Design a quilt that is approximately 60” x 80” in the patriotic colors for your country.
In the United States, there is a charity called Quilts of Valor Foundation, which encourages volunteers to make quilts to be given to service men and women who have seen combat. This is their 10th anniversary year, and they have distributed thousands of quilts. The guideline for the size of these quilts is approximately 60” x 80”.
If you are not in the United States, design a quilt of the same size with your own patriotic colors if you like. The quilt design can be pieced or appliquéd, designed for a man or a woman. Keep the size of the quilt within the recommended limits.
You might decide to create your design in fabric to donate to the QOV Foundation! See www.qovf.org for information on their website.

I have quilted many combat buddies quilts. they are given away at my American Legion Post. Each year we do an honor dinner for a certain war era. Last month we honored our Korean War Veterans, it was also the 60th anniversary of the war. I love doing these dinners. I myself a disabled Air Force Veteran continue to serve my community and country by sewing for those in need and helping with claims. I felt the signature blocks were a great touch, because they can get their friends that they served with to sign their quilt.
