Welcome to the EQ8 Block Spotlight series! Each month we highlight a block from the EQ8 Block Library with a few design ideas. Then we want you to show us what you can do with the block. We hope these posts will inspire you to try something new and expand your EQ skills! :-)

This month’s block: Hearts & Sunflowers

Where to find it: 04 Classic Applique > Eight Elements

Design ideas to get you started

My first quilt uses a simple on-point layout. I made a wider sashing and used a block from the 10 Sashing > Star Sashing section of the library to create the stars at the cornerstones. I also copied one of the hearts from the Hearts & Sunflowers block to make a single-heart block to set in the cornerstones.

This next design was created by using the WreathMaker feature multiple times on different elements of the original block. The basic Hearts & Sunflowers block is at the center of the design.

What would you design with the Hearts & Sunflowers block? Post a quilt or two in the comments below. It can be as simple or as complex as you’d like (it just has to use the featured block!).
