I had no idea when I started this design that it would morph into an Optical Illusion quilt. Optical Illusions fascinate me. I can see this one billowing out in the center. Adding the Storm at Sea blocks in a border completed the illusion. The final border is the binding which seemed to make it more of a modern quilt. Now, how hard would this be to make? I might just have to find out.

Wonderful! I, also, have always been fascinated by optical illusions, and Storm at Sea has been at the top of my list to make “sometime.” However, the repetition of the same block over and over deterred me. Barb Duncan’s concept really makes every part of the quilt interesting. For my use, I would make only a small change. Because I have a 4-poster bed, I must create slit, rounded corners for the bottom, and I would like the lines from the adjoining blocks to flow into the corner blocks as well. Well done!

I’m glad you like. I would love to see the quilt if you get it done.
