Happy Valentine’s Day!

Here is a Valentine’s Day bouquet quilt! You can download the EQ7 file here. Here is how I made it: I clicked Libraries > Block Libraries > Search > by Category > I selected “Applique” and “Flowers”. I added the following blocks to my sketchbook. I like “Rose in Bloom” but I wanted to use it without the leaves. So, I clicked Worktable > Work on Block > View Sketchbook > click on Rose in Bloom > Edit. Make sure you are on the applique tab. Use the Pick tool to select the leaves and then hit the delete key on your keyboard. Select the whole rose and copy. Click Block > New Block > PatchDraw Motif > Paste > Add to Sketchbook Besides deleting leaves, I did the same steps with the pink Zinnia block. The red carnation is already a motif so I didn’t edit that one. Then

Easy Peasy Valentine’s Day Project!

Posted 02-01-2014 by | Posted in: Downloads Heidi Finds

This Valentine’s Day project is so simple it could be made into many different things…a bag, place mats, pillows, whatever! To import photos into EQ7: Click Libraries > Photo Library > Import > from Image Files > locate on your computer > open > Add to Sketchbook > Close. For the photo to set in the block like in the examples it’s actually better to import them as fabric. To import fabric into EQ7: Click Libraries > Fabric Library > Import > from Image Files > locate on your computer > open > Add to Sketchbook > Close. For more information on how to draw silhouettes check out this post. Don’t forget the EQ Printable Fabric! Download the EQ7 project here. If this inspires you to make something, let us know! Family Tree Quilt in Modern Quilts Unlimited magazine

Posted 01-29-2014 by | Posted in: Downloads EQ News and Press

In the Winter 2014 issue of Modern Quilts Unlimited I have an article about making a modern family tree quilt, using EQ7, of course. I drew all the blocks, I scanned in photos of my family and put them all in the quilt. The article also talks about editing photos right in EQ7, drawing silhouettes, importing fabrics and much more. There is a Web Extra that explains, step-by-step on Modern Quilt’s Unlimited site on how to make this quilt here. You can also download the EQ7 project. It does accompany the article though, so be sure to get the magazine!
