I started with Kaffe Fassett’s fabric prints. I purchased his book ‘Quilt in Sweden’ at the quilt festival in Birmingham but the story of my life goes it got misplaced somewhere thus my play to design a quilt for use with his fabrics I bought. I have resisted using his prints for years no particular reason but due to the popularity. Sometimes I resist what seems to be all the rage which is just a ‘quirk’ habit. I also thought the prints were a fad however while visiting the festival a vendor had a large display of his quilts, fabrics and book on display. The tables and the vendor area was swamped with enthusiastic quilters all wanting to for most of them buy more of his books. One or two use them continually never using anything else. I told myself I’m being foolish not to buy some. They are actually so beautiful. I hope to make a quilt for my granddaughter who is celebrating her Confirmation this year.
