Now that things have settled down a little bit, we can take the time to actually enjoy a copy! Take a look!!
The colored blocks are just so fun to look at!!
Not to mention the gorgeous pictures of sewn blocks!

The book is more than I expected. Quite professionally done. My new “go to book” for quilt block knowledge. The colored blocks give an idea of color density and choices. The line drawings, I can copy and color. It’s a great investment!

11:12 am
Love it! The blocks are beautifully drawn and illustrated and I like the grid version addition as well

I like the colored block illustrations and how clear the illustrations are. The only thing that would be better is if it were hardcover.

Love this book. One of the first things I did after going page by page through the book, I spiral bound my book. I do this with all of my quilt books and most of my cookbooks. By doing this I don’t have to worry about pages going missing after a long time of flattening the book. I have the spiral binding machine here at home and I have a band saw to cut off the binding, I also add three pages of card stock paper to the front cover and the back cover. Use packing tape to keep the cover and card stock together.

11:41 am
I’m so glad you did that! I was thinking about it. I’ll have to ask about making the cover heavier when I get it done.
12-06-2020
12:07 pm
If you have it spiral bound at someplace like Staples they can put clear plastic covers on the front and back.

Saving it for Christmas. Can’t wait to unwrap it

I would prefer hardback as it is called an encyclopedia. The content is excellent.
12-06-2020
11:40 am
I was surprised that it wasn’t hardback too, but I’m glad it wasn’t. I might have it spiral bound.

The encyclopedia is filled with beautiful pictures and the possibility to create hundreds of quilts. It is a great purchase, and I plan to order the Block Base program soon. I was thrilled to see that the program will also work in conjunction with my Cameo Silhouette. I’m getting EQ8 for Christmas, and I can’t wait to play and create.

I recommend something when you get your EQ8 software. Go to ‘onpointquilter.com’ and enroll in the classes that Kari Shell offers for EQ users beginners to “experts” and everyone in between. I have had my EQ8 software for quite a while but never really understood how it worked. After I joined Kari in her classes I have learned more than I could ever have dreamed!!!!! There is a VERY GOOD introductory series of lessons called “Shoot for the Stars” that I found extremely helpful. There is a fee for the classes ($36) for each set of 13 lessons. You get the video as well as the printable instructions. You can keep all of the classes forever. I have created a folder on my computer for both formats. Kari gives instructions on how to save all of the lesson emails in Excel spreadsheet form. CHECK IT OUT!!!!!

Love this newer version!!! I have the black and white one, but ordered the latest edition because reading in color is much more enjoyable. The format and information is excellent! Can’t wait until the software is available in 2021.
Great Job Electric Quilt!!!

It’s a great volume. I had the first edition and used it for identifying blocks. I also used it to make some quilts. Browsing through the book, I can’t wait to get the Block Base program and start creating some of the more intricate blocks into a quilt. Barbara Brackman and EQ have done it again!!

I don’t get mine for another 19 days! Looking forward to it, and I love Barbara Brackman!

Yes, It is more than I expected and I am so happy to finally get a copy. Years ago I bought Blockbase alone and always wished I had bought the encyclopedia. I am so excited!!!

I wanted one, was looking at it to make the purchase online. My wife seen, and said to not buy it as she may have already gotten me one for Christmas. I said OK, but cannot see it until I open my gifts on December 25th. I’m trying to be patient, I really am.
12-06-2020
12:07 pm
Spent an evening skimming through it and now can’t wait for the software to come out.

12:13 pm
I’m very pleased with this new edition and I’m impatient for the new version of the software. Having the colorful blocks and the line drawings along side them is very valuable in understanding the block construction. Being able to place those blocks in EQ8 quilt designs with the myriad of arrangements available is going to be of great value to quilt dedigners and home quilt makers alike. It’s a true treasure trove.

I love the new edition with the colored pictures. I wish it was a hard bound though like the previous editions.

