76 students… 11 employees… 4 teachers… 3 days… 1 heck of a good time!
If you weren’t at this year’s EQ Academy – you should have been! 
What a fun 3 days! We kicked it off on Thursday morning with coffee, tea and registration at 8am. (Meeting all the students and welcoming them is my favorite part!) Classes were from 9am-4pm every day with a lunch break at noon when we all enjoyed sandwiches, salads, wraps, snacks and yummy cookies from local restaurants and caterers.
Friday night each of the AWESOME teachers gave a lecture while we all snacked on Anniversary cake and took silly pictures in the photobooth. First, Yvonne Menear spoke about some of her jaw-dropping embroidered quilts (and told an incredibly funny story quoting Taylor Swift’s song, “Shake it Off” 
). After that, Christa Watson displayed many of her amazing quilts and described her design process. Next, EQ Ann took us on a virtual tour through the old versions of Electric Quilt (yes, all the way back to EQ1!). Toward the end of the evening, Susan Lane of Quilts of Valor presented a quilt to EQ President and Air Force Veteran, Dean Neumann – that was really nice! Then, Mary Ellen showed off her students’ creative work from just 2 days of class! The evening came to a close with Barb Vlack’s lecture about several of her beautiful, complex quilts and a few prizes were given.
Classes wrapped up on Saturday and, boy, were we sad to see the students go. We had so much fun with them! (Miss you all and thanks for coming!!)

It was a great 3 days! My EQ knowledge and skills are so much better; I feel very confident about using EQ for any project, now. Thank you to all the EQ team for making this a worthwhile venture!

I did not know what to expect when I signed up for my class with Mary Ellen, but boy, by the end of the day, I knew I couldn’t have made a better decision! Mary Ellen made the class so much fun & her method of teaching was wonderful. From teaching moments to inspiring us to try our hand at designing our own quilts, the best 3 days imaginable. Great staff were always there with a smile & a helping hand if needed. I would highly recommend these programs to anyone on the fence about whether or not it’s worth it. Thank you EQ for a wonderful weekend of learning!

I came with a goal – to learn how to design custom quilts. Thanks to Barb Vlack even though I’ve just purchased the program I was able to meet that goal and so much more! I made many new friends and was fortunate to win some beautiful spring fabrics!!!

Do you ever have classes closer to Florida? I cannot fly and Denver is a long way to drive alone.
