Welcome to the EQ8 Block Spotlight series! Each month we highlight a block from the EQ8 Block Library with a few design ideas. Then we want YOU to show us what you can do with the block. Let’s get creative!
This month’s block: Stripes Bordered Inside 4
Where to find it: 10 Sashing > Stripes – Bordered
The blocks in this section of the library are designed with sashing in mind, but don’t let that stop you from using these versatile blocks in other ways!
Design ideas to get you started
Wouldn’t this design make an adorable baby quilt? This first quilt is a simple 5 x 5 horizontal layout with the Stripes block set in every space. I used the Symmetry tool to rotate the blocks in this arrangement. The fabrics are from the Harmony collection by Melissa Lee for Riley Blake, which can be found the in the Stash 2021 Download 02 add-on.
It’s never too early to start on holiday sewing, right? My second quilt uses a star layout from the Layout Library and the Stripes block is set in the eight star points. I dare you to find a block that doesn’t look great in this star layout! The fabric in this quilt is from the Hustle and Bustle collection by BasicGrey for Moda (also in the Stash 2021 Download 02 add-on.)
What would you design with the Stripes Bordered Inside 4 block? Post a quilt or two in the comments below. It can be as simple or as complex as you’d like (it just has to use the featured block!).
If you’d like to to turn off the black outlines around the patches like I have in the quilts above, click the Hide/show quilt patch outlines button on the main toolbar before exporting your images. For more help with this feature, visit the Support site.
