Kimberly Einmo has published a new book! Modern Quilts and More  includes moderns quilts with traditional construction methods. Over a dozen of Kimberly’s original designs are included along with sections devoted to increasing your skills. The book also has quick and easy projects to use leftover fabrics in creative new ways. And we are giving one away! (keep reading for details)

Kimberly is a longtime EQ user. She says, “I’ve used EQ since version 3, and was hooked from the first time I tried it. I found it so easy to use and very intuitive to the user. Using the software helped my creativity take flight because I found that if I could dream up a design or a design idea in my head, I could make it come to life using EQ. I have loved using – and growing – with each version of the software and am now using EQ7 / Stitch. I just love the endless creative possibilities! In fact, I think it would be so much harder to design quilts without using EQ!

My first book was published in 2005 by the American Quilter’s Society and of course I used EQ to design every quilt in the book. In fact, since I began using EQ, I haven’t made a quilt without having first designed and planned it in EQ software! My fifth book (all published by AQS) was just released and every quilt I have designed or made for my books, magazine features and Craftsy classes have all been designed using EQ. I use BlockBase in tandem with EQ all the time. Quite often, I’ll peruse the block libraries until several blocks catch my eye and then I’ll begin by using them, making changes until I get the pattern and color or fabric placement exactly how I envision it in my mind’s eye. Many times I’ll end up changing the blocks just a bit to make them uniquely my own, but I love the flexibility EQ provides me to do this. One of the features I use often and love is the yardage calculator; it is very accurate and really helps me when I’m writing my patterns and figuring yardage amounts!”

Here are a few of Kimberly’s quilts. The EQ versions and the fabric ones too!

Orange Zest
Modern T’s
Zig Zag Stars
Daises

The quilts look great! And almost identical to the EQ7 versions! You can read more about her on her site, Kimberlyeinmo.com.
