I started this quilt over 14 months ago. I hand appliqued the sunflowers and leaves block first. I then outlined the flowers and leaves with decorative cotton thread using a triple straight stitch and hand painted the flowers for highlights. In the logs of the log cabin, I used a circle stitch and then painted the inside of the circles with gold metallic paint. The sunflowers are trapunto as well. In the star blocks. I machine embroidered the outline of flowers with green metallic thread and trapunto them and then painted sparkles on the flowers. The additional 12 point stars in that border are also machine embroidered with metallic thread and painted with metallic gold and white sparkles in the center. The quilt is longarmed quilted using sliver metallic thread for stitching in the ditch and for the background filler of small circles as well King Tut thread for the feathers in the inner border. Finally, for the first inner border, using the longarm, I quilted the small flowers with metallic thread and then hand painted them.
