Creative Spark: Quiltmaker July/Aug ’15

Posted 07-15-2015 by | Posted in: EQ News and Press Favorite Posts

One block can offer a variety of different looks, all depending on the layout it’s placed in. That’s the topic of the newest Creative Spark article in the July/August issue of Quiltmaker. Using the block from Deborah Johnson’s Fresh Fleurs quilt (p. 22), I created some fun design variations in EQ7: Hard to believe that the four quilts above all use the same, simple block! To get the details on how to make these layouts, check out the companion EQ7 lesson for the article on Quiltmaker’s site: One Block, Lots of Layouts!

Marlene Howe’s Tribute Quilt

Posted 06-24-2015 by | Posted in: Favorite Posts From Our Users Look What I Did

Marlene Howe was an early EQ user, and sales rep who demonstrated and sold EQ when the company was just starting. She recently created a quilt paying tribute to the many quilt teachers she’s had over the years. She included EQ in this very special quilt and we’re so honored to be a part of it! Here’s a close-up of her EQ block. We love it! On the back of the quilt, she included the story of each block/teacher. In her story about Electric Quilt, Marlene writes that she bought her first computer just to be able to use the software. What a lovely way to document your special quilting memories. A very special thank you to Marlene for allowing us to share this wonderful quilt!

EQ: Before we discuss the quilt and your design techniques, tell us about yourself!
