Midway through the year when I realized it might be possible, I decided to try and submit designs to every challenge in 2014.
With these quilts I’ve reached that goal. Many thanks to Barb for the fun challenges and the many new techniques learned by careful examination of her quilt examples.
This month instead of two completely different designs I decided to work with one concept (initially presented in one of the quilts submitted for the July 2012 Challenge) and interpret it in two different ways.
This first design includes appliqué (or embroidered) geese in addition to a pattern of flying geese blocks formed with the Swath Tool all set on a background of undulating mountains designed in Patchdraw.

Both your designs are outstanding. I really like the way the geese go around the sun in this quilt. This is a quilt design that I would make.
I, too, decided to participate in every challenge. I still have a lot to learn, but I know a lot more than a year ago. Sometimes the designs that others create are so complex that even with the EQ files, I still have a hard time understanding how it was done.
