to do both. The important thing is to remember to have fun.
09-11-2016
10:12 am
I like both. Thank you for the opportunity!
09-11-2016
10:14 am
Both. When it’s something special (like a grandbaby) I like to design my own…but there are so many great patterns, I also love to use a designer’s ideas and play on them.
09-11-2016
10:15 am
Definitely A, I love to design my own quilts — and I could not do it without EQ7 there to work out all the technical details for me! Thanks for an amazing product!
09-11-2016
10:16 am
I like to do both. I’m still learning to use EQ7 but play with it to help design my own blocks or quilts. But I still use patterns designed by others.
09-11-2016
10:18 am
I always use designs by others. Sadly my design skills have never been very good.
09-11-2016
10:21 am
I like to design my own quilts and am constantly doodling new designs. =)
09-11-2016
10:21 am
I like to draw my quilts bigger. EQ helps me do that. So I know how much fabric to buy.
09-11-2016
10:24 am
I have used patterns and made my quilt virtually identical or in different fabrics or part of a pattern or the pattern was inspiration for my own design but I can’t say I’ve ever designed a quilt totally from scratch, yet..
09-11-2016
10:27 am
I have to have a pattern. There are so many I want to make and so little time. Thank you for a great giveaway.
09-11-2016
10:44 am
Beautiful fabrics. I like to do both. My plan is to do more of my own designing, with EQ7 of course!
09-11-2016
10:44 am
I usually make my quilts from patterns designed by someone else but I have made a few that I have designed myself.
09-11-2016
10:44 am
I start with a pattern and then change it to suit my tastes.
09-11-2016
10:48 am
I usually make quilts from patterns designed by someone else but I have also made a few that I have designed myself. It is hard to pick one way only
09-11-2016
10:48 am
B – I like to use someone else’s pattern.
09-11-2016
10:57 am
Both. I love to use EQ7 to design quilts, but I also use patterns and change them to my liking. Eq7 make this so easy.
09-11-2016
11:00 am
I take inspiration from other’s designs, but I usually end up putting my own spin on it. It’s been a long time since I’ve made something specifically from a pattern. I love to use EQ7 to play around with layout and color/fabric before making my final decisions.
09-11-2016
11:04 am
I love designing my own things. It makes it that much more personal when giving as a gift. So my answer is A.
Thanks!
09-11-2016
11:12 am
Mostly A, but I have plenty of patterns!
09-11-2016
11:13 am
I usually use a pattern. I have just finished designing a pattern for my brother-in-law’s birthday. My guild was impressed.
09-11-2016
11:13 am
More and more, I’m doing my own designs in a non-traditional way but sometimes, along comes a pattern that just calls to me.
09-11-2016
11:14 am
I like to design my own quilts. I have done since my first EQ3 program. I am taking a class now about ‘arquitecture’, so each student brought their picture. I design all in EQ7 the next class we had to show our design. My was all inEQ7, the teacher was so impressed with the program that I had to show everyone how I did it!!! They are thinking now may I should teach them more!! I love this program !!! Mercedes
09-11-2016
11:15 am
A little of both… If I see a pattern I like, well, why reinvent the wheel?
09-11-2016
11:16 am
I like both but I have to say I if I have to choose one of que questions woulb be B( I like to use a pattern someone else has designed.
09-11-2016
11:33 am
I love to use another’s pattern with my own original changes.
09-11-2016
11:33 am
A. I like to design my own quilts.
09-11-2016
11:39 am
I like to design my own quilts incorporating ideas from other peoples quilts
09-11-2016
11:46 am
I would say that I prefer to start with a pattern, then make changes to make it mine.
09-11-2016
12:17 pm
A – is my answer but I do both. I like to take a basic block and play around making a quilt, EQ is great for this! Tweeking things around and different colors can make it your own, again EQ is great for this. I know it would be so hard to go back to using paper and pencils now that EQ is here. Hooray for EQ!!!
09-11-2016
12:19 pm
I mostly use someone else’s pattern but I have made my own changes at times.
09-11-2016
12:27 pm
A little of both. Often take someone else’s design and make it my own by changing something – size, layout, colors, additions, subtractions – something.
09-11-2016
12:41 pm
I like to start with someone else’s pattern, but more often than not I tweak it just a little. Thanks for the chance!
09-11-2016
12:46 pm
A, I design all my own quilts! I do love the wealth of traditional blocks earlier quilters have left us to choose from when creating our own designs.
