My favorite at this moment in time is “Lotta Love by Trish H”. I am fascinated with the Storm at Sea blocks, and the myriad of ways that color can completely change the look and pattern of the quilt. I think that’s what makes EQ such a great program – you can “try out” various colors and patterns to make the quilt uniquely yours without wasting any of your stash! Double points for making a quilt using a block everyone knows and, because of the play with colors, having them be surprised when they discover that block in the quilt.

When I was small I had a quilt my Great Grandmother had made. It was a 1930′s pink and white modified Irish Chain. That is the quilt that made me want to learn to quilt. I remember my Great Grandma telling me that whenever I was sad, lonely, or didn’t feel well, to wrap myself up in that quilt and know that she was hugging me. It was a tangible reminder of her love for me. That quilt will always be my favorite.

I like Rocky Mountain High by Barbara Langbauer, and I think she’s given me a clue to more random placement–now I’ll investigate custom design setting! Also like Dot to Dot Quilt by Kevin Kosbab for the colors, but he said he used EQ6.
What a swell question, so we are reminded of the Gallery. Also, wouldn’t it be terrific if our real-world colors were always so brilliant and stunning as they are in EQ7? Of course, a bed quilt might just vibrate off the bed if the colors were that bright.

06-10-2016
7:18 pm
The stunning colors in this Aurifil collection will please quilters and machine embroiderers. I love to use thread that matches my fabric instead of relying on neutrals all the time. It gives me a lift just to sew with it even if, on the end result, you can’t see the thread color. When you can see it, with top stitching or other embellishment, the thread can be a wow for the whole piece.
06-10-2016

Jacobean Journey by Annie Moody — WOW, what a quilt! A real testament to quilting skill. I would bet that this became a winner in a quilting contest somewhere because the craftsmanship is just extraordinary. As a quilter who loves to design, and who enjoys complicated quilting, but is only just getting the hang of it all in EQ7, all I can say is, “I am not worthy!”. Just a beautiful quilt that will no doubt be passed down as an heirloom for whomever owns it in the future.
06-10-2016
7:29 pm

My favorite quilt is Dove of Peace by Jo Moury. That is such a difficult quilt to design on software, and EQ makes it possible. The results are spectacular! I have not used EQ to create custom set quilts very often, but I can see that I will have to set up my game. The payoff is enormous – the ability to play with color choices and design choices cannot be matched with any other tool I’ve found!
06-10-2016

I like “Under the Sea”… simple but pleasing in a horizontal format. Great for a wall hanging or extended for a bed runner.

There are so many to choose from. Snowmen, quilts of valor, of which I plan on making for our granddaughter who is serving in Iraq right now. My choice for this is Dove of Peace. It is peaceful, challenging and will make a great gift.

The Congregation of Poppies by Andrea Bishop is my favorite. It commemorates WW1 soldiers particularly those from Newfoundland that fought at Beaumont Hamel, where many had lost their lives.

There were so many spectacular quilts to chose from, but I will chose Sonprang By Pauline van der Vyver. The fantastic color combinations she chose were the final reason I chose her quilt; they were really vibrant and just spectacular! Thank you for the opportunity to win this wonderful prize! Have a fantastic creative day!
