I’ve wanted to make a Winding Ways quilt for quite some time, and I finally got around to it. I used Nancy Elliott MacDonald’s book and method and found them very helpful. Online I found swatches of the fabrics I wanted to use, so I imported them into EQ7 and worked out how I thought the quilt should look. The piecing went well, and I knew exactly how I wanted to quilt it, but I was really nervous about how I’d be able to manage such a large quilt in my home sewing machine, so I gave it to a good friend (Gerda Hanson) to do on her longarm. I told her what I’d had in mind, and she adapted my ideas to what would work better for her. I couldn’t get a photo of the quilt until we had our local show, which opened today; my house is too small to be able to photograph it except on the bed! <G> So here’s the quilt [that won a] blue ribbon, though unfortunately, the bottom of it is curled under on the floor.