09-11-2016
12:55 pm
I like to design my own quilts.
09-11-2016
1:44 pm
I have designed a few quilts, but patterns are a good jumping off point. I like to incoperate embroidery in my quilts as a designe element. EQ gives an endless opportunity to combine blocks and make a quilt your own even if you are not a designer. I love seeing the design possibilities in fabric I have chosen. Gotta love EQ!
09-11-2016
2:02 pm
I like to do both.
09-11-2016
2:04 pm
I like to design my own quilts. But sometimes I might use a pattern and alter it to suit me. I never use patterns and make it exactly.
09-11-2016
2:28 pm
Designing my own gives me extra joy.
I’m glad to make quilts from patterns and kits too.
Really glad I don’t have to pick just one vs the other in real life Lol.
09-11-2016
2:42 pm
I usually make a quilt from a previously designed pattern. However, lately as I delve more deeply into my EQ7 I have been thinking that I would like to progress to original designs.
09-11-2016
2:46 pm
I’m mostly an A type. Course I get into trouble a bit, but it’s all fun.
09-11-2016
3:00 pm
I mostly use patterns others have designed and will tweak some of them to match what I am thinking.
09-11-2016
3:00 pm
B for the most part. I have designed quite a few of my own quilts, but I find it faster and easier to use an already available pattern. It is a quick way to complete a quilt — no math to deal with.
09-11-2016
3:10 pm
I love to sew others’ designs especially while learning new techniques, but I also enjoy coming up with my own! These Alison Glass fabrics are so pretty!
09-11-2016
3:10 pm
Both, I enjoy designing my own, and I love many works of many wonderful designers. So, the best is both worlds.
09-11-2016
3:15 pm
I like to design my own quilts, I also like to use a pattern someone else has designed. I think to mix up my own ideas and the inspiration of pattern from someone else are the right descrition of me
09-11-2016
3:26 pm
I enjoy both ways to make a quilt. I first look at the pattern and then I look at my fabric. But sometimes I have fabric and way to find the Just Right pattern to go with it.
09-11-2016
3:29 pm
As a relatively new quilter, I like using patterns already created by someone else.
09-11-2016
3:40 pm
I usually design my own, either starting with another design or finding some fabrics I just have to use and starting from scratch!
09-11-2016
4:18 pm
I like both. Sometimes I customize existing patterns with borders.
09-11-2016
4:57 pm
I usually start with a pattern but along the way I make some adjustments and make it my own
09-11-2016
4:57 pm
Definitely A!
09-11-2016
5:00 pm
I generally like to use a pattern to make my quilts, although I have made a couple of simple small quilts I designed.
09-11-2016
5:02 pm
I like to tweek someone else’s design to fit me and the materials I have on hand.
09-11-2016
5:03 pm
Design my own…most of the time.
09-11-2016
5:07 pm
I really do both. Store bought patterns and magazine patterns are my fav.
09-11-2016
5:28 pm
I prefer using a pattern that someone else designed – But I often switch up colours and fabrics as I want. I generally prefer magazine patterns or blog tutorials because they lay out instructions so well.
09-11-2016
5:32 pm
I am a new quilter. Have only used others’ designs so far.
09-11-2016
5:34 pm
I like creating my own pattern. If I do use someone else’s pattern, I will change it to suite my style.
09-11-2016
5:44 pm
I’ve used EQ to design a few small projects, but have mostly used patterns designed by someone else.
09-11-2016
5:46 pm
I like to sign my own quilts and sometimes I like the designs of others.
09-11-2016
6:02 pm
A I like to design my own quilts.
09-11-2016
6:08 pm
A. I definitely like to design quilts and create my own look.
09-11-2016
6:27 pm
I enjoy taking the time to design my own quilts, especially if I have someone special I am making the quilt for. Although it is nice at times to just be able to pick up a pattern and follow someone else’s directions when you don’t want to have to think too much!
09-11-2016
6:42 pm
I generally use other people’s patterns when I make a quilt. Hope to start designing some of my own in the future when I have a little more experience.
09-11-2016
6:54 pm
I like to design my own quilts…whether I combine ideas from other quilters or use my own original ideas. EQ7 makes it soooooooooo easy to get to the quilting faster!!!!!
Thanks EQ7!!!!!