Quilters’ Gold! This book is a “must have” on every serious quilter’s bookshelf. It is beautifully illustrated and categorized. With EQ8 and Blockbase, both historical reproductions and newly created quilts are within reach. I can’t wait to play with color and layout. Meanwhile I will have hours of pleasure just perusing the book and dreaming … and planning.

Mine came. I love it as much as I thought I would. The old one is well used but now has to take a back seat to the new one. Thank you EQ for having the idea to create this beautiful reference.

2:37 pm
Yes, the encyclopedia arrived and it is wonderful. I breezed through it almost as soon as it came in the door. After supper, I spent the rest of the evening with it. There is so much to look at and take in. It will be one of those publications to which you return time after time looking for information and ideas. Love it. Thank you.

2:39 pm
Love it. Easily found a block I had been searching for.
12-06-2020
3:25 pm
Well, I did already send a thank you note it was so wonderful lol…
But officially, I want to acknowledge the amount of scholarly work and beautiful printing that went into this tome! It’s a big ol’ baby but a beautiful one at that. Lots of great information, diagrams and more. I wax nostalgic over it, since when I was a kid, the Kansas City Star used to run a quilt block column on the comics pages. I find lots of those very same blocks in this book. Currently I would consider myself a “modern” quilter/Art quilter but there is no love lost when I look at these thousands of blocks. They are inspirational as well as informative about the creators and the life at that time. Love it. I think it’s the perfect addition to any quilter, fabric designer, sewist, beginner or artisan’s bookshelf.

I LOVE the book and also cannot wait for Block Base to come out. Thank you, thank you, Thank you!!!

I purchased the Encyclopedia during the pre-order period. Never received it.
As a matter or principle I will not be purchase the Encyclopedia at full price.
Sorry, but as far as I’m concerned you ran a “come-on” false advertising campaign.

7:49 pm
Strange, did you receive confirmation? The pre-orders are still arriving, so hold on. Contact the seller for more info on your order.

10:45 am
Hi Frank,
Our database shows no orders of the Encyclopedia for you. Perhaps you didn’t complete the purchase by accident? If you placed an order, you would have gotten a confirmation email. Write to customerservice(at)electricquilt.com if you’d like to pursue this. They’d be happy to help! Otherwise, watch for another sale coming soon!
12-07-2020
2:31 pm
Frank check your bank or whatever payment service you used (Paypal, Google Pay, Apple Pay, etc.) to see if a charge posted. If you don’t see a charge the order did not complete. I have had this happen in the past with other vendors- thought I placed the order but never saw a payment complete page. Sometimes the browser will jut not cooperate as well, and you have to try another browser. Just had that happen while trying to pay my credit card- Firfeox was blocking the final payment page from opening.

I received my copy last week and could hardly wait to peruse it. Taking the time to really examine each page I was encouraged to make a lot of quilts, table toppers, pillows and other goodies. It is a great book and you can see the work that went into making the original lists and the organization involved. The work is fantastic. Thank you for sharing the opportunity to own a copy of this “must have” book.

I love this book. It is definitely going to be my go to book for finding blocks I want to use in my projects. Also love that I can use my EQ8 software to access my block choices.
12-06-2020
7:54 pm
I have received mine and was happy to see that all three of the blocks which I submitted where published in the book. My previous employer, who was instrumental in my experiences in the quilting world also received the one that I sent her and she loves it. I know that it will give us hours of enjoyment.

I have received the book but haven’t opened it as it is a Christmas present from my hubby and he would be disappointed if I didn’t have a present to open on Christmas. Men are little boys at heart, I guess. I am certainly looking forward to the time I will spend enjoying reading it. My daughter and I will spend hours going through all the patterns and learning new things.

I was disappointed that it wasn’t a hardcover as I have the original which was done by AQS. It is a hardcover. The difference between them goes farther than than the hardcover. EQ did beautiful renditions of the blocks in color. My original is in black and white and definitely unimpressive and 27 years old. All things considered, EQ did a much better job.
12-06-2020
10:04 pm
Really like blocks, paper weight is good, color great. I’m considering a trip to Staples to have it spiral bound so the pages will lay flat and will have clear plastic pages added to front & back. Still considering is I’ll buy Blockbase.

