I buy most of my quilting notions at JoAnns. And then some online, according how quick I need them. The closest quilting shop to me as about 25-30 miles away.
I thank you for the opportunity for this win. I would love to have an EQ, my hesitation is spending that kind of money and not being able to learn to use it. The ladies sharing their knowledge for in celebration is definitely making me feel more positive that I could do this. Each month I’m gleaning education and desire to purchase this. But of course I would rather win it.
Thanks again

9:58 am
Over the years I have acquired notions from many places, online, quilt stores, chain strores, etc. Now when I see a new project with a special ruler or some other notions required, I am prone to get everything to finish the project when purchasing. Many quilts, wall hangings, bags, etc, have the items needed to finish the project. It makes me feel as though I can start and not have to look for another item to work on for what I am interested in at the time. Saves time, running around and keeps me in the creative spirit.
07-10-2016
9:58 am
I buy mostly online. The choice of fabric stores where I live is very limited and their supplies are even more limited.
Now that I am retired I have been doing so much more sewing. It is my happy place.
Thank you

10:00 am
I usully buy my notions at a local sewing shop. But I also like to buy them from vendors at quilt shows.
07-10-2016
10:00 am
I usually buy notions online. As a working girl, most quilt shops are closed when I have time to shop, so online has been the best solution. Find it really gives you more information about the tool/ruler than the packaging, and I always read the reviews for the pros and cons. So now, even if I will get to purchase in person, I go online to check it out first.
07-10-2016
10:00 am

Most of my notions I get online as we don’t have a good haberdashery close by. There’s a large store called Abakhan in the next city but that’s still over two hours taken getting there and back and doing a bit of shopping in there. I’m in the U.K.
07-10-2016

07-10-2016
10:03 am
I buy from local quilt shops, Creative Sewing Festival and Quilt Canada.
07-10-2016
10:04 am
I have to buy most of my stuff online, as there isn’t a good haberdashery near by. There are a couple of small ones, who I do try to support but the nearest large store is in Liverpool, which is at least half an hour away, so it takes a chunk out of my day getting there and back and shopping and often I just don’t have that time.
07-10-2016

07-10-2016

Generally I get my “normal” things like pins & marking pencils from my LQS, Web Fabric. Thread and needles come from Superior Threads. If it something specific to a task, I generally purchase it from the website… then of course, there are quilt shows and a ton of notions I didn’t know I “needed” until I saw them and they come home with me!!

07-10-2016
4:52 pm
I much prefer buying from my LQS–not only doing my part in keeping them in business but usually learning more about the item than I would if I bought it elsewhere. It’s more enjoyable shopping in person! But if I can’t find it there I’ll usually shop online–Nancy’s Notions, Amazon, the manufacturer, designer, etc.
07-10-2016
4:55 pm
I buy at various places. Sometimes JoAnn’s because of their prices but variety is limited, sometime LQS because they have a good variety that I can’t find other places and sometimes from on-line resources if I’m in no hurry or can’t find an item locally.

Ordinary notions I often buy at JoAnns because they have coupons that make prices reasonable. That saves me money for more specialized quilting notions that I find at LQSs. Also, the annual shop hop here lets me get to other shops within 100+ miles. I KNOW they will have wonderful notions, so I save up and am seldom disappointed. Lastly, I will rarely but sometimes resort to online purchases of locally unavailable notions if I am certain of either the product by observation somewhere or the manufacturer by prior experience with their products.

If there is something specific I need asap, and I know my nearby (60 miles) jolt shop will have it, I make the trip. Me I stop at hilt shops when I travel, including one recently in Mora, Sweden!

07-10-2016
5:31 pm
I buy my quilting notions sveral ways, mdepending on whether I’m going out to where stores are, or not. My oreference is to go to LQS’s, as much as possible, but since we do not live close to any of them, it becomes a project. In that case, I order them on-line, which may take a little longer, but it works. For something simple, like some threads, I go to a local store, which is a tiny bit closer.

