The Gift of Giving

The Electric Quilt Company is a pretty small group and many of us crossover in our job duties. Whenever we would pass around a greeting card for all the employees to sign, Jan would always sign the card as “Jan-In Shipping” as if we could possibly be confused by any other “Jan.” Jan is a chatterbox of energy in our office who keeps us all in stitches (no pun intended) with her quick-witted one-liners or her Pig Latin conversations with Heidi. If you’ve ever called the “sales” line at Electric Quilt, you may have spoken with Jan. Jan lives just around the block from me and her daughters and my sons attended the same elementary school, junior high and high school. We attended school events together, chaperoned proms and so on for years. I think you’re a lucky person if you have friends at work who are also friends outside

Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Blog Tour

Posted 11-20-2014 by | Posted in: Favorite Posts

Hello and welcome to my stop on the 100 Blocks Blog Tour! It’s the 10th volume, which means they’ve hit 1000 blocks in this fantastic series. I’m so excited to be a part of it! Here’s my block, #927 Spinning Stripes: My block was also used in the Stellar Sampler quilt on page 8. You can see it right there next to Carolyn on the Editor page! I just love it in those beautiful batiks! Spinning Stripes is made up of the same foundation-pieced unit repeated and rotated around. If you rotate the unit differently, you can get some other fun results! As I’ve been following along with the blog tour, I’ve noticed many fellow EQ7 users! You should definitely check them out: Doris Rice of The Quilting Queen Online Pat Harrison of Ocean Waves Quilting Denise Russart of Justquiltin Corey Yoder of Little Miss Shabby Beth Helfter of Quilting

Look at that cutie in the new issue of Quiltmaker! That’s my son and he’s making an appearance in the Creative Spark article in the November/December 2014 issue! We’re talking about using EQ7 to design pieced Christmas stockings. Click over to Quiltmaker’s site to read the accompanying EQ7 lesson. You can apply the same idea to lots of different irregular shaped patchwork projects- like purse panels and clothing patterns.
