In this second variation the sun is the only non linear element. The flying geese, strips of sunset colored fabrics for the sky and the foreground lake and dark landmass are all pieced. Here the V-formation is formed by a swath of flying geese taking off from the water and joining a swath of geese flying in the sky all heading into the sunset.
In both designs the center panel is bordered by Flying Geese blocks from the EQ7 Auto Borders Library.

The moment I saw this, I immediately thought of the southwest. I really like the linear features of the quilt. There is a lot of interesting things going on here.