10:20 pm
Received my book last week. It is so much more than expected! My old hardcover version shows the many miles it has traveled and was due for retirement.

12:29 am
I received my Encyclopedia much earlier than expected, what a happy surprise! I opened it straight away, and was so impressed. I’m probably going to have mine spiral bound, and have the cover laminated, because I intend to use it a lot! I think I NEED the new Blockbase as well. Thank you so much for such a lovely book!

This updated version of Barbara Brackman’s Encyclopedia is wonderful. The drawings and layout are clearer and cleaner than the first edition. Much easier to read! and study! Thank you.
I look forward to the new Blockbase.

Yep eh doodle, got mine. Spent the next 3 days looking through mine. It will take up residence in my craft/sewing room, where it will be just one turn away for referencing.
I have thought for years that this is something that was sorely needed. I actually, had started to research blocks. I suddenly discovered how vast and diverse the subject is. I have the highest respect and gratitude for the author! If she isn’t working on volume 2, I hope that she will soon start. After all, success can’t keep you down. I should inspire us to move on.
Thanks, for this magnificent book.

12:39 pm
I love the book. I have flipped through the pages several times and decided to make a block from time to time. Now, I waiting on the information from EQ on how to get the information for EQ8 that was promised to go along with the book.
12-07-2020
12:42 pm
Hi Barbara, what information are you referring to? There’s a bonus PDF that’s in your EQ Account in the My Downloads section. That was mentioned on the “Free Gift” tab here: https://electricquilt.com/online-shop/encyclopedia-of-pieced-quilt-patterns/#tab-Free%20Gift
12-07-2020
2:46 pm
What a great reference this is going to be. I also have Jinny Beyer’s massive block encyclopedia but the fabric renderings are rather complicated so I think the simpler, more straightforward color renditions in this book might be even more useful. As others have already mentioned I may look into binding the book for ease of laying it flat.

5:36 pm
I would just love to have this book. Do you have a distributer in Canada?
12-08-2020

Hi Tammara, we do have 2 distributors who sell to Canadian stores. Call your local shops and ask for the book!

I received my copy of Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns and it’s absolutely gorgeous in every way. I have the 1993 hardcover printed by AQS and have loved it and used it frequently for years. This new and improved version by Electric Quilt Co is just amazing! So much improvement! Thank you!!

I received my book last week. I own the previous version of the book but didn’t use it that often. This new version is beautiful and I can see myself referring to it much more than I did with the previous one.

The book is beautifully illustrated; didn’t realize there were so many blocks; can hardly wait for the software and since I ordered early 40% discount is a great deal. Already wanting to make a quilt with Block 2909 shown in more detail on page 474 (small one on the cover).

11:38 am
I got my Encyclopedia today and I’m so excited! I have only had a few minutes to flip through but it’s absolutely full of great information. I never had the original version so this is my first experience with it and I’m impressed. I have a question about the Block Base program. My husband bought the book for me as a Christmas gift. So it would be a surprise he created a new EQ8 account for himself. If we purchase the block base package through his account to get the software at the discount will I be able to use it with my EQ8 program? I’m hopeful that once it’s downloaded to the same computer I can use it but don’t want to spend the money until I know for sure. I’d love to be able to use the Block Base to accompany the Encyclopedia. Thank you and Merry Christmas!
12-28-2020
10:40 am
Hi Kim, glad you love the Encyclopedia! Assuming your husband bought the Encyclopedia during our pre-order period (10/1-11/24), then yes, his account has the discount for BlockBase+ in it, and you can log in to his when purchasing BlockBase+ to get the discount and then use it with your EQ8. Then, after that, we can merge your accounts for you so all your downloads are in one place. Please contact Customer Service at that time.

I received the encyclopedia when it first came out and have been using it to design some same table toppers. I am excited about having it in my EQ8 and can’t wait to use it. I already own the previous version and use it often. Thank you for the chance to win one.