07-10-2016
7:13 pm
I buy quilting notions in a variety of places. For basic supplies I usually buy from my local fabric store, for specialty rulers and long arm supplies such as thread I usually purchase on line. I always have a wish list of supplies I need and when we travel I keep an eye out for those things I need and a few that I don’t really need but would really like to have.
07-10-2016
7:13 pm
I shop sales at JoAnns & with coupons and use my local quilt shop for items JoAnns doesn’t carry. My thread is almost exclusively bought online from Connecting Threads.
07-10-2016
7:17 pm
I usually buy my notions at JoAnn’s or Wal-Mart but always find something I just can’t live without at quilt shows. I do a lot of fabric buys off the internet as it seems to be cheaper and I don’t have a quilt show right next door. Ha!
07-10-2016
7:17 pm
I mostly buy my notions at the LQS or online.
07-10-2016
7:18 pm

Most of mine I buy online. That way I can find more things that I didn’t know existed!!! I also buy a fair bit locally and at Craft/Quilt fairs that I get to attend.
07-10-2016
7:27 pm
I buy most notions from Joanns. When I take a class at a Quilt Shop, I am more likely to buy reasonably priced notions from the Shop. Hard to find or new notions I can usually find and buy at Quilt Shows.
07-10-2016
7:28 pm
I buy my notions from many sources. JoAnn’s, Walmart and similar chains are useful for last minute items. But I prefer local quilt shops like Four Seasons Fabrics in Yankton, SD or similar stores in Sioux Falls, SD or Sioux City, IA.
07-10-2016
7:30 pm
I try to purchase notions at the local quilt shop. If I need them soon, I purchase there. If not, I’ll purchase them online.
07-10-2016
7:33 pm
I mostly buy my supplies at Joann Fabrics, since it is the only fabric store in our town. However, when I get out of town, I like to stop at Hobby Lobby or specialty stores have sewing supplies and fabrics. When all else fails I buy them online.
07-10-2016
7:34 pm
Since my LQS closed I mostly buy online. I think I have every notion made. Lol
07-10-2016
7:37 pm
I try to buy most of the time at my LQS, but go direct to thread manufacturers as well as Amazon for things that I can’t obtain locally. Joanns isn’t nearby so that isn’t really an option for me.
07-10-2016
7:38 pm
Joann Fabrics or local quilt shop…The Quilt Merchant in Winfield IL. Truth is, I don’t need to buy much because I already have so many of the things I need on hand. But even with a large stash, you still need to stick up on thread now and then!
07-10-2016
7:40 pm

I buy my sewing/quilting notions anywhere I find what I want or need. I use local quilt shops and JoAnn’s, but also when I go to a quilt show, I love to buy from the vendor, especially if it is their product. It is interesting to talk with the creator/developer of a new, useful product.
07-10-2016

I am a “gadget kind of quilter!” I love tools. Just like a carpenter, who must have the right tools for the right job. That’s the way I feel about quilting, especially the rotary cutting and of course the sewing, quilting, the Right Fabric, basically the entire aspect of quilting. So when I see new tools or hear about them I start looking. I ask the quilt shop, where I work part-time, if they will bring in the “newest tools.” Sometimes when the owners come back from Quilt Market in Houston, they will hand me a “goodie” bag of new tools and ask me to “test drive” them. In support of my local shops, I try to purchase all my tools at the local quilt shops. Purchasing on-line is ok for quilt tools, but I need to test drive before I decide. I just love all my tools and my students are jealous of my tools box, adn I make sure that they too get to “test drive” the latest and greatest tools!

7:52 pm
Quilt shops, online or at a craft store. Where ever I find what I want.
07-10-2016
7:53 pm
I live in rural Alaska and we have very few stores to buy notions, if any. So I buy most of them via the internet. It sometimes gets quite interesting as what you thought you ordered is not what you receive. As it is too expensive to send them back, you keep them, and eventually find some use for them, or pass them on to someone else…..then they can figure out how to use it.
07-10-2016
7:53 pm
I purchase from my local Quilt Shop, Tater Patch Quilts in Merril, Oregon. If they don’t have it and can’t get it, then I do and o
nline search. For anything EQ, I always purchase from the EQ7 Site.
