My quilt Comfort and Joy was designed a few years ago with EQ5. I used the Wreathmaker tool to create a snowflake of teddy bears appliquéd onto a Bear Paw block.  The bear paw prints in the sashing became quilted motifs in the quilt.  I scanned the fabric I wanted to use for the outer border to audition the color scheme.

The idea of using recognizable images in a snowflake design is the subject of my book Sewflakes: Papercut Appliqué Quilts (C&T Publishing).  At least part of each quilt in the book was designed using EQ software.
I have enjoyed teaching others how to use EQ6 and now EQ7, and am hoping to start an EQ7 design club this fall with many of my students.  It is so fun to see their excitement grow as they realize all the possibilities this program has to offer.
