The center block in this medallion quilt was one of the twelve blocks chosen to be in Sharon Pederson’s Roses of Remembrance quilt.  Sharon asked each of us to only tell a few of our close friends.  I shared the news with a close friend who retired from teaching special needs children this spring.  My husband asked me to make her a retirement quilt, and then he added several add-ons.  Could it be an original design? “Yes” Could it be in her favorite color, yellow?  “sure” Could it have some appliqué?  “OK”   Oh, could it have my winning block in it??? “well I guess so”.  I enlarged the block to 24″ and then played with the Points Out border and added a couple others to complete the design.  I got to present the quilt this fall at an invitational quilt show.  Our friend truly loved her quilt, but I’m suffering from Separation Anxiety