09-11-2016
6:56 pm
Mostly A, but sometimes B
09-11-2016
6:57 pm
I would say I like to design my own quilts more than I like using a pattern, but I find patterns very helpful when experimenting with designs.
09-11-2016
7:00 pm
I tend to use the patterns of others.
09-11-2016
7:01 pm
Both, I start with a pattern and then make changes according to what I need or want. Sometimes its the size, or I add a new element to it.
09-11-2016
7:02 pm
Normally use a pattern, but recently used an original pattern I made when my daughter asked me to make her a cat doorstop….she loved it!
09-11-2016
7:03 pm
I’m a cross between A & B….I get inspiration from already designed quilts and I usually don’t follow the directions exactly, I will always change something here and there. I also definitely use my own colors… I like bright and bold!
09-11-2016
7:06 pm
I like to design my own ! ! ! !
09-11-2016
7:10 pm
I have not designed my own quilt, the patterns I use, I usually modify it in someway.
09-11-2016
7:18 pm
For years I have used others patterns, but recently I designed a few of my own and its both a learning experience and fun!
09-11-2016
7:26 pm
Even when I start with a pattern I wind up redesigning it. I have to quilt each of my blocks and borders separately, and join them after quilting, due to being disabled. Adapting the blocks to be joined by an overall pleasing pattern requires a bit of ingenuity, but it’s worth it!
09-11-2016
7:29 pm
I like to design my own quilts but also use patterns when I let my Grandkids help.
09-11-2016
7:33 pm
I love to design my own quilts (A) but I also love to make quilts by other designers (B)! So I guess I need an option (C) — both of the above. I just finished designing a quilt from scratch in EQ7 and I’m now busy making it (and correcting my own instructions as I go!). It’s so much fun to watch it come to life!
09-11-2016
7:39 pm
I really enjoy the creative process of designing my own quilts. But do defiantly get
inspiration from quilt patterns and do make them along with my own. Love the color palate of the collection up for winnings this month.
09-11-2016
7:40 pm
I use other people’s patterns but want to try designing my own!
09-11-2016
8:02 pm
I like to use a preexisting pattern to tweek and make my own!
09-11-2016
8:07 pm
Mostly I design my own now. Though I would like to use EQ more (my learning curve is huge since I’m 73 and computer illiterate. Oh, to be young again! I make an average of 50 quilts a year, mostly for donation. So happy I have EQ.
09-11-2016
8:23 pm
both if the quilt is fantastic i will buy a kit. Most of the time I take a pattern and tweak it to my style
09-11-2016
8:38 pm
I like to design my own, but I often find inspiration in other people’s designs.
09-11-2016
8:50 pm
For now I use patterns someone else has designed.
09-11-2016
8:57 pm
I usually design my own, but so far they are pretty basic and designed specifically for the person I’m gifting it to. However, I have a few patterns I’m anxious to try!
09-11-2016
9:05 pm
I do both! I make my own designs. I also use a pattern when I like the look or when it’s super easy.
09-11-2016
9:13 pm
I design my own quilts but usually by starting from someone’s design and modifying it or combining elements from different designs.
09-11-2016
9:15 pm
I like to design my own as well as use patterns. Depends on my mood. I also think it depends on the fabric, I like to let the fabric speak to me first!
09-11-2016
9:20 pm
I like to design my own quilts. That is why I love EQ so much. It is so easy to change layouts, audition fabrics and colours, as well as resize, rotate or flip blocks. One idea leads to so many others.
09-11-2016
9:22 pm
A. I like to design my own quilts. Sometimes I like to put my own twist on another person’s pattern or resize it.
09-11-2016
9:34 pm
Now I use patterns designed by someone else. Some day I would like to design my own patterns.
09-11-2016
9:39 pm
A little of both. I do like to follow a pattern or design but rarely buy a pattern. I like the challenge of figuring it out and EQ it. I may tweak a pattern to make it my own. My sisters get a kick out of my fabric that I will buy. Sometimes I have dust left at the end of my project which may be another reason I tweak the pattern!
09-11-2016
9:53 pm
I would like to design my own, but for now I like to you others designs.
09-11-2016
10:06 pm
I like to do both! I enjoy designing some of my quilts, but I also like using patterns if I really like it.
09-11-2016
10:06 pm
I enjoy doing both. I will design a quilt if I want something specific in mind for someone. I will use someone else’s design if I see a design that really intrigues me or something new that I want to try. It’s so great to have both options.
