Patchkat’s Kat was made for a fall wallhanging mini swap on the Quilting Gallery website.  It was a “secret” swap where you are assigned one of the participants to make a mini quilt for on a fall theme between 12″ square and 24″ square, but you don’t know who is making one for you until it arrives in your mailbox.  Out of  80+ participants, my random assigned person was actually my dear friend Susan (who goes by Patchkat – hence the quilt name) from another state, the only one out of the participants I personally knew so a very fun coincidence.  She was coveting the mini quilt when she saw the photo on my blog not knowing it would arrive at her house in a day or two. The cat came from an EQ library block where I removed the ball it was playing with and substituted the leaf motifs.  In the final quilt I decided it needed a scrappy border since Susan loves scrappy so added the border of hand dyeds.  The kat fabric, tho hard to tell from the photo, has little motifs that remind me of quilt block designs so it was perfect. It was designed, made and quilted by me.  And yes, Susan was very happy when Patchkat showed up at her house!
