Welcome to the EQ8 Block Spotlight series! Each month we highlight a block from the EQ8 Block Library with a few design ideas. Then we want you to show us what you can do with the block. :-)

This month is a little different—you have three blocks to choose from! Pick from one of the snowflake blocks below (or use them all!).

This month’s block: Snowflake 1, 2, or 3!

Where to find them: 05 Contemporary Applique > Season-Winter

Design ideas to get you started

I used all three applique blocks in the border of my first design. Because the border has such complex blocks, I kept the center blocks simple to piece and used two blocks from the 01 Classic Pieced > Diamond in a Square section of the library.

For my second quilt, I used the Stars-19 layout from the Layouts by Style > Stars section of the Layout Library. I set two of the Snowflake blocks in the square spaces of the layout, then just colored the remaining spaces with fabrics. With a little bit of editing, this would make an awesome tree skirt design too! Interested in designing your own tree skirt in EQ8? Check out this Design & Discover lesson.

What would you design with the Snowflake block(s)? Post a quilt or two in the comments below. It can be as simple or as complex as you’d like (it just has to use the featured block!).
