As promised here is BLOCK #3 of our 2011 Block of the Month on our blog. It’s called March Medley.
Deadline for submitting your block picture to webmaster@electricquilt.com for a chance to win is April 1, 2011 8am Eastern.

Use any fabrics you want! Use your favorites! Challenge yourself with a new color scheme! If you have EQ7, you can try out the colors before cutting the fabric for the block.

Sew the block and send your picture to webmaster@electricquilt.com. If you send in the picture, you get one entry for the contest to win a free Blending Photos with Fabric 2 book in April. Each month we’ll have a new prize, so email in a picture of your quilt block to enter. (One entry per person per month.) Pictures will be added to this blog in a Finished Blocks post with your name. A winner will be chosen on April 1, 2011 for March’s block.
Don’t worry about sending a professional photograph. As long as it isn’t on too much of an angle and I can see the whole block and the image is over 400px, I can crop it for the blog.
New block patterns will be posted at the beginning of each month. Winners from the previous month will be chosen at the beginning of each month.
If you would like to be notified when the new pattern is available, you can do any of the following:
1. Subscribe to our newsletter.
2. Fan us on Facebook.
3. Subscribe to RSS feeds of this blog.
Note: These block patterns are for personal use only. Please do not include them in published works.

Hi Andrea,
I don’t know if it is just me or if anyone else is having trouble finding the finished blocks to look at. I have had to hunt and hunt for a link to viewing the blocks. Do you think that you could have a consistent name and location for the link on the BOM blog pages?
Or maybe you could give me the key to finding them.
I hope this doesn’t sound like I’m finding fault. I am really enjoying the fun of this and thank you for all your work and coordinating it and giving us these new blocks.

Thanks Ethel for the suggestion. I made a page on the side. You’ll see a link for “2011 Block of the Month” on the right. Now when you click that link you’ll have the patterns, gallery, and winner information a click away.

I wanted to know if I can use your block of the month blocks for quilts I plan to sell. I do not publish patterns but often make quilts for sale (one of a kind). This blog says the blocks are for personal use only. If these can’t be used for sale quilts is there an easy way to recognize which blocks are only for personal use?
Thanks

Hi Bonnie,
The blocks from the Block of the Month are for personal use only. Please do not use them in patterns you publish.
Blocks from the EQ7 Libraries are copyright-free. Those are blocks from libraries 1-10.
Blocks that are in other libraries that link to EQ7 should be checked on the notecard. They would say “for personal use only”, or copyright, or © somewhere or have someone’s name in the notecard like Judy Martin, Karen Stone, Quiltmaker Magazine, Andrea Bishop, etc.
Most of our copyright information is here: http://www.electricquilt.com/Support/FAQ/copyright.asp
