The Paintbrush Tool
The Paintbrush tool has five different styles available. Use any of these to color your quilt with fabrics or colors. To see all tool styles, click and hold down the mouse button directly on the Paintbrush tool. A flyout menu will display.
OR, you can use them on the Precision Bar, as well.
1. Click directly on the fabric in the palette to select it.
2. Click on a patch in the quilt. OR, click, hold and drag the fabric from the palette to the quilt. Release the mouse to drop the fabric on the patch.
CTRL+click colors the same patch of that color in all the matching blocks. (Layer 1 or 2).
ALT+click colors the same patch of that color in alternate matching blocks (Layer 1 only).
Other Brush Styles
1. Click directly on the fabric in the palette to select it.
2. Click, hold and drag on the quilt. You’ll see a “paint line” showing which patches are being touched.
3. Release the mouse. The patches touched with the paint line will be colored.
Freehand brush – paints a freehand line
Line brush – paints a straight line
Rectangle brush – paints a rectangular outline
Oval brush – paints an oval outline
Note: CTRL+click and ALT+click only work with the One Dot Brush.
If you’d like a reminder of this and other tools in EQ7, check out the Display Dynamic Help tool.

This is so helpful. Thank you so much for the “Tool Tip”. Makes it so much less tedious to color the quilt.
