Posted 10-01-2020 by | Posted in: Congratulations

As always, we received so many beautiful entries in the Illuminations challenge! (See them in the original post here.) Thanks to everyone for participating! Winners There are two winners for this challenge; both selected randomly.  Each will receive a bundle of the Illuminations fabrics – YAY!! Congratulations to….. Donna Royson “Using the 54-40-or fight block as guidance, I designed this quilt but had some challenges with needing the borders to complete the secondary pattern of circles. The block is 12″ containing (9) 4″ units. For the first border, and to complete the circle, I only needed half of the 4″. So, I created two borders with width of 2″ each. The first border is defined as Blocks and I was able to insert the proper blocks to complete the circle. It was quite a challenge but well worth the trouble!”  Judy Knesel “I created about 20 different designs with this fabric

I think it modernizes the traditional quilt.”     Again, you can see all the fabulous entries in the original

Winners Riley Blake Designs couldn’t narrow it to just one, so they chose THREE winners! That means three lucky designers will receive a bundle of the Pin Drop fabrics – YAY!! Congratulations to the following people… Kim W: “My entry is called “Prismatic Pin Drop.” I was struck by how the prints in this collection, especially on the darker colors, look a bit like stars in the night sky, so I was inspired to do a star theme. Also, the thin points of these stars are a little like pins! There is no curved piecing in this pattern; the illusion of curves comes from the half square triangles meeting the triangle in a square blocks. The use of a pieced border allows the design to continue out

Claire K:     Claire’s submission: When I saw the fabrics I thought of Barns and Spring.     Jo Moury:     Jo’s submission: Quilting and gardening are two of my favorite activities. Often I think of this little poem when I am out playing with my flowers. “A kiss of the sun for pardon, the song of the bird for mirth, One is closer to God in a garden than anywhere else on earth”. I totally love this fabric collection. In my little quilt I used a couple of the seed packets from the panel and drew applique shapes similar to Cherry’s fabric motifs to depict the flowers or veggies growing in my