09-11-2016
10:24 pm
I love to use patterns
09-11-2016
10:32 pm
I do a bit of both. When entering a competition, I’ll design my own quilt. But, I have no qualms making one from someone else’s pattern if the design appeals to me. It also is easier on the old brain cells when I don’t have to “think” and can just go.
09-11-2016
10:38 pm
When I started quilting I always used a pattern. As I’ve developed as a quilter I’ve slowly learned to design some of my own patterns. It challenges me to do this but I do love all the wonderful patterns out there!
09-11-2016
10:44 pm
I do both, though when I find a pattern I want to make, I almost always modify the layout or block size or borders, etc. in EQ.
09-11-2016
10:48 pm
I have more fun designing my own quilts, but sometimes I see a pattern that I absolutely have to try My preference is to make it my very own from design to finish though!
09-11-2016
10:52 pm
I like using patterns, though I’ll sometimes change them a bit!
09-11-2016
11:16 pm
A. I like to design my own projects most of the time – I love the design process!
09-11-2016
11:17 pm
I like to design my own quilts but will sometimes use a pattern but I like to give it my own twist.
09-11-2016
11:38 pm
I like to design my own quilts based on the fabrics that I have that inspire me.
09-11-2016
11:39 pm
I like to use someone else’s patterns
09-11-2016
11:47 pm
I like to use someone else’s pattern, but then I also like to make up as I go.
09-11-2016
11:51 pm
I use patterns I see in magazines most of the time.
09-12-2016
12:01 am
I like to use a pattern someone else has designed. But I usually change it up a little, and almost always use totally different fabric.
09-12-2016
12:12 am
I like to design my own blocks and quilts but I like to inspire me to other patterns too!
09-12-2016
12:34 am
I am still learning, and enjoy BOM’s and mystery quilts, but while I will buy a kit I love, I never make exactly as directed. I also enjoy designing my own quilts!
09-12-2016
12:39 am
I really enjoy designing my own quilts, but I will also take a kit I love and “tweak” it, or take a pattern and enlarge it… what a wonderful world of possibilities! r
09-12-2016
12:51 am
I like to use a pattern for inspiration, then change it to make it more my own.
09-12-2016
1:33 am
I usually start with a pattern and alter it to suit my fabric and the “look” I am going for.
09-12-2016
6:59 am
I like to do both.
09-12-2016
7:04 am
I do both. I have only designed one quilt myself but found it rewarding. It was my niece’s wedding quilt. I did use EQ7 to design it.
09-12-2016
7:11 am
I like designing my own quilts and exploring the possibilities with EQ7, but I will make a quilt from a pattern when it tickles my fancy.
09-12-2016
7:25 am
I usually design my own, and when I do follow a pattern I often end up changing it around to put my own stamp on it.
09-12-2016
7:37 am
I like to design my own quilts.
09-12-2016
7:39 am
I like patterns because I am a new quilter. I would love to one day design my own!
09-12-2016
8:08 am
I prefer B. I tends to follow
09-12-2016
8:11 am
A. I like to design my own quilts. I’m designing hexagon quilts for my grandchildren.
09-12-2016
8:16 am
I do both but prefer to make up my own patterns.
09-12-2016
8:17 am
I like to combine patterns and my own designs. Does that make me a “hybrid quilter”?
09-12-2016
8:19 am
I like to use a pattern someone else has designed but I usually pick my own colors.
09-12-2016
8:28 am
I enjoy designing my own quilts, but I also like to start with a pattern and add my own touches. EQ is a great help when doing that!
09-12-2016
8:31 am
A. I like to design my own quilts.
09-12-2016
8:33 am
I typically start with a pattern then sometimes change it up!!
09-12-2016
8:51 am
I like to use a pattern someone else designed, sometimes I change a few things
09-12-2016
8:58 am
B. I like to use a pattern someone else has designed.
09-12-2016
9:11 am
SOMETIMES i DESIGN THE BEST QUILTS IN BED. UNFORTUNATELY BY THE NEXT MORNING THEY MAY BE GONE. THAT’S WHY I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE EQ7 RUN ON AN IPAD (OR ELSE I’LL HAVE TO BREAK DOWN AND GET A LAP TOP!!!)
09-12-2016
9:16 am
I love someones else’s patterns. I’m not good at making my own. I like to see what someone else has come up with, and I can but my spin on it.
