Star Flower Medallion was my creation from a challenge presented by Joen Wolfrom to a number of her quilting pals. I was included in this elite group because I was sewing quilts for her new book at the time. The challenge was to use only the colors in a nature photo she provided and design a quilt around it. The photo she sent to me was an intentionally blurred pic of a foxglove in full bloom. This 28″ square quilt appears in Joen’s book, “Visual Coloring”. The center is turned-edge machine appliqué set on top of a diamond-pieced background. It is circled with a pink corded piping over a purple flange. The piano keys are fused and machine-stitched applique.  It is entirely quilted in the ditch around each applique piece.  I had planned to add more quilting on the background areas but never got around to it.
