Welcome to the EQ8 Block Spotlight series! Each month we highlight a block from the EQ8 Block Library with a few design ideas. Then we want YOU to show us what you can do with the block. Let’s get creative!

This month’s block: Sunburst and Mills

Where to find it: 01 Classic Pieced > Lone Stars

A few design ideas to get you started

It’s December, so I had to do a Christmas quilt, right? ;-) I colored the block to accentuate the pinwheels in the corners. The holly and berries motif is set on Layer 2 for the border.

My second quilt was created using a Custom Set layout. I offset the blocks so I could set a square-in-a-square block to line up with the flying geese in the corners of the Sunburst block. I used one of my all-time favorite collections, Terrain by Kate Spain, to color the quilt. I only have the tiniest scraps left, so this quilt will remain a digital dream!

What would you design with the Sunburst and Mills block? Post a quilt or two in the comments below. It can be as simple or as complex as you’d like (it just has to use the featured block!).

If you’d like to to turn off the black outlines around the patches like I have in the quilts above, click the Hide/show quilt patch outlines button on the main toolbar before exporting your images. For more help with this feature, visit the Support site.