09-12-2016
9:26 am
A
I like to design my own but will use patterns for inspiration.
09-12-2016
9:30 am
While it is my desire to design my own quilts, the fact is I end up using other people’s patterns because of time constraints.
09-12-2016
9:36 am
I prefer designing my own quilts, but occasionally buy a pattern.
09-12-2016
9:47 am
I like to design my own quilts, and thanks for the chance to win!!!
09-12-2016
9:49 am
I like to do B.
09-12-2016
10:00 am
I like to use a pattern that someone else has designed. I will add my own changes into it. Thank you for the chance to win!!
09-12-2016
10:20 am
I love having a go at designing my own quilts trouble is I have finished more virtual quilts than fabric ones.
09-12-2016
10:24 am
Using a pattern for quilts is what i prefer to do, but once in a while my creative side takes over and i create a one of a kind quilt.
09-12-2016
10:27 am
I tend to do both. I can often figure it out in EQ7 when I have an idea. I also like to use ready designed patterns and use the program to resize or change borders and/or washings.
09-12-2016
10:30 am
That should read “sashings” (Good old autocorrect”)
09-12-2016
10:41 am
I like to use patterns for embroidery projects but like to design my own piecing.
09-12-2016
10:41 am
I like to use patterns but will change it up. Thanks!
09-12-2016
10:46 am
I tend to do both. I’m mostly a scrap quilter. I like to use EQ7 to decide color distribution across the quilt and test my block ideas before I start sewing the scraps into the block design I want to use. I still have lots to learn about utilizing all the wonderful features of EQ7 and I’m so glad I invested in it. I really hope I win this delightful fat quarter collection. Thank you so much for the opportunity.
09-12-2016
10:56 am
I’m new to quilting, and have been following patterns so far, but would love to design my own!
09-12-2016
11:03 am
I like to design my own quilts. That is where EQ is so handy. I can try out different ideas and also audition color combinations. I find quilting to be so exciting and can hardly wait to see a design come to life.
09-12-2016
11:05 am
I enjoy designing my out pattern with inspiration from a pattern I have seen. Many of the current patterns use batik fabrics. I like to see what happens when I use prints instead. Sometimes I am pleased and sometimes, you guessed it.
09-12-2016
11:08 am
I would like to design my own quilts. There are times that patterns from a different vision, isn’t the one that you are interested in.
09-12-2016
11:08 am
I like to do both.
09-12-2016
11:10 am
I’m very new to quilting so I have been relying on patterns created by other people with a friend’s guidance so far, but would love to be able to design my own. Thank you for the giveaways – The Alison Glass fabrics are beautiful: lovely patterns and such vibrant colors! What is really exciting is learning that there is a great software program available for designing quilts! Based on the reviews I’ve read, Electric Quilt 7 has quite the fan base of owners of the program. I’d love to join them!
09-12-2016
11:30 am
I like to design my own quilts. I like designing.
09-12-2016
11:30 am
I like designing my own quilts.
Occasionally I use patterns when I’m trying to learn something new, or if I particularly like something.
09-12-2016
11:43 am
I like to design my own quilts. Sometimes I take an old pattern and jazz it up,or add unusual sashing or borders. Sometimes I just make it up as I go, sometimes I take EQ7 and go that route.
09-12-2016
11:45 am
Yes, I like to design my own quilts. Sometimes I take an old pattern and jazz it up, or add a different sashing, different borders. Sometimes I make it up as I go, and sometimes I use EQ7 to design what I want.
09-12-2016
11:48 am
I would say I’m both an A and B. I like to do both my own designs and ones from others.
09-12-2016
11:49 am
B. I love to be creative and see it come to fruition in my quilts.
09-12-2016
11:50 am
I like to design my o own.
09-12-2016
11:50 am
Ilike to design my own.
09-12-2016
11:56 am
I like to use a pattern and tweak it to my taste and style.
09-12-2016
12:03 pm
I like to do both. If I need a quilt in a hurry I’ll use one of the many great patterns that are out there. When I feel creative using EQ 7 makes designing fun. So for me A and B.
09-12-2016
12:04 pm
I’m somewhere in between. I get inspired by a pattern I see and want to change it up!
09-12-2016
12:19 pm
I would love to try my hand at designing my own quilt.
09-12-2016
12:38 pm
I like to do both but mostly use patterns and redesign them to make my own look.
